LIGHT GIGGLES LEFT AMARA'S lips as she tossed a pretzel into chase's mouth. he held up his hands in a touchdown formation and smiled as he ate it. the two had been tossing pretzels back and forth for about a half hour. the tv was on a low volume and everyone else in the house was asleep. it was almost one in the morning, so the two were trying to stay somewhat quiet, not wanting to wake up the twins or sebastian since their rooms were the closest to the living room.
"twelve in a row." amara stated. "i'm impressed."
chase smiled, "hit me with thirteen." amara tossed another pretzel at him and it bounced off his nose. "mother fucker," he cursed lightly, "i blame you because you said something."
amara popped a pretzel into her own mouth. "we should go to the twenty-four hour quickchek and get more snacks because i'm still hungry and i'll eat all your food if i don't buy my own." chase gave her a nod and rose to his feet. "grab me one of your sweatshirts, please?"
"yeah, i'll be back." he walked to his room and slowly opened the door. the room was dark, but he could see tom's figure on the bed. he was laying on his stomach, shirtless, and chase couldn't stop staring at his back muscles. his ass may have looked really good also, but he wasn't gonna say it out loud. he walked over to his closet and quietly slid the door open, grabbing a sweatshirt off a hanger.
"chase?" tom's voice startled the boy and he dropped the hanger on the floor.
chase turned to look at tom and gave him a nod. "yeah, sorry, did i wake you?"
tom shook his head, "haven't fallen asleep yet."
"oh," he bit down on his bottom lip and picked up the hanger, sticking it back in his closet. "amara and i are running to the store. do you wanna come?"
the brunet shrugged his shoulders, sliding off the bed. "sure." chase watched him pull a shirt over his head and tom smirked. "it's not polite to stare."
chase's cheeks heated and he looked at his feet. "sorry."
tom made his way over to the bedroom door holding it open for chase. "i didn't say i wanted you to be polite."
chase quickly walked out and made his way back into the living room, tossing the sweatshirt at amara. "tom's coming with us because he can't sleep."
"cool," amara smiled. "we can play a game of questionnaire on the way there because i'm eager to know what's going on in both of your lives."
chase rose an eyebrow. "we've only been friends for like six years."
amara rolled her eyes. "yeah, but you've been awol for awhile, so i need to catch up on your life." chase simply nodded and followed the two out to tom's car when he offered to drive. amara sat in the passenger seat and chase sat in the back, behind tom so amara could easily look at him. "okay, so who wants to go first?" neither boy answered, so she looked at tom. "oldest goes first then, so how old are you?"
"nineteen." tom answered, putting on his blinker to turn.
amara looked at chase. "alright, oxie," chase rolled his eyes at the nickname; she had too many for him. "when was your last hook up?"
chase crossed his arms over his chest and looked out the window. "halloween."
the girl's brown eyes widened. "i thought you were grounded. how did you manage that?"
"one question per turn, amara." chase pointed, not looking at her.
"fine," she looked back to tom. "when was your last relationship?"
tom stopped at a red light. "sometime last year; i don't remember."
"how the fuck are you single?" amara blurted out before shaking her head. "no filter, sorry. alright chase, how did you manage this hook up?"
the brunet shrugged his shoulders. "alec and i got in a fight, so i told him i was going for a walk and ended up at the guy's house." he paused, finally looking at the girl. "and i may have stayed the night."
"get some!" she shouted, laughing afterwards. "ok tom, where do you want to go to school once you're done with county?"
"i'm probably just gonna stay in town and work." he stated and chase's stomach flipped.
"that's nice." amara smiled. "okay, next question, chaser! who was the guy and why am i just hearing about it now? you usually brag about your hookups."
"i met him at a party, found his number in my phone, found out we hooked up at his house, and then i went over and finished the job on halloween because we kept getting cockblocked." he looked at the rear view mirror in front to see tom already looking at him.
"you're gonna get some kind of disease, boy." amara shook her head. "what's your line of work?" she asked tom.
the boy's grip on the steering wheel was tight. "i help build houses."
"sounds entertaining and tiring at the same time." she bounced her shoulders and chase wondered how she was still wide awake. he was growing a little tired, but it could've been because of the car ride.
they pulled into the parking lot of quickchek and the three climbed out. "no more questions." chase said and amara made no complaints as she skipped inside. the two boys walked in, one right in front of the other, and chase started aimlessly walking down an aisle.
"so you went back and had sex with wes even after i told you what he did to your brother?" chase knew the question was bound to come out since he had said something about it in the car.
"yeah, i did." chase's eyes skimmed over the soda's. "i was confused about what had happened at his party and we ended up fucking because i'm a horny teenage boy that likes sex." he turned to face tom. "is that a problem?"
tom pursed his lips and shoved his hands in his sweatpants pockets. "i suppose not."
chase opened the glass door and grabbed a mountain dew. "clearly you've recovered from me kissing you because you were just being a cocky bastard in my room."
"i did." tom nod, following him down the chip aisle. "i'm over it."
"so should i take back my apology?" the blue eyed boy asked, changing his mind about the chips. he brought his soda up to the counter and the guy mumbled a small hello.
"no," tom stated. "but i accept it."
"i'm not gonna apologize for sleeping with wes." he stated, looking over his shoulder at the taller boy.
"i didn't expect you to. it's none of my business anyway. i shouldn't have said anything." tom shook his head, pulling his wallet from his pocket. he dropped two dollars on the counter and told the man to keep the change before he grabbed chase's soda and handed it to him.
chase furrowed his eyebrows and mumbled, "thanks."
"you're not getting anything, tom?" amara asked, placing her basket on the counter. the guy started ringing up her things as tom shook his head. "i'll be in the car."
as he headed towards the exit chase bit the inside of his cheek. "i'm gonna go with him."
amara shrugged, "okay, i'll be out in a couple minutes."
chase made his way out to the car and climbed in the passenger seat, looking at the older boy whose hands were gripping the steering wheel. amara climbed in the back and started talking about something that had happened earlier in the day while the two in the front remained silent.
when they got back to the house the girl immediately headed inside, not even questioning why neither boy had gotten out of the car yet. tom gripped his keys in his hand and chase didn't know what to say, so he opened his door and climbed out, walking around the car. he waited for tom to get out and stood in front of the boy.
"it won't happen again, if you're wondering." chase stated and the older boy simply nodded. chase sighed, eyes locked with tom's. "i really am sorry about kissing you. i didn't have any right to do it."
"it's fine." tom shook his head. his tongue ran across his bottom lip and chase had the urge to kiss him. a sober kiss that he would remember, but he knew he shouldn't. he knew he couldn't because tom was nineteen and he was only sixteen. it wasn't allowed. it was wrong. it was-
tom's lips lightly pressed to chase's and as he pulled away he broke eye contact. "goodnight, chase." he made his way inside, leaving chase to stand alone in the dark driveway with his mouth open in shock.
