Albert the Weatherman

For my peeps, BrendaDaaeDestler, Disney_Fan_, FabulousDalek, DaWoildIsYerErster3 and LoverOfLegolas as  well as any of you who are big into Albert. Special thanks to BeckyMerari1808 for the use of Katie, Musical_Theater_Nerd for the use of Falcon and 23gatkins for the use of Pups! Those are all OCs that belong to their respective owners. Also, anyone else who you don't recognize from either the 1992 or the Live version is mine. This is a Modern AU one.

Albert is exhausted. That was putting it lightly and he had to report the weather. He liked learning about weather and all but really, reporting it on TV was not his thing. Or relatively close to being his thing. At least his best friend, Racetrack Higgins, was in control of the computer screens. That made it somewhat better, at least until Race started having a cat walking animation playing whenever Albert started. At least he hadn't figure out how to make the cat meow yet but, the cat continuously walking across the screen was getting pretty annoying.

Albert groans and sets his cup of coffee down on the counter in the break room of the news center. Jack, the executive of the news center wanders in.

"Hey, Albert! How's it going?" he asks cheerfully. Albert groans in response and Jack just puts his hands in the air and starts moving towards the door.

"I'm just gonna leave now but, you're on in 15 just so ya know," Jack says as he exits the break room. Jack passes Race on the way out of the break room.

"Heya, Jacky!" Race calls out happily and Jack smiles,

"Watch out for Albert. He's in a bad mood." Race shrugs off the warning.

"Ahhh, don't worry about it. I'll wake him up. I finally figured out how to make that cute little kitten meow!" Race exclaims as he skips into the break room. Albert hears Race's voice and turns around to the doorway.

"Race, I wouldn't come in if I were you. I need a minute to wake up," Albert says and Race frowns.

"Did you not sleep well again? Or was it Clarissa again or maybe Scarlett or how about Jamila?" Race asks and Albert shakes his head.

"It's not about girls, Race! I just hate reporting the weather to the world. Don't you think it would be common knowledge to go inside if you are outside and see lightening? Apparently it's not," Albert rants and Race scratches his head in confusion.

"But, it provides people like you with some kind of a job," he says and Albert groans.

"I gotta go get ready," Albert says as he pulls on his green tie and walks out of the room.

"Al, you might want a different tie," Race calls out but, Albert ignores him and gets comfortable at his chair in the weather reporting center with the green screen. He sees himself in one of the TV screens and glares.

"Race!!!!!! What'd you do to my tie?" he asks loudly and Race enters the weather reporting center.

"I didn't do anything. You're the one who chose to wear a green tie today, you leprechaun," Race says teasingly and Albert's face turns bright red.

"Let's just get this over with," he snaps and Race smirks as he runs up to the computer control room.  He cues up the green screen and Albert attempts a smile.

"Good Morning, New York City!" Albert says in the least enthusiastic voice that a person can imagine, "Albert DaSilva here, with your morning weather report. Looks like we got a cat walking across the screen which means it's probably gonna rain cats and dogs and...OH NO!!!! I just got a new car and that's gonna damage my windshield. My papes are gonna get soaked and I'm not gonna be able to do anything but stare at the floor."

"That sounds sad," Race calls from his place in the control room. Albert groans and is about to continue when he hears a loud,

"MEOW!!!!" Albert jumps and turns around to look at the screen.

"What in the...ANTHONY RACETRACK HIGGINS!!!! ENOUGH WITH THE CATS!!!!!" he shouts and Albert can hear Race snickering from his place in the control room. The cat eventually stops meowing and Albert starts to continue,

"The real weather forecast looks sunny today. For the most part. There might be some showers later on in the day with lightening, no thunder. It's pretty weird for around here, but I tend not to question what happens too often. If there is lightening with the showers, don't stand outside. It's dangerous and if you get zapped, you might die and wind up in the papes."

"That's not very reassuring," Davey mutters from his corner of the room.

"No one asked you, okay? So, just don't interrupt me. We don't exactly do common sense around here. Hence why you're the mom friend, Davey," Albert growls and he shakes his head. Turning back to the screen, Albert starts again,

"Okay. So, as I said sunny skies until, I don't know when, we're just gonna say 3. I guess. I don't really know. Oh and I remember seeing something about tornadoes around then too? I think? Ehh, that's not that important. Later on this week, there's a chance of trash cans raining on Oscar Delancey and only on Oscar Delancey. Well, Oscar, all I have to say to you is, don't die and get in the papes. That's just gonna be rough. I would seek some kind of shelter. Dilapidated sheds are typically a good option if you're looking to not die but, since it's going to be raining trash cans. I don't know. Just don't die, okay?"

"Albert," Crutchie says gently and Albert takes a deep breath.

"Yes, Crutchie?" Albert asks and Crutchie smiles and points to his face, "You want me to smile? You do realize that this is not my thing, right?"

"Yes, but, you gotta give it a chance, Albert. At least it's a job!" Crutchie replies and Albert sighs.

"Okay, but...Ooooo, Clarissa!" Albert says excitedly. Race starts snickering as he disconnects his phone from the computer controls.

"Albert!!! Pay attention!!! You're live on the air!!!!" Davey gasps and Albert shakes his head.

"But, Clarissa!" Albert says and then he shakes his head when he remembers that he is live on TV, "Sorry, New York City. We'll be back with more of the weather report in five minutes." Race cuts to a commercial and Albert hurries to the breakroom where he sees Specs with Romeo who is sitting on a counter eating spoonful after spoonful of sugar. Albert raises an eyebrow questioningly.

"He has the hiccups and this is the only way to make them stop," Specs explains and Albert shrugs,

"It's better than last week when he couldn't stop burping."

"Look who's being positive!!!!" Race cheers excitedly as he hugs Albert from behind. Albert rolls his eyes and detaches Race's arms from around his shoulders. Jack enters the room and raises an eyebrow. He walks away again with his hands in the air,

"Once again, I don't even want to know. Romeo, just don't let Davey see you doing that. He'll start crying about you on a sugar high and how you're on the fast track to diabetes as it. You guys got about one minute before we're starting up again."

"What was it this time?" Race asks Romeo, who has just shoved the fifth spoonful that Albert has seen into his mouth.

"It was Coke. I forgot Coke gave me the hiccups," Romeo replies and he hiccups right after he says that.

"How did you forget that Coke gave you hiccups?" Albert asks.

"Sometimes, you just do," Romeo says as he hops off the counter and lands steadily on his feet, "Okay. I think I'm ready to go now. *hic hic hic* Never mind."

"Good luck," Albert calls out to Romeo as they start to leave the room. Albert walks back out and fiddles with his tie again. Elley, Jack's sister, walks in holding her car keys and looking upset.

"What happened?" Jack asks and Elley slumps down in a chair. Her smile brightens when she sees Albert sitting in the seat at the weather center.

"This is gonna be good," she says. Jack crosses his arms and glares at his sister.

"Can you at least tell me what happened?" he asks. Elley ignores her brother and tries to focus on Albert as he gets ready to continue with the weather report.

"Elley!" Jack whines, getting impatient with his younger sister. Mush wanders over and tries to talk to Elley. She puts up her hand to wave him away when he notices a large scrape down her arm. Mush grabs it and looks at it. He sees the faintest piece of glass in Elley's arm.

"Elley, there's glass in your arm!!" he cries out and Elley shushes him. Albert begins again with his weather report.

"And we're back. Or rather me and my friends that you can't see. Before, I was just talking about the daily forecast, now we're gonna hop to the weekly forecast," Albert says.

"Since when did you become a bunny?" Kid Blink asks from behind the camera.

"I'm not," Albert says and Race shouts,

"HE'S A LEPRECHAUN!!!!" Albert facepalms and then straightens his tie which still looks invisible to the viewers on TV.

"Pardon the interruptions, everyone. Now, as I was saying, we're going to talk about the weekly weather forecast. It looks like it's gonna be hot throughout the rest of the week. Temperatures are just gonna be hot. Don't stand outside too long because you'll get burnt, okay? That's not healthy and it's gonna be super embarrassing when someone points it out to you. Just use sun screen, it could keep you from dying," Albert says and Elley snickers. Suddenly, Flavi enters the news center and sneaks up to the computer room to see Race. Albert still looks deflated and Flavi pokes Race in the arm. He jumps and beams when he sees Flavi.

"Well hello there, beautiful!" he says excitedly.

"Hi," Flavi says nervously, since Race doesn't typically call her that, "What's up with Albert?"

"He didn't eat his Lucky Charms. I mean, he's always this way," Race replies and Flavi looks back at him.

"Fair enough," Flavi says before flopping down into the chair next to Race.  Katherine enters the room and slaps a paper down in front of Flavi.

"Here's the story you need to report on today with the other ladies. If you have any questions, call or text. I'm going home to regain some of my sanity. You boys seem to take it right out of me," she says before grabbing her purse and walking out. Katherine pecks Jack on the cheek before leaving and Jack reaches for her hand.

"Hey hey, where ya goin?" he whines and Katherine rolls her eyes.

"You got a kiss. You should be happy," she says and Jack sticks his bottom lip out, "Oh fine. You're an impossible boy, do you know that?" Katherine kisses his bottom lip and Jack grabs at her lips with his. They kiss briefly and Katherine pulls away.

"I do know that," Jack says softly, leaning in for more. Katherine steps away and Jack whines.

"I stayed up late writing this story. I need some rest that's not in my office here!" Katherine says, "I'll see you later. Okay?" Jack lets out a big sigh and Katherine raises her eyebrows.

"Okay," Jack says and he watches Katherine walk out of the door. Albert stares at them and groans again,

"Sorry for the interruption. We were having an incident of PDA here in the station. I just needed a moment. Now, as I said before, high temperatures, like in the 90s, don't get scorched. It would be a good time to go to the beach if you want. Just don't fall in the ocean and get eaten by a shark. You'll make the papes and that won't be good. So, nice weather, I guess. There might be some thunderstorms and such, but just don't go outside if there's lightening. If you are outside, don't be the tallest thing around you, which is pretty easy to accomplish considering that we live in New York City and stuff.  If you are driving, stay in your car. Especially if there's hail. It would be pretty embarrassing to get knocked out by a hailstone. Just saying. Okay, I think that's all. The lows are supposed to be like in the 60s, I think. Don't do anything ridiculous okay. If it's raining, get out your umbrella because no one in this city likes to be around people who smell like wet dog. So, just be smart. Also, if you're in Montana, you have the potential to get a lot of snow, so be careful. Frost bite might be likely so, stay somewhere warm. If you don't, you might die, I guess. I'm not a doctor and I've never had frostbite so, I wouldn't know. Just be safe out there, I guess. Okay, I'm done. See you next time, I guess. Bye, NYC."

Albert starts to get up and knocks his coffee cup over and spills it all over his pants. Falcon wanders in right about then and lets out a litte gasp,

"Rough morning, huh?" Albert lets out little yelps as the coffee starts to run down his pants and burn him even more. Everyone just kind of stares and watches.

"I feel bad for him," Elley says and both Jack and Mush nod in agreement. Henry, Buttons, Specs, and Romeo, who has finally stopped hiccuping quite so much, help Albert with his pants. Albert groans and flops down on the ground,

"I hate mornings!!" Katie and Pups both walk in together and get ready for their reporting time. Flavi comes out of the computer control room and gets ready as well. Albert and the boys walk into the bathroom and Albert changes into some sweatpants that they have at the news station just in case an incident were to happen. Like this one. This wasn't the first time someone had spilled coffee on their pants.

Meanwhile, Elley tries to sneak out of the station. Mush grabs her hand and Elley smirks at him.

"Since when did you get all handsy?" she asks and Mush rolls his eyes. He lets go of her hand and reaches for her arm instead.

"What happened?" he asks as he holds her arm and points to the glass cut. Elley winces and wrenches her arm away from Mush.

"I got into a wreck, okay?" she says as she tries to pull the glass out of her arm and winces, "Aaaahhhh." Mush pulls her hand away from the cut and Elley shoots him a glare.

"It'll just hurt worse. Let a doctor do it. I take it your car's in bad shape if you got glass in your arm," Mush says and Elley nods sadly. Mush pulls her into a hug, minding her cut.

"I'm glad you're safe," he says and Elley grins as she snuggles her face into her friend's chest.

"Thanks. I'm glad too," Elley says and they hear someone coming. The two of them quickly pull apart.

"What'd I miss?" Jack asks. Elley flushes red a little bit and Mush runs his fingers through his hair nervously.

"Jack, take me to the doctor, will you? I got into a car accident and I have a nasty cut," Elley explains.

"Elley!" Jack gasps and he glares hard at her, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want ya to worry," Elley says and Jack rolls his eyes.

"Can't do much to stop that. Now, let's go get ya fixed up," he says and he shouts to Crutchie, "Crutchie! Hold down the fort while I'm gone!" The Kelly siblings leave and Mush watches Elley leave.

"I think Jacky's got her. Don't worry, Mush," Race says with a snicker as he bumps Mush's shoulder. Mush glares at Race and walks back into the station with Elley Kelly still on his mind.
