Chapter Eighteen

The next few days were a bit of a blur for me. I didn't like to dwell on the bad, so I had a tendency to just block it out in my mind. Going home, was such a relief, and I was thankful for that.

"Rowan... where are you?"

"Hmm."

"You're day dreaming... or something like that."

"Sorry, Jeremy. Just thinking about everything that has happened the past few days. It's been a lot."

"Yes it is, and you gave me quite a scare."

"I'm sorry, darling. I just..."

"Rowan, there is nothing to be sorry about. All that matters is that you and the baby are fine, and healthy."

"I know... I just... never mind."

I knew he was right, but sometimes I wondered if I was cut out for this. We had gone through so much to get here, and I'm not saying it wasn't worth it, because it was. I just wondered how I had made it this far. Life for me, hadn't always been fair. It was just something I had come to realize, and with Jeremy, nothing was to be underestimated. And honestly that scared me a little some days. I just... I never knew what was going to happen next, and I couldn't help but worry.

"Rowan, do you want to talk about this?"

"Yes, but honestly... I don't know if I can. I'm just scared right now. And I don't know how to process it."

"I understand, baby. And I'll be here to listen and talk it all though with you."

"Thank you, darling. I just need some time."

Jeremy nodded, just letting the rest of the conversation drop. I knew that he wanted to talk, but I wasn't sure I could do it right then. My head was filled with too many things to focus enough to have, what I knew would turn into, a very emotional conversation.

Once we got home, Jeremy left me alone for a little while, so I could rest and he could go pick up Annie. It would be good to see our little girl, and have the family under one roof again. I was tired of being so sick, that someone else had to keep an eye on my own daughter. On top of that, I was stressing out over Jeremy. He'd been though a lot, and my being ill did not help what so ever. I sighed, as I laid down in bed, just trying to relax... there was too much on my mind at the moment.

"Mommy!"

I woke up with a start, hearing Annie yell for me.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?"

I managed to get up rather quickly, rushing towards the living room.

"Mommy, I can't find daddy."

"Okay, sweetie. I'm sure he's here somewhere. What did he say he was going to do?"

"I think he was going outside."

I nodded, picking up Annie, and just giving her a reassuring hug. Jeremy was likely in the garage, losing track of time.

"Why don't we go see if we can find him."

Annie nodded, as I set her down. She took my hand, and we headed off to the garage.

"Jeremy, are you out here?"

"Yeah, over here."

I smiled down at Annie, and she just grinned. We found Jeremy under my jeep, covered in grease.
"Daddy, you forgot my snack."

"I'm sorry, Annie. I lost track of time working on your mommy's car."

"Oh... Can I still have my snack?"

Jeremy and I both laughed, at Annie's question.

"Of course, Annie. You go inside with mommy, and I'll be in shortly."

"Okay, daddy."

I bent down to give Jeremy a quick kiss before returning inside with Annie.

"Okay, kiddo, what do you want for your snack?"

"Peanut butter crackers."

"And juice?"

"Yes, please."

"I'll get started on that. Can you go get your juice out of the fridge?"

Annie nodded, before dashing off to the fridge so she could pick out what juice box she wanted with her snack. My little daughter, was becoming quite independent, and while it was nice... I didn't want my baby girl growing up so fast.

I made Annie her snack before getting her settled at the table. Jeremy came into the kitchen shortly after, and went straight to the fridge. He had somehow managed to get covered in grease, and I was not looking forward to having to do that load of laundry.

"Babe, I think that those clothes are beyond saving. Those are going to either have to be soaked for days, or just burned."

"Rowan, you wouldn't dare."

"Try me."

Jeremy just looked at me, and shook his head.

"You, are absolutely impossible..."
"Are you keen on sleeping on the sofa?"

"Rowan!"

I couldn't help but laugh. His reaction was one that was quite priceless. Sometimes I couldn't help but tease him, mainly because of his reactions. Life in the limelight of Hollywood could be rather taxing, and I was just the wife of an actor. I was well known because of that, but people tended to forget that we were just normal people like everyone else. So some humor was always welcome in our household.

"Rowan, what if we move up to Lake Tahoe for a little while? Get away from the public and just destress for a while."

"I honestly think that is just was we need. Life at the moment has been too hectic for me. A vacation would be good."

"Perfect. I'll make all the arrangements for my shooting schedule and we can spend a month or so there."

"You are wonderful, darling. I love you."

"I love you too, Rowan.

I kissed him, before pointing him in the general direction of the shower. I had to get a list going for the next month, so I knew what to pack and what to have sent to the Lake Tahoe property. It was going to be a good month for sure.
