Chapter Two
Kate and Ricardo walked down where the Seniors had classes. The two traded jokes and memories, ignoring the stares of the other Seniors. Ricardo showed Kate her classes when they came across them. At the end of the tour, Ricardo snatched Kate's bag.
"Hey! Give me my bag back!" Kate yelled, jumping around to reach her items. Ricardo kept moving the object away from the older's reach.
"What's the magic word?" Ricardo teased. He chuckled as he gave the bag a little wiggle to tease her more.
Kate huffed and crossed her arms before an idea popped into her head. She smiled widely, teeth showing. A hand lazily went to the back of her short hair, other hand pointing at Ricardo.
"Well, I know a lot of magic words but this is my favorite." Kate chuckled.
"Kate wait-" Ricardo started in an attempt. If students weren't staring at the purple eyes girl, they were now.
"Etativel." Kate cast. The short spell caused Ricardo to hover above the ground and stay there. Kate smirked cockily as she walked over casually and grabbed her bag.
"Kaaattteee that's not fair." Ricardo whined.
"Thank you Ric for giving my bag back to me so willingly." Kate said, putting the brown bag onto her back. She ignored the looks of disgust as she stopped the spell.
The two looked at each other before bursting out laughing. They stayed like that for a few mintues before calming down. Kate looked over to the right to see a diffrent look in a guy's eyes.
The guy had orange hair and cremey skin. His eyes were a darker shade of teal. He had on a white shirt, black jeans, and an orange jacket. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. On his feet were orange and black tennis shoes.
"Heya? Can I help you?" Kate waved with a confused smile. Ricardo looked over with a tilt of his head.
"You have magic?" The guy whispered. Kate and Ricardo glanced to each other confused. All other students left the area.
"Yeah?" Kate confirmed.
"All purple eyed people do." Ricardo chimed in.
"That's so cool!" The ginger exclaimed, practiclly bouncing up and down. Kate and Ricardo blinked in suprise before smiling.
"Hey, sorry to inturpt but what's your name?" Kate asked.
The guy stopped immedietly and looked sheepish. "Sorry. I'm Brandon." He replied.
"It's fine Brandon, I acted the same way. This is Kate." Ricardo smiled.
"Oh! Is she the one you said you'd might be showing around?" Brandon wondered.
"Yup." Ricardo stated proudly.
"You two know each other?" Kate questioned with a smile.
Brandon opened his mouth to speak when the bell rang. The trio blinked before Ricardo started freaking out, yelling something about being late.
"Hey, Ric. If you don't want to be late then head to class." Kate huffed, playfully pushing the brunette.
"Right! Cya Kate!" Ricardo rushed, grabbing his classmates hand and running off.
Kate chuckled and shook her head fondly before slinging her bag over her shoulder. On her venture to her first class, she passed John who was walking in the direction she came from.
The day moved on swiftly for Kate, her attending classes and sometimes giving introductions. By sometimes, I mean once. Only one of her teachers didn't hate her that much. She had John in her 2nd and 4th classes, which were Art and ELA.
Kate walked out of her ELA class with a small hum, realizing Ricardo never showed her where the cafateria was. 'Guess time to roam the halls until Ric looks for me and finds me.' Kate thought to herself. She let out a squeak and jumped when a hand grabbed her wrist. She whirled around to see John.
"Oh my stars, John you scared me." She sighed in relief that she wasn't going to be assulted. ...Maybe. John made it clear he didn't like those with purple eyes.
"Sorry. Ricardo told me to bring you to lunch when we passed in the halls earlier." John apolagized, making Kate blink in suprise.
"Oh uh, okay?" Kate replied.
John sent her a confused look before walking down the hall. Kate followed him, quietly wondering what happened to make him change his attitude about her. Kate glanced around to see those around her ignoring her or giving her disgusted looks.
"...Are you going to keep hanging around me and my family after this?" Kate quietly asked, looking to the ground.
"Why?" John asked confused. He may not have known Kate long, but this seemed not like her. He frowned as he watched Kate fiddle with her backpack strap.
"I don't want to drag anybody into people's veiws of me. People hate me for things others did that I just so happen to be related to. Ric won't back down even if I tried, he made that clear in childhood. I want to know if you'll stick around even with people's jugdements, because they will effect you." Kate explained as they walked, looking at the ground.
"...I'll admit, I don't like those with purple eyes. Yet it's all from what I've been taught and heard. I'm going to give you, Audrey, and Maria a chance before deciding for sure. Why do you assume everybody hates you though?" John answered.
"Look around John. Brandon may have been excited about my magic, but that's rare. Only one other person has acted like that and not have purple eyes, and that's Ric." Kate whispered.
John looked around, just noticing the stares of disgust. His frown grew as he looked back to the girl he was walking with. "How long have you been getting looks like these?"
"My entire life. Same with Audrey and Maria. It's became a practiced ease to ignore the stares when it's just us or with Ricardo, but..." She trailed off.
"Had I decided to not give you a chance you think I'd do the same..." John finished. He hated that she nodded. What he hated more was that she was probaly right.
Kate looked up and immedietly seemed relaxed, like she did a 180. John sent her a confused look and looked to where she was waving. He noticed Ricardo and Audrey standing at the lunch room's entrance.
"Hey! Glad to know John actually did what I asked." Ricardo chuckled as he hugged Kate.
"Don't under-estimate him Ric. Seems like he keeps to his word." Kate laughed. "Also, wheres Maria and Brandon?"
"They're at the lunch table with Jack. I didn't want Maria to be left behind alone because of last time." Audrey chimed in.
"Okay." Kate responded, mood dulling a bit when 'last time' was meantioned.
"We should get going to them." John intrupts.
"Right." The three others agreed. They turned to the doors and walked in.
Upon entering, it was the same as the halls. People ignored them or look disgusted at Audrey and Kate's existance. The four students made there way to a table in the corner, where Brandon and Maria were eating.
"Heya." Kate greeted.
As the group of six ate, Kate and Ricardo caught up. Lunch eventually ended, then school for the day. Kate, Audrey, and Maria waved goodbye as they headed towards the more poor side of town to their home.
