The New Girl ~ Norgan
Morgan
I sighed and tightly gripped my binder as my mom drove off to god knows where. My family and I had just recently moved to L.A., which meant that I had to switch schools again. I used to hate changing schools, but I've gotten used to it unfortunately.
I cleared my head of the memories and walked into the school. A lot of people were standing at their lockers, most looking - no, staring - at me. I gripped my binder even more tightly and tucked my short, brown hair behind my ears. I had no idea where to go until someone who looked about my age, except taller than me, came up to me.
"Hi, I'm Nathan, but everyone calls me Nate," he introduced himself. "I don't think I've seen you here before."
"Yeah, it's my first day," I said shyly.
"Okay, so what's your name?"
"Morgan."
"Nice to meet you, Morgan. If you want, I can show you where the principal's office is."
"Yeah, that would be great."
"Then follow me."
He started to snake his way through the other students, and I trailed him as closely as possible, luckily not losing him. When he stopped at the office, I didn't notice him at first and almost ran straight into him.
"So this is the principal's office?" I asked.
He nodded. "Yep!" He looked at his bulky wristwatch. "I should probably get to class. See you around, Morgan!"
He dashed off to somewhere, so I pushed open the door to the office and walked in. The principal, who was on the phone, mouthed, 'One minute,' to me, so I took a seat in a chair by his desk. When he was done, he asked, "How can I help you?"
"Um, well, I'm a new student here," I replied timidly. "It's my first day."
"Ah, yes, you must be Morgan Want! Yes, yes, I know who you are, your mother called yesterday." He shuffled through a stack of various papers on his desk until he found two particular ones and handed them to me. "That's your schedule and a map of the school so you can find your way around. I will lead you to your first class myself."
He stood up and walked towards the door, motioning for me follow. I stood up and walked out with him. He led me to my first class, Economics, and walked me in, introducing me to class. As soon as that was all done, he left the room, and the teacher told me I could sit wherever I wanted to. I took a seat in the back corner of the classroom and opened my binder, prepared to take notes.
As I did that, I noticed a pair of chocolate brown eyes staring at me. I looked at the owner of them and realized it was the Nate I encountered in the hallway. I had managed to choose the seat right next to him. I sighed, hoping he wouldn't talk to me and get me in trouble on my first day again.
Nate
"Class, this is Morgan Want," Mr. Cooper said to introduce the girl with short, brown hair I recognized from earlier. "This is her first day, so please treat her with respect."
He left the room, prompting Mrs. Bashee to tell Morgan to sit wherever. She took the seat next to mine, so as soon as she noticed me, I asked quietly, "Is your last name really Want?"
"Yeah, it is," she quietly replied.
"That is quite an interesting last name."
"Yeah, I know."
I didn't talk to her after that because Mrs. Bashee started to drone on about whatever the fuck the lesson was about and I knew how she gets when students talk. I had gotten in trouble on the very first day of school from talking to my friend, Hunter. Never again.
Throughout the lesson, I stole glances at Morgan. She looked super cute in her light grey beanie, dark grey hoodie, black jeans, and white Converses. I found the way she would tuck her hair behind her ears nervously really adorable.
Suddenly, I found it to be the end of class. Everyone else was gathering their stuff and leaving the classroom, so I started to do the same until I noticed Morgan looking at a map and her schedule with a confused look on her face.
"Hey, need help getting to your next class?" I asked her.
She jumped in her seat but calmed down when she saw me. "Yeah, I have no idea where I'm going."
"Can I see your schedule?" She passed me her schedule, and I looked at it. "Oh shit, we have the same exact classes."
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
Morgan
I sighed. I did not expect to be placed into the same classes as Nate. He went from random boy in the hallway to boy that shares all his classes with me.
"I didn't expect that to happen," I said.
He shrugged. "It makes sense, though."
"How?"
"There are rumors that have been floating around that Mr. Cooper secretly ships students." He looked at his watch. "Shit, we need to get to our next class."
I grabbed my stuff just as Nate yanked me out. We dashed to our next class, and as soon as we got in and sat down, I asked quietly so as other students didn't hear, "Why would he ship us?"
"Maybe our outfits."
I looked at his outfit - a grey beanie with two dark grey stripes, red headphones around his neck a shirt that said if my music is too loud, you're too old, jeans, and red high-top Converses. "Maybe, but I just don't get it."
"Nobody does, so nobody questions it."
I opened my mouth to reply to him, but right then, the teacher walked in, so I shut my mouth. Nate noticed and turned forward in his seat. The teacher began the lesson, but I just could not focus. My mind was wandering to thoughts about the shipping principal. I just did not understand it.
Suddenly, I felt Nate nudge me. I was snapped out of my thoughts and realized the teacher was handing out a quiz. I groaned, knowing that I will fail it for sure. When the teacher got to my desk, though, he placed a different sheet on my desk. As I looked at it, I realized it was the material the class must've already covered before I joined the school. I immediately got to work on it, finishing it just as the lunch bell rang.
Nate
As the lunch bell rang, I sighed and set my pencil down, looking over my quiz. I had just barely finished it, but I knew it was probably all wrong. I haven't been able to pay attention for the past few months or so since my then girlfriend and I broke up.
I sighed again and got up, handing my quiz to Mr. Radley. At the same time, I noticed Morgan handing him the worksheet he gave her. Before walking away, I noticed him glance at my quiz and shake his head.
"Nate!" Hunter exclaimed, jumping onto the desk next to mine. "Ready for lunch?!"
"Hunter Hughes, please get off that desk," Mr. Radley said in a strict tone.
Hunter slid off the desk. "Yes, sir." He looked to me. "So, who's the new girl?"
"Her name's Morgan," I replied.
"She's a cutie."
"Don't you have a girlfriend, dude?"
"Yeah, but - "
"Nathan Smith, can you come here?" Mr. Radley suddenly said.
"Yes, sir." I paused turning to Hunter. "Take Morgan to the cafeteria. She doesn't know her way around the school yet."
I walked to Mr. Radley's desk. As I did, my hand brushed against Morgan, who was walking back to her desk to gather her stuff. I smiled at that, even though she didn't appear to notice.
Morgan
Our hands brushed against each other.
Oh my god.
I had to admit, Nate is cute, especially in a beanie.
"Hey Morgan, we should probably get to the cafeteria," someone I didn't recognize said. "Also, I'm Hunter, Nate's best friend."
"Is Nate not going to eat lunch?" I asked in a confused tone.
"I'll explain later."
"Okay."
Suddenly, he yanked me out of the classroom and led me to the cafeteria. On the way, he explained that he most likely failed the quiz because he had to go through a break-up a few months ago and had trouble paying attention in class because of it. I felt bad for him. Before this conversation, I would've never guessed Nate was going through that because he didn't act like he was. He acted cool and like everything was fine. I made a mental note to talk to him about it later.
"Hunter!" a girl said as she jumped into his arms.
"Jillian!" he said to her.
"Who's the new girl?"
"Jillian, this is Morgan. Morgan, this is Jillian."
"Hi," I said, giving a small wave.
Jillian extended her hand. "Hello! It's really nice to meet you, Morgan!"
"Nice to meet you, too."
"Where did you move from?"
"Florida."
"Ooh, Florida! I've never been there, but Hunter has told me all about it since he used to live there."
"Cool, cool."
Hunter ran off, which made Jillian laugh and say, "Guess we've been talking too long for him. He's always really hungry by lunchtime. Speaking of lunch, we should probably get some ourselves."
I checked my pockets in a haste, my face turning red when I realize I didn't have money with me. "Uh, I don't have any money."
"Don't worry, I got you, girl!"
I sighed in relief. "Thank you so much."
"No problem!"
By the time we got food and sat with Hunter, he had already eaten half of his lunch. Jillian basically gave him a lecture about eating so fast. I had to try so hard not to laugh at Hunter's exaggerated scared face, but once Jillian lost it, I let it out.
"Um, wait, what did I miss?" I suddenly heard from behind me.
"Nothing, nothing!" Jillian said between laughs.
Nate sat beside me. "Well, okay."
Nate started up a conversation with Hunter and Jillian. While I wanted to chime in, I didn't know what to say, so I just ate and listened. I was used to this sort of thing, so I wasn't uncomfortable.
"Hey, Morgan, you're being really quiet, are you okay?" Nate asked out of the blue.
"I'm fine, Nate," I said. "I'm usually quiet like this."
"Okay. Just want to make sure you didn't feel excluded."
"Okay."
The rest of lunch went like this, with me being quiet while they carried on conversation. I laughed a couple times, but that was really it. It was over before I knew it. After throwing away our trash, Jillian ran off with Hunter to their next class, and Nate and I walked together to our next class.
The rest of the day was uneventful. It was just classes and learning. When the day was over, Nate walked outside with me.
"So how was your first day, Morgan?" Nate asked.
"It was great, definitely better than other first days I've had," I responded.
"Glad you had a great first day."
I smiled. Nate was a genuine friend, and I couldn't be more grateful to have a friend like him from day one. I've been backstabbed by many "friends" in the past, so it was nice for a change. He's kinda cute too, which just makes it better.
Suddenly, someone beeped their horn. I looked around and found my mom waiting for me in her car.
"My mom is here, I gotta go, Nate," I said.
"Okay, see you tomorrow," he said.
"Okay!"

A/N!
So um I meant to finish this over the summer, but I kinda forgot about it. I'm sorry about that.
Also, yes, I am aware of the Norgan break-up that happened. I was too lazy to pretty much completely change the story, so this stayed a Norgan one-shot. Nate and Cristina are super cute together, so yes, I've moved on from the Norgan ship.
