Chapter Three
Audrey walked down the hall alongside John, the older male showing her classes. People stared at them, being ignored by Audrey with practiced ease. Eventually, the duo made it to an empty section of the hallway. Audrey stopped, causing John to turn around when he heard her footsteps cease.
"Is something wrong?" John asked in a bored tone.
"You hate people with purple eyes, don't you?" Audrey resorted immediately. Her snapping tone caused John to flinch back.
"...I don't like them but I don't hate them." John replied with hesitance.
"Why don't you like us then?" Audrey demanded.
"You have magic, that isn't natural." John responded.
"Yes, we have magic. We never asked for it though." Audrey argued.
"Then why use it?" John questioned.
"Our magic comes from energy inside of us that is constantly making more. If we don't use it, it builds up and our magic goes wild. Would you rather that happen, where peoples lives could actually be in danger, then us using it in small ways so we can make sure nobody gets hurt?" Audrey wondered.
"Your ancestors-" John started.
"Our ancestors are not us. People can and do change. That is how life works. You aren't the same as you ancestors either. You have not even given us a chance to see how we are." Audrey snapped.
The bell rang out, not going unnoticed by the two. Audrey sighed as she turned to where her first class is. She turned her head back towards John.
"I'm not saying you have to be nice to us or give us special treatment. All I am asking is you give Maria and Kate a chance. I don't care if you ignore me. We're in this school though and if your friends with Ricardo, from his and Kate's actions earlier, you'll see us often." Audrey stated before turning back around and heading towards her class.
"We are still human after all. Just given something we never asked for." She muttered, not knowing if John heard or not.

Audrey walked out of her class, greeting Ricardo with a smile and wave. Ricardo smiled back, heading towards her.
"Hey Audrey!" Ricardo greeted, other students making their way to either their next class or to the lunch room.
"Heya." Audrey replied.
"Want to head to lunch with me? The others should be there soon, if not already." Ricardo suggested.
"Sure." Audrey responded, a small shrug of her shoulders.
Ricardo nodded happily as they made their way to the cafateria. Both ignored the glares with ease, having done this from a young age. Their feet were barely audible against the floor.
"So, what's your relastionship with my sister?" Audrey wondered, a small skirk on her face.
"We're childhood friends!" Ricardo claimed proudly.
"Good to know." Audrey hummed, crossing out the possibity that this man could hurt Kate.
"I thought it was Kate's job as the older sister to be protective." Ricardo joked.
"No, her job is being a bakers employee. Last I checked, the owners said nothing on being protective being apart of her job." Audrey chuckled.
"I'm going to have to find out her work hours and where she works so I can drop buy when she's working." Ricardo muttered to himself.
"I could always tell you if you promise to not distract her too much." Audrey hummed with a sly smirk.
"Really?" Ricardo gasped excitedly.
"Why not. So, do we have a deal?" Audrey asked, holding her hand out to the man.
Ricardo nodded as he shook her hand. Audrey pulled out a slip of paper as they walked, handing it to Ricardo. On it was listed all of Kate's work hours. Audrey began to wonder why she even had that, especially since she's memorized it.
