Ava continued with her life for many years despite already having a high intelligence she always wanted to learn more and more new things. Lucy noticed her intelligence and decided that they wanted to send her to a Collage to give her a better life when she turned 18 they gave her the opportunity to choice something to study at a Collage. She ended up choosing a teaching degree for young children in the arts. 

Despite having this degree she could not find any people hiring in the area she was wanting to go into. Ava had recently turned 25 years old and was still working in her local cafe this money was allowing her to live in her small apartment building. She still kept in touch with Lucy and even Jim Gordon. She had always thanked Jim for everything he had done even when she went to go live in the orphanage he would come to check up on her and he even took her to where her mother and father had been buried a few times. 

As the sun had begun to rise Ava's alarm clock began to ring out making her stretch as she ripped the covers off her body. She got up and walked to the bathroom and showered before going back to her bedroom opening up her wardrobe and grabbing her waitress uniform and tying her hair up. 

(A/N that's her uniform and how her hair is tied up just change the name on the name tag to Ava)

After taking one last look in the mirror she sighed and before grabbing her shoulder bag and keys and ran out the door. As she walked down the street she ignored the gang members who whistled to her and yelling for her to come over to them. After living in these kinds of areas all of her life she had learnt to block out all the cat-calling she received. She arrived to the cafe and clocked in before going straight to work pouring coffee and serving food. 

After she had finished her lunch break and was starting work again she went to a table near the windows of the cafe and pulled out her pen and notepad.

"Hi, can I take your order?" Ava asked a smile on her face.

"Yeah I'll take..... your number?" This made the smile fall off her face as she saw the person when they placed their menu down. It was Bruce Wayne, the playboy billionaire. Most women who got the chance to meet him would be like putty in his hands but not Ava she didn't have time for people like him who only thought money meant everything. 

"Sorry that's not gonna happen honey. How about a slice of the pumpkin pie?" She asked quite sassly just making him smirk.

"Fine. I'll have that" She wrote that down before turning around. "But can I just ask, why don't you want to go on a date with me?" She spun around to face him.

"Because, Bruce Wayne, I have already heard many things of you sleeping with a woman once and really only if you think they have money. Well sorry to burst your bubble I've got none" She then walked away placing his order. A few hours later Ava noticed how he was still sat there so she grabbed the coffee pot and walked up to him. "More coffee?" He looked almost surprised that she had come up to him.

"Oh, um, yes please" She poured him another mug full and was going to walk away. "Oh and I'm sorry about before, I was out of line asking that" She nodded.

"It's fine" He sighed before speaking again.

"But I was being serious I would like to take you out" She raised an eye brow.

"How do I know your not just trying to do one of your date and dash where you bed the girl and never call again?" He shrugged.

"Hey not all dates lead to going to bed together" He made a good point so she sighed.

"This goes against all my better judgement but.... fine how about after my shift today?" He nodded.

"It's a date" Little did either of them know this was the start of a beautiful relationship full of ups and downs.
