Fires from inside
"Mother, please. Don't make me go. No one will accept me. And how will you get food if you are too sick to hunt." Inferno pleaded. Inferno is a large red and orange SkyWing that has lived his whole life in a cave hidden deep in the Jade mountains. He of course, was only hidden since he is a different dragon, the only dragon in history, to his knowledge, that couldn't touch anything without it burning ablaze.
"Inferno calm down. They will accept you. That is the whole point of the school. So all kinds of dragons can be raised in peace. Now go to school and meet some dragons from other tribes." Flare told Inferno calmly.
"No they won't," He pleaded with his mother, "Why do you want me to go to school? Nothing there will change me, I will still be the fire-scaled, dragon no one cares about and everyone hates. I don't even want friends!". He protested as he hurled his wings around and his mother took an instinctive step back, "See, even you don't want to get burned,"
Flare looked deep into his sky blue eyes and saw the sadness that took him, he really didn't want to leave, please don't send me away. His thoughts lingering in his mind, would she cast him out two?
"Come on, even SeaWings and IceWings are going, and they like to hide in their own little palaces," she whispered, he looked at her concerning until he realized that there were five SeaWings with pearl necklaces, standing right at the entrance. One with deep blue scales celebrating with a little green and small SeaWing, Oh, that's Tsunami and Coral, his heart bursting into excitement as he saw her.
"If you ever need anything, you can come back you know," Coral said concerning to the small dragonet,
"I know mother,"
And so Inferno noticed that he was staring, so he quickly turned around. "Inferno please just give it a chance. At least go for two weeks and if it really is bad, then you know where our cave is." Flare said in a soft calming voice.
"Fine mother I will go but expect me back in two weeks," Inferno replied. He only said yes since he knows he can't beat his mom in an argument, why was she always so persuasive? He turned around and walked toward the entrance moving slowly and swiftly around other dragons trying to not burn them. He felt his necklace bounce around on his neck as he tightened it. The necklace was from his mother and was made out of the only metal that can resist his curse. He moved to the board that shows where his cave is and what he was to do right now. And Inferno waited for the other dragons to move away from the board.
Once the other dragons had moved away with their unbearable chatter, he looked for his cave on the map. He wasn't surprised to see he had his own cave. But before he could read what winglet he was in, a RainWing approached him and asked, "Is it true? Do your scales really burn things with a touch?" Inferno looked at the RainWing with a puzzled face. He hadn't even talked to anyone but she knew! And he didn't recall his mother teaching him about RainWings with darker colors, but this one had dark blue and purple, but weirdly enough she also had weird eyes, they seemed to color change. Or maybe it was just the light.
"Yes it is true so don't get too close," Inferno said. Inferno noticed that while the RainWing was predominantly a darker color, the tips of her wings were bright colors.
"What is up with your scales aren't RainWings supposed to be bright?" Inferno then asked curiously. The RainWing didn't seem to be affected by the question and responded, "Oh yeah, I am well, different. I don't like sticking out like the others and hate showing off my emotions. But as you can see." The RainWing gestured to her wingtips which were the bright colors, starbursts of bright yellow appeared on the back and on her wings, "I can't hide everything. And the brightness only gets worse the stronger the emotion. I am Lotus by the way." Lotus finished, she stuck her claw out for him to shake, but immediately realized she would get burnt.
"I am Inferno." Inferno than looked to the board, "And it appears we are in the same Winglet, whatever that is supposed to mean,"
"Ok. Do you mind telling me where my cave is? I love learning but my tribe doesn't have any scrolls. The only things I have read, are scrolls I stole from the NightWings when I was captured but even then I barely got to read," realizing she said too much she stopped talking, her eyes growing wide. Really, this RainWing survived the NightWings wraith? I mean, they are future-seeing, mind-reading NightWings after all, so how could she survive? But then again the RainWings mother told me about were lazy and dumb. Lotus seems like anything but what those stories said.
He didn't even realize that a mob of dragons had created around him, and now we're getting closer, but what was even stranger was the NightWing next to him jumped as though frightened by something, Weird NightWing, what is he getting scared by, a ghost? Inferno shook the thought out of his head. Ghosts didn't exist, and that was a fact.
"Star, don't get scared, I know it's a new school and everything but, hello, SkyWing? Pyrrhia to Inferno?" the RainWing waved her claws in front of Inferno, and then he realized when she snapped in front of him.
Realizing the crowd getting bigger, he wanted to get away from it, well being blunt always works "Everyone get back," Inferno growled. He spread his wings in a way that revealed his curse, fire escaping from his body, smoke curling around his talons, "Yes it's true, I was born with too much fire. Now back off. Lotus let's go, your cave is near mine." The people back away but a RainWing just seemed to jump and scream in excitement, showering everyone with blinding bright yellow.
