Light 'Em Up
It was a cold day in the forests of Minecraftia. Snow gently drifted down onto the treetops as the snow girl searched the blocky landscape for a single, rare block. She had heard that great things could be done using it. She could look at endermen, and they would fear her, instead of her fearing them. She could use them to drive away the darkness and shadows that lurked in the night. But what she most wanted was to have a friend to accompany her in this desolate, empty world. A friend like her, with a body of snow but a warm spirit. All she needed was that special block.
As the snow girl looked further, she saw many things. Creepers walking about, lonely and sad, unable to be loved. Pigs walking about nonchalantly, worrying about not a single thing in the world. Then a flash of orange appeared in the corner of her eye, and she whisked around to see it. The snow girl smiled. There it was; a beautiful, plump pumpkin. She pulled the pumpkin off its stem, and holding the pumpkin snugly under her arm, made her way back to her home.
When she finally arrived at her home, she rummaged through a large chest, looking for two snow blocks. Although her house was made of snow, it was still cosy, and was the perfect temperature for her to live. Having found the blocks, she trudged back outside and placed them in a small tower. With a deep breath, she placed the pumpkin on top. In an instant, a snow golem appeared. The snow girl smiled. "Now you can protect me during the night," she said happily.
The snow girl noticed that it was already turning night. She felt accomplished, having built her first snow golem. She walked back inside and tucked herself under the bedcovers. "Good night," she whispered to her new friend, closing her eyes with a smile. Little did she know that this would be the worst night of her life.

Yawning, the snow girl stretched. And found that she couldn't. What had happened to her arms? Struggling, she realised that the only part of her body she could move was her head. She was tied fast to... a pole? This wasn't the same place she had gone to sleep in last night. Slowly, the snow girl opened her eyes. Panicking, she took in her surroundings. She was in a very small room, only two or three blocks high. There was a strange light coming from behind her, but she couldn't quite turn her head far enough to make out the source.
That was when she heard a faint giggling. Quiet at first, she could hear laughter coming from behind her. "W-who's there?" she stammered, frightened. The giggling turned into maniacal laughter, and the snow girl felt a searing heat on her arm. She screamed. She was only made of snow, so any heat would cause her to melt into a slushy puddle. "Who are you?"
"Oh, snow girl, snow girl," the voice said disdainfully, and the heat grew more intense. The snow girl heard a drop of water fall onto the floor, and cried out in terror. The voice seemed to relish her fear, only laughing louder. "Don't you remember who I am?"
"N-no," the snow girl admitted, trembling fearfully. The voice laughed again, sending shivers down her spine, despite the unbearable heat roasting her arm. The dripping was getting faster as the snow girl's arm slowly melted away. She was sure that there wasn't much left of that limb, but the heat didn't subside. She was helpless to stop it as she whimpered in fear, praying that the heat would go away. It didn't.
"As I expected," the voice chuckled. Abrubtly the laughter stopped. "Because no one REMEMBERS!"
Suddenly the voice turned violent, and the heat touched her arm directly. The snow girl screamed in pain as she felt the last of her arm melt away. The heat ate through her shoulder, causing the rest of her dismembered arm to fall away with a sickening thud. "Nobody remembers me," the voice growled, and thankfully the heat subsided. "Maybe you'll remember me if I show you my body."
The light from behind the snow girl shifted, and the snow girl's eyes widened. Before her stood a humanoid being, about the same size as herself, but wielding fire in both hands, head ablaze. "Remember me now?" the voice asked, calming down a little.
"No," the snow girl said. Then she bit her lip as her kidnapper's fury returned.
"How could you?" they shrieked. "It's not possible! Don't you remember all the days we went adventuring together, enjoyed ourselves as we hunted for diamonds, slayed the mobs? Can't you remember any of it?"
"No!" the snow girl cried, as she felt a tear roll down her cheek. "Please, just let me go!"
"You need to pay for what you did," the person said calmly. Then they drew their face close to hers, and she felt the burning fire eating away at her flesh. Although the rest of her body was made of snow, her face was still of a human's, and the acrid smell of burning skin filled the small space she was in. Her attacker drew back and smiled at her pained look. "This is what you deserve."
"I don't know you! You're insane!" the snow girl protested, struggling even more. The fire person rested a flaming hand on her good shoulder, causing her to shriek out in pain once more as it started melting away. "Just leave me alone!"
"I'm not insane!" the fire person laughed freely. "I've just been left alone for a little long. And you know what that does to your sanity. Besides, what's wrong with insanity? Don't you like me?"
The snow girl didn't answer. "Please..." she whispered. She looked into the fire person's eyes. "I'm not asking much."
However, her kidnapper knew no pity, and only stared at the snow girl with a crazed smile. "I'm only teaching you a lesson. Isn't learning fun? Today's lesson will be on anatomy. The anatomy of this wonderful, ignorant specimen."
The snow girl screamed again in pained agony as the fire person drove their hand into her stomach, melting away the snow quicker than ever, laughing all the while. "As you can see, a snow girl is a pathetic creature. So useless that they don't even have anything inside them! They're just empty, stupid creatures who don't even remember their best friend."
The fire person's cheerful laughter was instantly replaced with harsh anger. "And all people like this deserve to DIE!"
The snow girl couldn't even scream anymore. She retched as she looked down at her body. Her stomach was almost completely gone, and now lay in a large puddle of water on the floor as her kidnapper kept on pushing their hand into the growing hole. "Beautiful," the kidnapper laughed, eventually withdrawing their hand, to the snow girl's relief. "I think that's a huge improvement."
"Why won't you stop?" the snow girl pleaded. "Is it too much to ask?"
"Fine. I'll end it all," the fire person said with a macabre smile. The snow girl didn't like the sound of that. "Goodbye, snowy."
Then the smiling attacker rushed towards the snow girl, and she screamed once more as the heat radiated all across her body. Singed hair joined the growing puddle on the floor, and the snow girl felt her life slowly slipping away from her grasp. The intense flames licked at what was left of her mutilated torso. Soon the hole in her stomach had grown so large that her upper body was no longer attached to her legs, and her remaining limbs fell to the floor with a dull thump, where they melted into a pile of slushy snow. "Why..." the snow girl whispered. Even simple talking was agonisingly painful.
"Thank you," the fire person replied.
"For what?" the snow girl said, looking at her attacker with teary eyes. Although her vision was blurred and faint, she could make out a smile on the fire person's face. A genuine smile. A relieved smile.
"For letting me do this."
But the snow girl didn't answer. She had spoken her final word, breathed her final breath. Her mutilated, lifeless body lay in a puddle on the ground, and a pile of ashes where her head once was. Although the fire person was still smiling, it was hollow, meaningless. "I'll end it all," the fire person repeated weakly.
The fire person had deliberately built their lair underneath a large lake. The first reason was because no-one would look there. The second reason was for their own selfish reasons.
The fire person mined away at the dirt ceiling. As the water came swirling down, they smiled one last time. "Goodbye, snowy," they said, before the water filled the cave, and it was filled with darkness once more.
