S1 - Ch.7 - A Guardian's Wrath

It didn't take long until the Trinity found the dead body of a brutalized Stompa and the unfortunate finding of Lyla to which Batman found the bodies first upon disappearing off in the midst of battle.

With Lyla being the Harbinger, her orb showed her pasts and futures that could possibly happen if not prevented, with Superman and Wonder Woman finding Batman inspecting Lyla left at the water where Kara once was, the orb there showed where Kara was captured...

She was on Apokolips, Stompa's deceased corpse confirmed their suspicions. Darkseid is responsible for Kara's sudden kidnapping, the Doomsday Cloned army was a diversion.

But one other problem came to fruition...

Where was Y/N and Glace?

Batman had theorized that the Guardian was responsible for killing Stompa and perhaps headed off to Apokolips already, seemingly making the situation way more dire than it already was. Stompa's unexpected death took the group by surprise,

Clark vowed to get Kara back from Darkseid, with Diana agreeing to come with, soon Batman would have to as well.

But the only way to Apokolips... Was using a Motherbox.

Luckily for them...

They knew the right person to ask a favor to travel to their destination...

"When I said you could drop in anytime, this isn't quite like I pictured" a tall woman with black hair, currently bound by the towel wrapped around her hair to dry, wearing a red towel to conceal her body.

"Hello Barda" Diana responded, wielding her shield with Superman standing beside her at the door.

"Diana" Barda greeted back. "You didn't leave an invisible jet in the driveway now, did you?" she peaked her head out the door to look both ways.

"We need to talk" Superman got straight to it and walked on in, with Barda moving out of his way.

"Can I get dressed first?"

Diana soon followed, leaving Barda to look at the countless civvies within the neighborhood who stared at her in shock. A woman? Being visited by Superman and Wonder Woman? Who would've thought?

Barda soon shut the door, soon seeing another guest who arrived without notice, surprising her.

"You were Captain of Darkseid's Underguard" Batman, mysteriously appeared, reflected to Barda about her past.

"I defected" she informed the Bat, walking up to the living room while removing the towel on her hair, letting it flow down. "Was it easy? No. But for the first time? I'm free, in this..." she stopped at the moment of two nosey neighbors looking in through the window on the opposite side of their fence. Barda walked over and soon shut the blinds on the window to give herself and the Trinity privacy before sitting on the couch. "This nice, quiet... Boring little life... It's all mine and my Husband's" she smirked.

"We need your help, Barda" Superman spoke up, seemingly in a form of a rush to get down to business. "Darkseid has kidnapped my cousin, Kara".

Barda's little smirk disappeared. "Then she is lost to you" she got up, seemingly going to walk off to change out of the towel she was wearing. "I'm sorry".

"Barda! You can't just-"

Listen to me!" Barda turned round, snapping at Clark. "It's too late! Darkseid will control her mind, mold her into a killing machine, exploit her weaknesses... Just like... He did me" her tone of voice went low, the pain of being used wasn't a fond memory to her, if it wasn't for her Husband, Scott Free aka Mr. Miracle. She wouldn't have the life she's got today.

"Barda... We know you were made to do... Terrible things" Kal showed remorse to Barda, knowing what Darkseid had done to her in the past. "But now he's Kara, my cousin. "We're going to Apokolips and we need your help to get there".

"You have no idea, what you're getting yourself into" Barda issued a warning about the journey.

"It wouldn't be as dire now that Kara isn't the only one on Apokolips. Y/N and his Ghost went there too" Batman added in.

"Y/N? Is he the new kid I've been hearing about?" Barda asked.

"All I could find to think that, is that he attempted to rescue Kara from the Furies, Stompa stayed behind to stall him but he was too late... And he killed Stompa, seemingly taking her Motherbox and going to Apokolips himself" Batman provided the information to Barda.

"The Furies, no doubt they saw to Kara's kidnapping also. He even killed Stompa?" Barda asked as Batman nodded. "And you need my Motherbox to generate a Boom Tube to get there?" Barda turned to Superman and Wonder Woman.

"And to get back" the Man of Tomorrow responded. "Which we will".

"Just know that the entire planet is a death trap" Barda informed. "But just so you know also? I'm going with".

Apokolips

Fire and brimstone erupted within the charred lands of the fiery planet that is Apokolips, a planet that doesn't exist within the Sol itself, but really... Another galaxy, enriched in chaos.

Apokolips was the home of Darkseid, a so called New-God, for years he has ruled over the planet, a strong and powerful leader... A tyrant in most rights.

The smell of death and fiery smoke filled the air, the planet was death and fire. Literal what if Hell was a planet.

The smell of death was indeed fruition... As countless dead bodies are sprawled out within the open land where massive tanks would roam.

A battle took place here, an army... Against one...

Singular...

Man...

A Guardian...

A shadow of death bestowed upon the Apokoliptian army, that tore through every single one he could get his hands on, power brimming with fire, electricity and dark matter as he'd slaughter them all..

Pure with a lasting sense of hatred from what they saw before their demise at his hands.

He carried a gun in his holster... But he did not use it, he used his own abilities to tear through them all, with no effort... Without hesitation...

With no fear...

They never...

Stood...

A chance against him.

Countless Apokoliptian soldiers and Parademons were cast aside, their blood spilled and their dead corpses filled the air with death, much more as it already was.

Black scorched marks laid out throughout the now dead warzone, which were from Jockeys, devoting their life to sacrifice themselves by exploding near contact with the enemy.

Seemingly killing the Guardian... But...

He wouldn't stay dead for long.

He would shake off the rot and rise again, striking more fear into their hearts.

The Furies were backup against this unstoppable force, led by Granny Goodness... After knowing Stompa didn't come back... Alive.

But not even they could stop him.

Mad Harriet was the first to fall... Arm cut off by a Blazing Blade before the final blow through the heart after thinking she killed him.

Only to see him come back from the dead by what she thought was an orb, which was his Ghost. Next thing, she died then and there upon his seething wrath.

Lashina was the second, falling victim to the Guardian's Spectral Blades, staying invisible to drive fear.

Gilotina fell as his third victim of battle, immediately after killing Lashina, his blades tore through her own weapon, breaking it apart before he went in for the killing blow. A blade through

Bernadeth was the luckiest out of the remaining, she still tasted the Guardian's seething wrath of destruction, his Arc Staff used next to fight her, easily defeating her with an Arc force palm strike, sending her flying back violently.

Granny Goodness would also potentially survive, begging that he'd kill her right then and there after she was forced to give him the information he needed, his gun pulled out as he pondered on pulling the trigger.

It is what she wanted...

He'd do the opposite, per Glace's thought... Knocked her unconscious. Now clear to move onto his next objective...

Rescue his new best friend...

"Great Hera... Did he do this?" Wonder Woman looked at what was the warzone that took place not long ago, seemingly almost fifteen minutes ago. She'd seen combat like this before... But not to this extreme.

"One man against what seemed to be an entire Apokoliptian army" Batman pondered about it, seemingly having him rethinking about his thoughts of Y/N before. "It seems Y/N is more powerful than I theorized".

"There's sources of those energies all around here, this was his work" Superman flew on down to a mark of Solar Light, still burning from earlier, his microscopic vision picking up traces left around it.

"This kid must have tons of experience, facing an army like this alone? Considering the Apokoliptian army is tough on its own, is something to be looked at... Hmph, I'm almost impressed" Barda shared her thoughts.

The group travelled down toward the warzone that took place not long ago, the smell of death and smoke filled the air, tanks were all destroyed with fire and brimstone.

"Rocket shells" Batman knelt down to examine a shell he stood over. "So he has more than just one weapon at his disposal".

"Not surprised" Wonder Woman replied. "A remarkable warrior... But I did not think he would go to this extreme" Diana then eyed a few corpses, limbs cut off and set aside.

"And here I thought you would do anything to get your cousin back?" Batman made a brash joke which was rare, but not what he meant to do.

"I would... But not like this" Superman countered, even he was a taken aback by the amount of bloodshed in front of him. "He wasn't wrong about how Guardians handle business, I'm glad he hasn't killed any criminals so far".

"This is different, these aren't criminals... They're an army with no remorse left in them" Barda replied. "And they would kill just for sport".

It didn't take long until they would find the remaining Furies and Granny Goodness, Batman quickly checked for any survivors as the rest looked a little shocked at the recollection.

"He tore through them like they were cannon fodder" Barda issued, she didn't expect to see the ones she trained, be discarded like this, she didn't like them, but felt a little bad knowing they were fighting against someone this powerful.

It was a death sentence.

"Granny Goodness and Bernadeth are alive, the rest..."

"Dead" Batman finished Superman's sentence. Standing back up afterwards. "Considering one of them was killed via his Solar Light".

"How do you know that?" Wonder Woman asked curiously, wanting to know what the World's Greatest Detective had to say.

"He told me how his powers, 'The Light', are and how it can be obtained. The Light isn't some form of power we've come to know, upon studying the Shard of Light, he told me that it's a small shard of what he called 'The Traveler', which was the source of how his Ghost was born. He had told me of how the Traveler arrived in our galaxy... His Earth's galaxy to be exact. Where a Golden Age began, it terraformed planets, making them inhabitable to sustain life" Batman explained in detail.

"Wait... Is this Traveler of his some sort of... God?" Wonder Woman asked.

"From the way he explained it? Yes" he answered.

* *

'But like any other Gods...

They always have an enemy'

"Darkseid!!" Y/N kicked the door to Darkseid's throne room open, walking in with his flaming Ace of Spades, charged with Golden Gun Solar Light. "Kara is coming home with... Me" his eyes begin to bulge.

"She's free to leave. If that is what she desires" Darkseid responded, looking over at the Guardian as Kara done the same. Dressed in a particularly different outfit.

A part of him wanted to attack Darkseid right then and there, a seething flow of anger built up inside the Guardian, before Kara Zor-El floated over to him, seemingly driving his attention to her.

"Hello Y/N" she smiled, saying it in a rather...

Flirtatious way...

"Y/N, there's something wrong with her, I can sense something within her" Glace warned her Guardian with a sceptic tone.

"I know" he whispered.

"Just know that the Hellspores in U.R. Seven X.L.L. Zero Zero Nine has been activated, another edge if you need to use it"

"Genius idea, Glace" he acknowledged.

"That Glace talking to you?" Kara asked, still talking in a suggestive tone. "Tell her I said hi" she smirked.

"Kara... What has he done to you?" he asked, clenching his left fist as he holstered his hand cannon. "I should've gotten to you quick enough" he looked down in sorrow, knowing he was too late.

However... Kara put a finger under his chin and made him look back at her eye level, pulling down his hood next as she smirked a little too suggestively.

"I was wondering when you would show up, I've been waiting for you this whole time" her hands began to explore his body, thoughts of ripping it all off filled her desire for him, ever since Darkseid... "freed" her from herself, her mind was too focused on one thing.

Y/N, the Guardian.

"Seeing you tear through that army?" she spoke with a flirtatious intent, as she bit her tongue gently, her hand getting a little too close for comfort. "It... Awoke something in me, to feel you" she softly giggled.

"Okay... This is... Disturbing" Glace spoke with repugnance

"I agree" Y/N responded quietly to Glace, hoping Kara didn't hear it.

"I heard that" But... Super-Hearing can be a pain for the other person who whispered a response to someone else.

Kara smirked more harder as she licked her lips, her hands went onto his shoulders as she brought her face closer to him, her lips practically close to his ear.

"We can even rule Apokolips, overthrow Darkseid together" she whispered into his ear, so Darkseid couldn't hear what she was saying. "You and I have the power to do so, with your Light, and my powers? We can be King and Queen of Apokolips, Darkseid has no much against our might" she continued, before making him flinch a little at the unexpected feeling which made him uncomfortable.

"Ew"

She then went as far as to make him a little more uncomfortable as it already was, as he began to pull out a tranquillizer dart with a Kryptonite infused needle to pierce her skin.

"What do you say?" she whispered into his ear again, pulling back from his ear while her smirk was still on her face.

He thought for a good moment, stalling her for a moment.

It was then... He gave her a fake smile. "Sure".

Kara grinned and hugged him, clueless about his move, her arms wrapped around him as he wrapped an arm around her as he carefully wrapped his other arm with the dart.

"However, there's one problem" he then spoke.

"And what's that?" she cooed before feeling something pinch at her neck, a shocked gasp escaped her mouth at the feeling.

"That you're not yourself" he responded, Kara's vision began to get darker and drowsy. "And I'm sorry for this" he let go of the tranquillizer dart he used to sedate her.

"Y/N" her speech slurred, beginning to feel her eyes close before falling over, Y/N managed to catch her as he set her down nice and gently, repeating his apology again.

"Impressive" he heard Darkseid boast Y/N's successful attempt. "Not even I saw that coming".

"You stay right there!" he summoned his Golden Gun into his hand and aimed toward Darkseid who seemed to be impressed. "For someone who calls himself a New God? You don't look like much. I've seen Gods that look way more intimidating than you".

"Perhaps you have never seen what I am capable of, Human. Considering that I know you're not from here and who you are, God Killer" Darkseid countered with his response.

"And where did you get that information from, genius?".

"From the girl" Darkseid briefly looked down at her before looking at Y/N again.

"She wanted to thwart you off that throne, for your information".

"A shame... She was worthy of being Captain of the Furies" Darkseid responded. "But your attempts to free her is folly".

"Oh yeah? What will be folly is what happens to the King... If there is no Kingdom for them to rule" he touched on the subject of Darkseid's rule.

"You humor me, Human".

"Am I? Your armory... The Hellspores - - They've been activated" he glared.

"Impossible... The arming code is encrypted" Darkseid refused to believe him, thinking his attempts to intimidate him were folly, showing no fear against the Guardian.

"Well... Assuming you know about my Ghost? She broke the code and reprogrammed them" he informed him next.

"You're bluffing".

"U.R. Seven X.L.L. Zero Zero Nine... Does that sound like a bluff to you?" he smirked, which seemingly began to irritate Darkseid as he stood up from his throne. "From the research, one Hellspore can turn an entire planet into a fire pit, but what would happen if five hundred go off simultaneously?" his smirk grew bigger.

"You dare...! YOU DARE?!" Darkseid shouted in anger, beginning to stomp toward the Guardian as shot ringed out from his Golden Gun, almost hitting him.

"Ah ah ah, you stay right there ugly. If I even see you take another step or see those eyes glow redder? I'll make sure the next few shots hit you because if I'm correct? Paracausal magic which isn't from this reality, can effect you... Right?" he threatened, his flaming pistol burning bright, illuminating his face and Kara face. "A few shots from my Golden Gun and it's enough to wound you severely".

Darkseid halted his attempts to move against him, thinking an Omega Beam could work, even if he tried, he'd still fall the same. He was smart enough not to attack.

"Now... Here's the deal. Release Kara Zor-El, and my Ghost will disarm the Hellspores, leaving your little Kingdom up and running" he issued, hoping to make an arrangement for Kara's safe travel back to Earth... Where she belongs.

Darkseid only glared angrily at the Guardian.

"Give the word that you'll leave her alone" he added into the negotiation, still an intense staring contest insured between two powerful beings. "Disavow Kara Zor-El... Say it!!" he shouted next, his patience running out as his finger itched the trigger.

Then... The New God smiled. "Well played".

With the acknowledgement, Y/N's Golden Gun disappeared as Darkseid's smile disappeared shortly after. "Had the Kryptonian or the Amazon taken this gamble, they would've lost. They do not have the strength of character to destroy an entire planet to achieve success, considering that they have arrived not long ago with a defector and Batman"

"By time they got here" Glace mumbled

"But... You. A human with immense power and a partner from a Paracausal God that chose Humanity? You kill your own kind to win battles" he touched on the info Kara gave him under his control. "It is...An admirable quality. Take the girl, I will make no move against her" Darkseid accepted the deal.

"I'll hold you to that promise" Y/N glared at the New God.

"We all will" Diana's voice now entered the throne room, together with Superman, Batman and Big Barda. "Especially with the entire Amazon army backing him up".

"Kara" Superman rushed over to Kara's aid, noticing a dart beside her as he looked at it. "Kryptonite needle? How did you get this?"

"I had to sedate her, it was the only option I had" Y/N paid his attention to Clark as the Man of Steel himself picked up unconscious Kara Zor-El into his arms. "She'll be alright" the Guardian brushed off his question.

"Your neck" Batman pointed out.

"It's fine... She uh... I'll explain on the way back" he rubbed the back of his neck, he gave the nod after with the others taking their leave.

"Disarm the Hellspores" Darkseid called out to the Guardian. "Leave Apokolips, the next time we meet... I won't be merciful, God Killer".

"Neither will I... New God... You're on my Next Gods to Kill list after all" he glared before heading out with the rest.
