One: Re-enter Hanabrie!
Did you stay magical for me?
I want you all to know that now, due to the age difference and maturity levels, this story will be considerably different from My Own Star. There may be the tiniest bit of swearing and a bit more information on the intimate romance side.
~
“The stars in the sky are bright; but no star is brighter to you than the one person you love most.”
If it is bright you know what it is
If you do not I will tell you this
Lighting the sky when they turn out the light
You can not put a price on the stars in the sky
Some say stars twinkle but you know they shine
Do what you can with so little time
Hold him close to strengthen your tie
You can not put a price on the stars in the sky

A smile made its way onto my face as I went up to the fourth gear and sped down the empty highway.
What a special anniversary this was. It has been five years since the Team rescued the League. We are still as strong as we once were; if not, stronger.
“You almost here?” Nightwing’s voice comes out of the Jaguar’s com.
“Almost. I may be breaking the speed limit several times over though,” I replied, laughing.
“Wouldn’t surprise me. Don’t forget you’ve got precious cargo. Nightwing out,” I laugh at his comment.
Over the five years, a lot had changed within the Team. The hardest moments were definitely present; saying goodbye to Artemis and Wally, dealing with the deaths of the second Robin, Aquagirl and others.
Nothing was as hard as dealing with the mission the Senior members of the team had about six months ago. A rescue mission turned catastrophic.
I decided to stay off the field after that one. Even before that, I was there for briefings but ran the missions from the cave, took care of things there.
In 2012, I was appointed the Team’s Liaison. When a new member joined they became my responsibility. There were many of those.
Daphne was the first I took care of. Ever since she began living with Bruce Wayne and attending Gotham Academy, she’s grown better. She’s sixteen now and still Viper Violet, her designation being B13.
Troia followed her. She didn’t get along with anybody- kind of like Red Arrow. She was Wonderwoman’s apprentice, but quickly realised a team wasn’t her thing.
Naturally, when Misty found out Daphne joined, she wanted to. Her designation is B15, but she did not do many serious missions until she turned twelve; she’s fourteen now.
Jason Todd, the Second Robin. A sweet but serious boy. Daphne told me his death shook Bruce up heavily; he blamed himself.
Lieutenant and Sergeant Marvel joined the team for a short while, under the request of Cap Marvel. They weren't around for long unfortunately.
Then came the hardest to handle. Barbra-doll joined as Batgirl, which bothered Daphne heavily. I had a feeling she hoped to become Batgirl. Her feelings for Dick were clear, but I treated her as nicely as I could.
Bumblebee I liked. I knew her from school. Lagoon boy I found annoying and rude. My next member to show around was a special one.
As I had perceived, Miss Martian’s DNA had effected Garfield Logan’s cells. They were mutated and he received M’gann's metamorphic abilities.
Unfortunately, Marie Logan drove off of a cliff in her car and passed away. We took Beast Boy in automatically.
Then came the third Robin, replaced by Daphne and Dick’s younger adoptive brother Tim Drake. He was a nice boy who reminded me a lot of Dick when he was younger.
Wondergirl was a bit too eager-to-please for me, but she seemed a genuinely sweet person despite her initially mean exterior. The same one Wonderwoman gives off.
Latest to join the team was Blue Beetle. It was Daphne who found him when she went to visit Teresa when she moved to Texas. He was a nice kid, though a little odd. Daph definitely liked him.
I pulled up outside of the mountain hangar. “Star to cave. Hangar door please,” I said into my com. The door opened and I drove the Jaguar to its spot between the Bio-ship and the Denominator.
Getting out, I walked around to the back door. Before I could open it someone picked me up from behind. I laughed already knowing who it was.
“I missed you,” Nightwing whispered in my ear and he took a seat on the Jaguar’s boot with me on his lap.
“It was literally like, three hours,” I grinned.
“Felt like years,” he said, holding my hands from behind, swaying side to side. He may have put on a different costume with a different name, but he was still the fourteen year old I remember.
I jumped off and went to the back door, opening it. Standing back, I pointed to the box. “You take it,” I demanded. Dick sighed and leaned into the car, grabbing out the box of tired, adorable puppies.
We put Wipeout in a breeding program. He met a female Blue Heeler who had eight puppies. Naturally we got four of them.
“So we aren’t taking all of these home, are we?” He asked.
I pouted up at him. “No…but can’t I take one?” I replied. He smiled down at me. At first, leaving the cave was hard. We were both eighteen when we left home.
Choices were clear; Star, Gotham, Central, Blüdhaven or Happy Harbour. I desperately wanted Central City; seeing as Misty lived there. Dick, on the other hand, wanted Gotham.
So we came onto agreement with Happy Harbour. Really it didn’t matter where; as long as I was with him. Plus, Zeta-tubes get me to any shoe shop I want.
Walking into the sanctuary, Nightwing put the puppies onto the floor. I sat with the box. “Hana to team. Debrief in the sanctuary.”
Debriefs became evidently important. Black Canary had left most of her duties to me since I stopped going out into the field; training, most of all. She still handled the psychology side of things.
After what happened five years ago, the idea of debriefs came up. Basically, their parties...well, not really. The Team gathers in the sanctuary and a recent mission is spoken of among things, before training begins.
The eleven members entered, Conner and M’gann sitting on either side of me.
Conner and I had played the inside joke every time someone new came, that we were brother and sister. Of course the others corrected it immediately.
Daphne had adapted to calling Bruce Wayne Dad and considering Dick and Tim her brothers. Losing Jason was hard on her.
The puppies were an instant attraction for Wondergirl and Laurel Destiny. I told them to sit down in the circle though, which they did.
“So. Nightwing and I would like to keep one; but that leaves three. So, who wants it?” I asked.
Daphne suddenly shot up. “Do you think…he…would let me-“
Nightwing cut her question off. “C’mon sis. He can’t say no to you,” he replied. I smiled at that little interaction as Daphne bolted out and down the hall.
“What, she’s going all the way home just to ask her dad?”
“She doesn’t have to go far,” I replied to Cassie, a.k.a Wondergirl. She looked up at Nightwing.
“Do you guys live next to a Zeta-tube?”
It never occurred to me that everyone knows so little about each other. I heard Daphne running back down the hall. She leaped over Bumblebee and Robin and landed on her knees in front of the box.
“That was fast,” Cassie commented. I wasn’t about to blurt out ‘Her dad’s only in the mission room’.
Daphne chose to puppy with the lightest fur. I had fears she was going to dye it purple, like what she did with the horse Batman got her for her sweet sixteen.
“Anyone else? Or will you guys need to ask your parents?” I questioned, looking in the box at the three puppies. I looked up at Nightwing.
“Which one?” I asked, looking back down at them.
“Before you ask; no, we can’t take all three,” he said. I pouted but reached down and grabbed the one with the darkest fur, a big white circle over his eye.
“If I get one, Phoenix will get jealous,” Misty admitted. After her induction to the team, I took her out to Planet Faunataw, where she chose her own Metamorphosis Possum.
Phoenix is a constellation. I still have Orion; he was just at home, being lazy.
“Guys, I’ll be honest. If these two don’t get homes they’re just going to stay here. Without the love of an owner. It’s sad, truly."
With enough nudging from Daphne, Robin asked Batman if he could get one too. The team were utterly confused about the swiftness of their ‘visits’ to their families.
One puppy left. One person in particular was eyeing it. “Gar?” I smiled at him. He blinked in surprise.
“Me?”
“Yeah, why not?”
I think animals remind him of his mother; especially since she had an animal sanctuary.
“Well…okay,” he stood up and walked over to the box. He lifted up his puppy.
Daphne named her puppy Venom, after her powers. Robin, a.k.a Tim named his Maverick. Judging by Daph’s reaction, that name was important to him.
Same with Garfield. He named the female one he got, Marie, after his mother. Then it came to Dick and I.
“What are you thinking?” I ask, standing up with the unnamed puppy in my arms.
“Up to you,” he replied. I lifted the puppy up and stared at him. The way I lifted him made him block the mini-sun hanging from the roof.
I smiled at the puppy. “If I’m the Star, you’re the Sunshine.”
So later that night, Dick and I were sitting on the couch watching the news. Sunshine lay strewn across my lap while Orion sat on the floor in front of us.
“You know, I really miss AL,” I said absent-mindedly, leaning my head down on his shoulder. Aqualad was well missed. It was hard to listen to the team put down such a gentle, soft-spoken person.
“Do you…do you ever miss…him?”
Over time, Klarion had become known as ‘Him’. His name was poison here.
“No,” I said honestly. I hoped it was honesty.
