Lucy's POV

It was in the midst of battle, sweat poured down my face like a water fall, every single one of my bones tight and sore from too much use. I had only had my new dragon slayer powers for little over a week, so my body was still getting used to them. I had learned this magic extremely fast, the only reason was because I knew how it worked from watching Natsu and also I already had magic and how to use it. But beside that it was still very fast for any normal person.

I was being blown back by a current of wind pushing rapidly in my face, this roar had come from the ice dragon. The rush that was sent through me was like I was being stabbed by an icicle. When the wind stopped I looked down to see that what I thought wasn't so far off. A giant spike was pierced right through my side next to my hip bone, it had gone deep enough to exit from my back. I landed on my knees and I grabbed it, blood dripping from my mouth. I pulled with all my might, but my arms were weak with shock and I was shaking. It slowly started to come out, blood spurting from the new wound, the pain was worse than when it was placed in. I screamed, but kept pulling, I knew it had to come out. Soon the end emerged with a sickening lurch, I was left crouching on my knees gasping for air, my vision blurry. I couldn't keep this up forever...

Staggering to my feet I stood, facing three of the five dragons. They only seemed to want to pay attention to me because at the moment I was only one fighting in that area. Dragons really were destructive and aggressive creature, but now I really wasn't one to talk.

Both the plant and poison dragons would seem to down, not even for a second, but this ice on was not as nice either. It seemed that I was just enduring all their attacks and giving none, one after another they came, I didn't have time make a counterattack. I was being burned, sliced and frozen at the same time. It seemed that I was only holding them off and distracting them from destroying everything or killing other people. Because I knew I could this, hold them off and maybe even make one or two immobile for a little while. This was my goal, hold out as long as possible.

"Na Na! Behind you!" I heard Ellie's nickname for me as she called in warning, but she was too late as the large thorny tail of the plant dragon swept around and hit me right in the stomach. It ripped the bottom half of my shirt away and left serrated lines bleeding across my skin. I was beginning to feel nauseous from the shock finally starting to kick in and exhaustion.

"Na Na, we need to get up high!" She scooped me up and soared high into the air. It was from here that I could see the destruction that had already befallen our city. Many buildings were aflame, smoke filled the air as the sky was clouded over from all the ash.

"What are you doing, focus!" Ellie reminded me of the battle at hand.

"Sorry, I just..." I could finish my sentence as I witnessed the demolition of my home.

"Come on, we're going in." She swooped down and dived to the poison dragon.

Shaking my selfish thoughts away I readied my water dragons iron fist. As Ellie flew lower I slammed my fist into its neck, its slender body whipped around and crashed its clawed hand me to the side, sending both Ellie and I hurling away.

I wasn't really paying attention to where we were being flung, my whole world was spinning and I was already starting to feel the affects of becoming dizzy and slipping from consciousness. But I had to stay awake, for the guild for Magnolia and for everyone!

I slammed on the ground hard and slid to a stop hitting a wall of some sort of building, the sound of a high gasp next to me made known that Ellie had landed somewhere near. Sat there, wanting to do anything but get back up and fight, it only earned more pain. My eyes were glazed over and my hair was a tangled rats nest, I probably looked like some drunk lady slumped in an ally. But at the moment I could care less, I was exhausted, aching, tired and all around done with this fight. The whole point of it was stupid.

"Na...Na..." Ellie crawled to me and sat on my lap, she was out of magic and couldn't summon her wings back. She just made herself comfortable in my thighs. "I love you."

Her voice was barely a whisper, was she giving up?! No, we couldn't give up now! We still had to fight, but how? I was almost completely out of my magical energy and out of it physically. Was this really what Eleanor trained me for? To serve myself up like a platter for their dinner?! Had she trained me just to give up like this, just to try to stop them and die trying? No! She hadn't, she trained me to live and prevail against these mindless beasts. I had to stop thinking selfishly and just get back out there for the others to live and if I didn't make it, it wouldn't be to give up but die saving as many lives as I could.

I forcefully pushed myself to my feet, breath shaky and scattered. One eye closed in pain I yelled.

"Water dragons ROAR!!!" The blast powerful and true, all my emotions built up and let out in that attack. It collided with the ice dragon and made a noise you could match with screaming as it started to melt a bit, for I had put all my angry emotions in that one so the water was extra hot.

With all the magic I lost from that one attack I was pushed back again with a roar from the plant dragon. All sorts of thorny plant or sharp leaves with razor sharp edges cut across my arms and legs. I slid into a clearing, I could hear screams of people as the dragon stomped in after me. The only thing on my mind was not to let the dragon harm any of the people present. Luckily for me only one had followed, I could handle one, I think...

I slammed my iron fist into its face and jumped over its swinging tail and let out my howl. The water whirlpool swirled around the dragons chest and knocked it to the ground, I stood limping on one leg, holding my arm from the previous roar and hobbled slowly back to the other two dragons.

But suddenly I heard something that made my heart stop, my eyes widened and I turned back to see one of the happiest sight I could have seen in my entire life.

I saw Natsu, Erza, Grey, Wendy and Gajeel. They were all standing there looking at me in bewilderment, but Natsu was smiling. It seemed like the best thing in the world, I hadn't seen that smile in so long and right now I could use a smile...his smile.

They all looked raged, weak and hungry. All of them had lost a significant amount of weight and looked paler than usual, but happy and shocked non the less. I was all the way across the square but could see them all clearly.

"Natsu! Guys!" I cheered, all I wanted to do was run up and give them all the biggest hug in the world, I half jogged half limped over to them while Natsu ran to me, both of us were obviously injured but we ran anyway. In that moment all I wanted was to see him, so I ran. Right as we were about to reach each other we both seemed to trip, and like it fit the moment we both laughed. I reach out my hand as he repeated the action, our arms were barely long enough to touch by just the tips of our fingers. But this was enough for me, he and the others were back and I had my friends with me, now I could do anything.
