Kiki's POV

We arrive at headquarters, which is really just yet another hotel room, in no time. L hands me the same black mask from the first time we meet with the team, which was also the last time I saw them.

L updates me on that they believe that Kira was at the scene of one of the FBI Agent's death and informs me of the strange suicide of Ray Pember's fiance. I remember her, she was good really good and I agreed it would be odd for her to take her own life like that. Then he told me of his plans to set up cameras and wire taps in my house and in the Deputy Director's house. I stop him there.

"L I do not want cameras in my house, no way," I said, this felt extreme even for him that chances of one of us being Kira was below 10% and there for did not warrant this kind of action!

"It is important to make sure we are as thorough as possible with this case. I do not intent for any of this to last very long, probably about a week is all we need," he states, seeming to shrug off my opposition. I sigh deeply as we get out of the car.

"Fine," I cave, matching my pace to his. "I'll just stay with you for a bit then," I see him hesitate, I've caught him off guard. Interesting. He seems to be thinking it over all the way up to his hotel room. He stops right outside of HQ and looks at me.

"That seems reasonable, but what reason will you give your family for your leave of absence?" he asked, a fair point and I could only shrug. I'll think of something. He nodded and then looked at the mask in my hand. "A few of the task force members are here at the moment, I'd recommend putting that on,"

I slip the mask on, noticing that it now has the voice modifier built in, and we walk in, all eyes us as we enter, but they all quickly go back to what they we doing before. "All of the cameras and bugs have been installed in the houses now.We have both live feed and recorded tapes," Watari informs us. L sits down in a chair in the main space and I sigh, I'm no good at just sitting and watching everyone work I'm hardly content with working while sitting!

"Who's up for some tea?" I ask the group. Watari is ahead of me though, why am I surprised? He brings out a cart with tea, tea cups, cream, sugar and honey on it. "I could have gotten that Watari," I say and he smiles at me

"I know," is all he says before going back and typing more on his computer. I make myself a cup of tea and Matsuda jumps up getting myself tea as well.

"Should the cameras reveal innocence in Mr. Yagami's home I think I have a proposal," L announces, surprising all of us.

"And... what would that be?" my father asks, defensive, but not aggressive. It's interesting watching how he acts, I don't really know my father very well he is always quite busy with work, but even more so with this case.

"I think I might want to invite your son onto the case, he may prove to be very helpful. He clearly has been proven helpful in past cases for the police and is one of the best students in the country. He could be a good addition to the team," he explains. I'm almost mad at him, what? This isn't the kind of thing he would want to run past me?

I look at my father for his reaction, his face is a blend of thing, happy, worried, and proud. "If you believe that I will help us find Kira then I agree, we should bring him on." Mr. Yagami says and I have to stop myself from shaking my head. I suppose he may help and it's not like Light could be Kira. Surely I would notice if my own brother is that crazy and power hungry.

"Sounds like a plan then," I say and walk over next to L's chair. "Who is in charge of watching the camera footage?"

"Mr. Yagami and I will be watching his family's and you and I will take care of the Deputy Director's," I nod in response and sit down next to Matsuda.

"Okay, I'm taking this over, not because I think your bad at what you're doing, just because I'm bored," and because you're bad at it. I don't actually say that bit though, because that would be mean.

Everyone, save my father were heading home, the day being over for the rest of them. I straighten up my piles of papers on the floor in front of me and look over at L who seemed to be getting ready watch some of the footage from my house. "Well! Ryuzaki, I'm going to go make a phone call real quick and get a few hours of sleep. Do not let me sleep all night, and don't review the Deputy Director's footage without me!" I tell him and he nods, biting the end of his pen.

"Alright, see you in a bit," He says, not looking up. I walk into the bedroom and take off the mask, setting it on the bedside table and call Light, it doesn't have to ring long for him to answer.

"Light hey! So I'm staying the night at my friend's house, well I'm spending a few nights here actually," I speak into the phone, pacing the room.

"How long will you be staying with her?" He asked, sounding only half interested.

"Probably the rest of the week, we are doing this whole movie marathon thing and it is going to take a few days to watch every episode of both of our favorite shows. It's a fun way to catch up a little!" I say, hoping he'll take that explanation. I heard him sigh and lean back in his chair.

"Okay, and I assume you are calling me and not mom so I'll have to explain it to her?" He said, sounding tired.

"Yup! Thanks for getting it, a gold star for you. Okay bye!!" I say and hang up before he can protest. I look through L's things and pick out one of his big long sleeved shirts, ditching my jeans, tights and top and then crawling into the bed, happy to be asleep yet again.

Knocking was what woke me up, I didn't want to wake up though. "I change my miiiind! Let me sleep instead!" I groan out, still not opening my eyes. I hear a sigh from outside the door and then it click open.

"Kiki, come on, we're the only one's here now you don't even need to wear the mask." I could tell he was standing next to the bed now, i pulled the blanket over my head.

"Is Watari here?" I ask

"He he has gone to sleep in his own hotel room, why?" I poke my head back out from under the blanket, opening my eyes and looking at him.

"Because I don't feel like putting back on my jeans," I state simply and rub my eyes, giving in and getting out of the bed. I don't bother focusing on L's reaction to any part of my attire. "Let's get to watching those tapes,"

I leave the bedroom and sit down in front of the screens in L's chair. Power Move, Bitch. He follows behind and sits on the couch and I rub my eyes. "How many hours of footage will be watching?" I ask him.

"Well the task force arrives at 6:30 am so I suppose as much as we can until then. Luckily Watari was able to review much of the footage, leaving us with the evening and night left to watch," he says and clicks on the TV.

We watch the family go about their life for an hour, fast forwarding parts when no one is home. Nothing really happens, they watch TV they eat dinner, nothing interesting. None of them seemed any interesting or clever enough to be Kira. But still, we watch because we cannot afford to miss something here. With the magic of fast forward we catch up to the live feed. It's just about 5 am though, not much time to get any sleep before people start getting here.

"L you are getting some sleep. Even an hour can help, you look awful." I tell him and take a big sip of my water.

"I don't see how such a tiny amount of sleep could prove helpful in the slightest, if anything it will only disrupt things," He replies, not taking his eyes off the screens.

"Maybe, but after two days of no sleep you start making crazier accusations at I'm guessing we are closer to four days than two days of no sleep," he finally looks at me and sighs. He knows I'm right, when am I not though. He stands up from his spot on the couch and sighs.

"You need more sleep too though, you're coming with me,"he says and I look up at him.

"What about the deputy director's footage though?"

"Please, we both know there is no way any of them are the Kira mastermind, plus you look tired too, you did only sleep for a little over two hours," he points out and he's right we both need to sleep. I agree and get out of the chair.

"We'll need to set an alarm to make sure we wake up in time, or else we'll over sleep," I only received a "Mhm" from Lawliet and I smile at the sleepy boy. "C'mon, you really do need to sleep."

We walk to the bedroom and I stretch and climb into the bed again, L doing the same with the addition of pulling off his jeans and shirt. We were both quite for a moment, just laying in bed but unable to properly fall asleep. "Lawliet?" My voice was just above a whisper, it felt wrong to talk any louder in such a quiet space.

He looked at me and I could feel a blush creep up onto my face as he replied with a quiet "yes?" I only open my arms and pauses for a moment and then he pulls me close. I close my eyes, allowing myself to slip into sleep happily. Kira can wait until tomorrow.

"Goodnight Lawliet," I mumble as he twirls a strand of my long hair.

"Goodnight Kiki," he replies softly and places a light kiss on the top of my head. He fell asleep almost instantly and I fell asleep soon after.

A/N: f*ck okay, one of these days I'll update on wednesday.. I had planned this chapter to last the whole week but I couldn't get it to flow right at all from one day to another really sooo... i'm just ending the chapter here and the next one will be out ASAP!!
