Chapter Fifty Four
Ashley's POV~
That next day, the team came home. They all went out to celebrate, like usual, but unfortunately, I had to decline.
So in the end, Joey came and picked me up. I was greeted to the guys being in my livingroom. I hadn't seen them in four days, so it was nice to see my family.
"Tired?" Alan asked as I sat on the couch.
"Yeah. I stayed up for two nights in a row checking social media accounts." I nodded.
"Exactly why I decided to bring you and Garcia coffee every morning," Joey smiled, kissing my cheek.
"And we both appreciated that very much." I grinned.
"Good," he nodded. I sighed and laid my head back against the couch.
"I'm surprised you aren't taking a nap." Chad snickered.
"I can't sleep," I mumbled, "It's too uncomfortable. And besides, then I won't be able to sleep tonight."
"Have you gotten any good sleep?" Alan asked.
I shook my head, "Not really."
"Babe, just go take a nap. You can't deprive yourself of sleep. Especially with the baby." Joey stated.
"Fine. But until you carry a five pound baby and have constant back pain, let me know." I grumbled, standing up.
Joey grabbed my wrist as I began to walk away. "Baby, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that." He apologized.
I rolled my eyes and huffed, "Whatever."
He sighed and let go of my wrist. I sighed and waddled my way upstairs and into my room.
Not even minutes later, Joey was knocking on the bedroom door. I ignored it, I wasn't really in the mood.
After a few more tries, I thought he gave up. He sighed, "Babe, I'm not letting you go to sleep mad. I'm sorry that I made you upset, but please hear me out."
I groaned, "Fine."
He cautiously opened the door, while I stood there impatiently. He slowly made his way towards me. He smiled slightly as he gently laid his hands on my face, gliding his thumbs over my cheekbones.
"I really didn't mean to make you upset, baby. Okay? I'm sorry, but you need rest, babe. You have a little human depending on you," he starts.
"I know. It's just everyone's on top of me." I sighed.
"Don't worry about anything else. I want you worrying and caring about our baby. He's the one who needs you most right now." He reassured.
I nodded, "Okay."
"Do you forgive me?" He asked.
"Yeah." I mumbled.
"Okay. You know that I only want what's best for you and our baby. I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too," I smiled.

Late that night, Joey and I laid in bed. I rolled over and was met with his sleeping form.
I smiled as I quietly snuck out of bed, and out of the bedroom. I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen.
I quietly opened our snack cabinet, knowing Joey had to have one when we moved in. I rolled my eyes at the memory as I looked for my animal crackers. When I couldn't find them, I groaned, "Where are they? They were just here the other day. I swear if he ate them-"
"Babe?" Joey asked.
I jumped before turning around. I smiled, "Yes?"
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Looking for my animal crackers, and I can't find them." I answered.
"Because you ate them all." He stated.
"They were just here the other day." I whined.
"Yeah. Remember; you had me bring them to you at the office." He recalled.
"I don't remember that." I shook my head.
"Well, you did, and it's like 2 in the morning." He sighed.
"I'm hungry." I pouted.
"Let me put on a shirt and shoes, and we'll go to Walmart. Give me like 3 minutes." He mumbled.
I grinned, "Thank you."
"Yeah." He muttered.
I kissed his cheek before he went back upstairs. While he was doing that, I went towards the front of the house. I grabbed one of the jackets hanging up and my running shoes, the only comfortable shoes at this point. I went to the livingroom and sat on the couch as I attempted to put on my shoes.
Eventually, I gave up and just put on my jacket. Joey came down with his phone and keys in hand. He gave me a look and I pouted.
"I'm going in sock feet." I mumbled.
"Babe, you can't do that." He laughed.
"Stop," I whined, "It's not funny. I'm too large and my ankles are swollen and I can't get my shoes on. Babe, it's hard."
"Do you want help?" He offered.
"No. I'm going barefoot. I don't care." I grumbled, standing up.
"Sit down and let me help you." He demanded.
I huffed and sat back down. He smiled as he kneeled down in front of me. He put my shoes on for me and tied them. As he stood up, he leaned down and quickly kissed me.
"Thank you," I sighed.
"You're welcome." He smiled, "You know, it's okay to ask for help, babe."
"I know." I mumbled.
~*~*~
Joey aimlessly followed me around Walmart.
I was everywhere. From fruit to ice cream to chips to candy. I was a mess.
People stared at me as we walked. I was a 35 week pregnant woman walking around Walmart at 3 in the morning.
"Babe, I love you, but are you almost done?" Joey whined.
"Almost." I mumbled.
He sighed as he followed me back to ice cream. I grinned as I got a couple cartons of dairy-free ice cream, then I made one more stop.
I ended up getting a few things of frozen cookie dough. Joey gave me a weird look as we made our way to checkout.
Minutes later, Joey's pulling out his debit card and sliding it through. He sighed as he tapped on the screen in the self-checkout. I bought at least $20 worth of snacks.
"How long will this last you?" He asked.
"Depends on if we have any cases or not." I shrugged, "If we do, maybe two weeks."
"And if you don't?" He questioned.
"Three days at the least." I answered.
"Thank goodness." He muttered.
I grinned, "I love you."
"I love you too." He replied, kissing my cheek.
~*~*~
That next morning, I laid in bed, eating the cookie dough. Joey laughed while he laid with me.
I looked down at my belly as I felt Arlo move. "Is he enjoying that?" Joey asked.
I nodded, "Sure feels like it."
"Hey, babe, I've got a random question." He stated.
"What is it?" I responded.
"Have you thought about maternity leave?" He asked.
"I've thought about. I just don't know when to take it. I get twelve full weeks." I answered.
"Okay." He nodded.
"Why?" I questioned.
"I was wanting to spend more time with you before he's born. And you know, make sure we have everything." He replied.
"I'll talk to Hotch when we go in tomorrow. See when I can get the time." I suggest.

Eeek! Guys, Kelsey posted a bump picture, and she's freaking 17 weeks. And from what I've researched, she should be finding out the gender really soon, you know, if they decide to see the gender. And I'm really excited for the next chapter.😁😏
Ugh. Anyway, Vote and Comment.
