Epilogue

"What are you doing here, Frost?" I demand when I see him sitting in front of the rusted railing, looking out at the ocean.

"I'm here to see my girlfriend," he says, pretending to search for someone behind me. "She isn't here yet."

I laugh as I walk over to him. His arms reach for me, pulling me down until I'm sitting on his lap, my back pressed against the cool metal barrier.

"Quick, before she catches us," I whisper, bending to kiss him.

Dylan pulls away from me and shakes his head.

"I don't think we should do this," he says worriedly. "What if she sees us?"

"You didn't seem too worried about that before," I tease, grasping his face between my hands.

"Well, that's because I'm in love with her now," he replies without missing a beat.

I stop short. His words have sent my heart fluttering inside my chest.

"Ambrosia Underwood, I love you," he says, as sweet and honest as his smile.

"I love you, Dylan Frost," I grin at the feeling of those words on my lips.

The early evening sun casts its light over us in big, gentle shafts. Everything is bright and pretty. I prefer the lighthouse at this time of the day.

A lot has changed over the past six months.

Ever since Dylan started seeing a therapist, he has started to slowly and steadily transform. I paid a few visits to his doctor, too. I was very surprised to know that he had many more questions than just, 'How do you feel about that?'

We still miss Stacey Frost. We think about her every day. But Dylan and I are on the road to accepting our past. It's not about grieving for Stacey anymore, it's about cherishing and remembering everything that she was. Everything that she is to us.

We no longer meet at the lighthouse in the dead of the night. No, the night is for sleep. I meet Dylan at the lighthouse after school, and we listen to music before heading to the basement of our memories.

Every Saturday night, Evy Thomas, Parker Lee, Dylan and I go out for pizza. Justin Summers and his new girlfriend accompany us, too. (He was surprisingly understanding about ending our weird 'dating' arrangement.)

Sunday nights are the highlight of my week. My boyfriend, Evy and Parker join my family for the SUFR. (The acronym no longer suits the occasion. I have to change it to something else on the kitchen calendar.) It reminds me of when Stacey and Dylan used to come over for dinner on Sundays. But I'm not afraid to remember anymore.

I love seeing Mom and Dad's smiles lighting up the crowded dinner table. K-Stew is the happiest of all, though, as the odds of food being dropped into her range are now higher than ever.

I've also set up a new lifestyle blog for Mom. It's a place for her to write her crazy reviews and share tips about raising a difficult dog (and an equally demanding daughter). Don't tell her I said this, but her blog is incredibly addictive and fun.

I smile when Dylan's knuckles brush my cheekbone softly.

When I look into his eyes, I see the biggest and best change of all. Over time, the darkness has faded. I no longer see a stormy ocean in his irises; I see a beautiful cerulean sky. Radiant, clear and full of possibilities.

Just like the sky above our heads right now.
