Twenty Two: Paris!

I know; Kaido, where have you been?!!?

Well really I shouldn't be here now! I should be studying! As some of you know I'm in Year 10 here in Oz, and this week, I have an English, Maths, Religion, Science, Humanities and Japanese exam.

After that I am FREE! That means I'll be here to update constantly, seeing as I'll have over eight weeks of holidays :)

Without further chit chat, Enjoy!

Waking up the next day, I found a ham and cheese croissant with an apple juice on the dresser. When I sat up, I realised I was alone.

Sunshine runs in through the ajar bedroom door, before jumping up onto Dick's pillow and laying on his stomach.

"Dick?" I call out curiously. He walks in, dressed normally. He smiles softly and I return it as best I can.

"You fell asleep on the drive home last night," he tells me.

"Oh." I look down awkwardly, remembering some of the argument that we had.

"Hana," he begins, walking over and sitting on the floor next to my side of the bed. "I'm sorry for everything I said. Especially...what I said about you controlling your powers. You know no one blames you for that."

He reaches over and grabs my hand.

"I'm sorry too," I tell him. "And if stars for you, are what constellations are for me, then I'll be your own star and you can be my constellation."

My words seem to surprise him, but he smiles and sits on the bed, wrapping his arms around me. I kiss him and smile, happy that we have stopped fighting.

The nice little moment ends when I remember my nightmare. "It's elements, expect there's two for water, including ice. Now it's Earth and I don't know who's next," I whisper.

"At least no one has been badly injured...or worse."

I gulp and move around to face him. "She said the last five would die," I say.

"The last five?"

"Y-Yeah I...I don't really know if I should believe her or not, I mean she cant have the powers for that, right? And as long as I'm there for them, I'm sure I can save them," I say confidently.

Taking my hands again, he pulls me to stand. "Let's go shopping," he suggests.

"You hate shopping!" I laugh, opening the apple juice.

"I tell you every time; what you like, I like. Even if it is the most boring activity on Earth, standing there like a statue whilst your girlfriend looks for something so ridiculously specific that she'd use her powers to get it.”

"That was one time!" I snap, making him laugh.

"So where to? Rodeo drive?" He asks.

"I have too much from there," I say, pulling open my gigantic wardrobe.

"How about Paris."

For a moment, I think he's joking and laugh. When I see the expression on his face, I squeal and leap on him. "You always say no to Paris!" I complain.

"Well, tonight, I'm not. We're staying at the Meliá hotel tonight. You can shop all you want and I promise I won't complain," he says.

All I could do what laugh excitedly and nod.

When we arrived in Paris, via Denominator, the first thing we did was go to the hotel (seeing as I parked the Denominator right above it).

The room we were staying in was amazing. It was huge and had beautiful views of the different scenes in Paris.

I stared out the window, grinning, when something occurred to me. “O-Oh God. What are we doing here!?” I panic out loud, falling onto the lounge.

“Why? What’s wrong? You want to go somewhere else?” Dick says, sitting beside me.

“H-How can we be out here when La’gann’s been kidnapped and-“ He cuts me of with a kiss.

“Hana, we both know La’gann is…relatively safe for the moment. Kaldur won’t let anything happen to him. Everyone else gets a break; so do we.”

After that, Dick takes me to the Eiffel tower, which is much bigger and much more complicated-looking than I expected. He said after we went shopping, he'd take me back there to the restaurant.

"How did you get reservations there? That place is like, famous," I ask him as we walk through the street.

"Easy. I'm Bruce Wayne's ward, remember?" He answers. I grin up at him.

Paris, as expected, has amazing clothes that made my day. It’s clear that Dick is slowly becoming irritated. “Which one?” I ask him, holding up two green dresses. This was the tenth shop we’d been in.

For a moment, confusion clouds his eyes, before he runs a hand through his hair in annoyance -which was hard, due to the fact he was holding a bunch of shopping bags- and frowns. “They look exactly the same!” He snaps.

Sighing, I turn away and stare at both of the dresses, before they are suddenly pulled out of my grasp. I turn to yell at my boyfriend, when I see him walking over to the register.

Along with the other stuff I had chosen, he buys the two dresses. I remain silent since that idea had never occurred to me. We leave the shop in silence.

“Sorry,” he suddenly says, holding my hand.

“It’s alright,” I say softly.

When we pass the pet store, I desperately try to stop and have a look, but I get growled at and told ‘no more pets’.

We eat from a very expensive menu in the Eiffel tower, until it was extremely late at night. Dick suggested we go back to the hotel, so we left hand in hand.

He’s saying something about the history of the street we were on, when I freeze in my place. My eyes widened as I pull him by the hand over to the window of a jewellery store.

A ring sits nestled in a nest of velvet. It must have been the most beautiful piece I have ever seen. It was white gold, with a nice big diamond in the middle, two emeralds nestled on either side, then the entirety of the band had diamonds in rows around it.

Before I can stop myself I am walking into the store, dragging Dick behind me. Immediately I find the ring again and stare at it. I want it.

“Ah, you admire my father’s creation?” A female voice says, drenched in a French accent.

“Yes, it’s beautiful,” I say to her.

“Why thank you,” the voice is different. A very large man walks over; in a way he reminded me of Santa Clause. “This is one of my greatest pieces. Real gold, real diamond and most importantly; real emerald,” he says, struggling with his English through his accent.

“It is inspired by my favourite hero,” the daughter says, smiling. “The Emerald Star.”

By then I know I am bright red. These people made someone so preciously beautiful, all inspired by me?

The price tag is ridiculously high- but that was to be expected. A 30,000 dollar ring was nothing to the Wayne family. Deep down I knew what I was hoping; that Dick would buy the ring and propose to me. Even right now.

In my head I began chanting; ‘Do it, do it, do it.’

Instead we leave the shop and I stay silent until we get back to the hotel. Right when I walk into the room I am lifted up and pushed against the closed door.

“No,” I pout, pushing Dick away. “I want to try on my new clothes.”

“Now?”

“Now.”

Sighing in defeat, he falls on the bed dramatically. I laugh and try on the different things we bought. I notice the ratio of shoes to clothes is rather interesting.

When I pull on a certain dress- black with a low back, see-through midriff and low-cut chest, I hardly have time to zip it up before it gets zipped back down again.

I end up laughing loudly as Dick pushes all of the bags of the bed and places me down gently, kissing me. I pull away. “Hey!” I yell as he puts several different finger holes in the legs of my stockings.

“I’ll buy you knew ones later,” he mumbles, pulling them off.
