Chapter Fifty-Two
Almost Three Months Later
Joey's POV~
I watched as Ashley waddled around my parents house. I couldn't believe that she was already 34 weeks, only 6 more until our little boy was here.
"You ready to be a father?" My grandmother asked.
"Yeah." I smiled.
"How many is this one?" She asked.
"This is our first," I answered.
"Oh, silly me." She shook her head.
I smiled, "It's okay."
"For some reason I was thinking that you already had one," she stated.
"No. We were trying before she got promoted, then, we were surprised." I shrugged.
Ashley came waddling in. She smiled as she placed her hand on my shoulder, "Hey, your mom needs us both."
"Alright, I'm coming." I nodded.
"Behave little troublemaker." My grandmother joked.
I laughed, "Of course."

A little while later, the family was hanging out after dinner.
My mom, Ashley and I were hanging out in the kitchen. I just stood there quietly as they talked.
"I'm surprised that you two were able to come up. You know, since you're so far in." Mom stated.
"We got permission. I wasn't having any complications, so the doctor said it was fine." Ashley explained.
"We plan on coming to Nashville for Christmas, and I think Kenny and Melissa are flying in as well." Mom nodded.
I grinned, "First Stamper Christmas in Nashville."
My wife laughed and my mom smiled, "That it is, son."
"Babe," Ashley stated.
"Yeah?" I responded. She grinned as she took my hand and laid it on her bump. He was still kicking. Or at least wiggling and doing something. I smiled as the small life form moved within my wife's womb. "He's amazing."
"He takes after you." She whispered, kissing my cheek.
"You two remind me of your father and I when we were young. When I was pregnant with Donald," mom smiled.
"What about me?!" Donnie asked, poking his head through the doorway.
"Oh! When I was pregnant with you." Mom repeated.
Donnie groaned and rolled his eyes before joining us. "How's the nephew?" He asked.
Ashley smiled, "He's still moving."
"Just like Joey. He just wouldn't stop moving." Mom stated.
"Arlo likes to move, but if Joey's talking to him and asks him to stop, he does." Ashley grinned.
"Does he really?" Mom asked.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"No matter what I did, you wouldn't stop moving. I think that's why you so sleep you much. When I was pregnant you were restless." Mom laughed.
"Mom," I groaned.
"What? It's true," she snickered.
I turned to Ashley as she sucked in a deep breath. "You okay, baby?" I asked.
She nodded, "Yeah. Just little Braxton-Hicks contractions. Nothing serious."
"Contractions? Doesn't that mean you're going into labor?" Donnie asked.
"No. They happen through the whole pregnancy. They're just stronger during the late months." Ashley explained.
"Oh!" He nodded.
"You'd know if I was in labor." Ashley laughed.
"It's still a little early though." I commented.
"For me, but you have to remember, others are born so much earlier, babe." She stated.
"Yeah. Right." I muttered.
"Oh, I completely forgot. Your dad and I are staying until our grandson is born." Mom smiled.
"That could be almost three weeks after Christmas." Ashley informed.
"We're staying with Donnie." Mom stated.
"Yeah." Donnie nodded.
I watched as Ashley smiled and held her large bump in her hands. I grinned at her and kissed her cheek, placing my hand over hers.
My mom and Donnie were talking, so they weren't paying attention to us. I smiled at my wife, "Just to think, we made him all on our own. He's ours. That we made that little life."
"I know." She whispered.
"I love you," I grinned.
"I love you too." She mumbled. I gently placed my hand under her chin, making her look at me. I smiled as I kissed her, the first time we've kissed since yesterday.
"Woah! You two! Wait a little while before you have another." Donnie jokes.
Ashley groaned before pulling back. I sighed, "Can you not tease me?"
"I don't know. Maybe." He shrugged.
"You even teased me at our wedding." I muttered.
"Babe, it's okay." Ashley laughed, "It's not like you can't ever kiss me again."
"But I love your kisses," I whispered loud enough just for her to hear.
"Oh, you two." Mom laughed, "Still teasing eachother."
"I hear it at home too," Ashley stated.
"Of course," Mom smiled.
~*~*~
Late that night, Ashley and I laid in bed. I could tell she was uncomfortable by the way she was constantly moving.
She huffed and laid still on her back, "This sucks."
"I'm sorry, babe. Only a couple more weeks." I reassured.
"I know." She sighed.
"Stay up all night, sleep in the car." I suggested.
"I can't do that." She mumbled.
"I'll stay up with you." I offered.
"No. You need your sleep." She shook her head.
I snuggled into her, placing my hand on her bump and burying my face into her neck.
"Just one more night," I whispered, "Take it one night at a time."
"Can we just talk?" She asked.
"About what?" I questioned, looking up at her.
"I don't know. Future plans?" She suggested.
"Sure," I nodded.
"After Arlo, would you want more kids?" She asked.
"Yeah. Why not?" I shrugged.
"More boys or a girl?" She questioned.
"I don't know, both maybe." I answered. She didn't say anything, making me wonder what she was thinking. "What are you thinking about, babe?"
"What if I went back to school?" She asked.
"If that's what you want. I'll support you." I smiled.
"I just don't know what to go for," she sighed.
"Think about it. You have plenty of time." I suggested, "Now will you try to get some rest?"
"Fine." She grumbled.
"Thank you. I love you." I whispered.
"I love you too." She mumbled. She sighed and rolled over to her side.
I smiled and rolled over, wrapping my arms around her waist. I buried my face into her shoulder as both of us fell asleep.

Vote and Comment~
I'm sure everyone has heard about the club shooting in Orlando, Florida. I find that very tragic. I've seen some posts, and I don't know every detail. {Please correct me if I'm wrong.} From what I read the Pulse was a LGBT club. I've read that this is a hate crime. It's sad that people have lost their lives because they simply lived a different lifestyle. I'm most definitely praying for the families who have lost loved ones.
