Chapter 5

"GUYS? WE'RE BACK!!" Chance yells as he, Austin and Avi walk in carrying food from Taco Bell. Avi had just gotten home from work and had driven up the same time Chance and Austin did.

"How's Kelsey?

"Did she have the baby?"

"What was it?"

"AVIIII!!"

"YOU BROUGHT FOOD!!"

Chance chuckles at all the questions they were bombarding him with.

"Kelsey is fine. She and the baby will get to come home tomorrow. She had a little girl, Lydia Marie. Yes, we brought food and I'm glad the kidnappers let you go, Adam. Tim, it's nice that you got dressed for dinner." Chance smiles as he takes the food out of the bags.

"Oh, okay?" Tim says with a slight nod. He had forgotten about his conversation earlier with his cousin. He rolls his chair into his spot at the table. "So her name is Lydia? That's actually a pretty name."

"She's so pretty. They actually let me hold her." Austin says with a huge smile.

"How's Rob? He didn't pass out, did he?" Tim asks with a smirk as he reaches for a taco.

"No, they said he did really good. He was grinning from ear to ear." Chance replies.

"He'll be a great dad." Avi says.

"So, what have you two been up to while we've been gone?" Chance asks. He couldn't help but notice a slight freeze of action from the two. And a quick glance between them.

"Oh, nothing." Tim answers with a head shake.

For some reason, Chance didn't believe them.

"For some strange reason, I don't trust you two." Chance says as he props his elbows on the table.

"You don't trust us? That offends me, dear Cuz." Tim says as he straightens up in his chair.

"We're angels." Adam adds.

"Angels my ass." Chance laughs.

"Should you say that? That don't sound very nice using angels and ass in the same sentence." Austin states.

"It wasn't very nice. And what happened to, innocent until proven guilty?"  Tim asks with a raised brow.

"Not anymore." Avi chuckles. "I believe now it's, guilty until proven innocent."

"Well, we haven't done anything." Tim sasses as he turns his chair around to leave. "Yet."

"I heard that." Chance calls out as Tim leaves the kitchen.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tim is acting differently than he has been since Chris passed away. Kind of like the old Tim." Avi says as he leans his arms on the table.

"You're not wrong, Avi. I've noticed it too." Chance says as he notices Adam becoming uncomfortable. "Would you happen to know anything about it, Adam."

"No." Adam answers a little too quickly, shaking his head.

"You're not lying to me, are you?" Chance asks with a chuckle.

"Uh, no." Adam says before jumping up from the table. "I have to go to the bathroom."

Chance, Avi and Austin watch as Adam runs from the room.

"He's lying." Thay say in unison and start to laugh.

~~

"Yeah?" Tim calls out, not looking up from the book he was reading, as he hears a light tap on his bedroom door.

Chance opens the door and peeks in to see Tim already in bed, propped up on pillows against the headboard.

"Oh, I was just seeing if you needed help getting into bed." He says as he walks in.

"No, Adam helped me before going upstairs with Avi." Tim answers finally looking up from his book.

"It's kinda chilly in here." Chance says as he looks up at the vent in the ceiling. "Maybe you need to close the vent a little."

"Yeah, maybe." Tim replies softly with a smile. He knew it wasn't the air conditioner that was causing the chill.

"Uh, you busy? I'd like to talk to you about something." Chance says as he sits down on the bed.

"No, I'm not busy." Tim says as he marks his place in his book and removes his glasses. "Is something wrong?"

"You tell me." Chance says in question form with raised eyebrows.

"I don't quite follow." Tim says, shaking his head.

"I've noticed a big change in you these last couple of days and I was just wondering what was going on." Chance says as he turns to face his cousin.

"Change?" Tim asks with a look of confusion.

"Tim, losing Chris was so hard on you." Chance says as he takes Tim by the hand. "You slipped into depression. You hardly talked, you never smiled. It took a miracle to even get you to eat. But these last couple of days, you're almost back to your old self. I'm not complaining. I missed your smile, your laughter and even your sassiness. We were all very worried about you and none of us knew how to help. My question is, why the sudden change?"

Tim sighs as he looks down at his hands and begins to turn his wedding band.

"Please don't think I've gone crazy." Tim says.

"Think? Cuz, I know you're crazy but that's beside the point." Chance chuckles.

"Chris is here." Tim says as he looks up to meet Chance's eyes.

"What? Chris?" Chance asks with a furrowed brow.

"Adam picked up on it first. You know he senses things. And I, myself, have been touched a couple of times. And the vent?" Tim says as he looks up at the ceiling. "The vent is closed. Adam closed it for me yesterday. You know how easily I am to get cold. The chill that you feel? Is Chris."

"I'm not an unbeliever, Tim. With what we've been through in this house I definitely believe in things like this. But, are you sure it's Chris?" Chance asks.

Tim tells his cousin of the experience that he and Adam had in that very room.

"But, why is he still here?" Chance asks.

"We don't really know." Tim says as he shakes his head. "Maybe he's still watching over us like he's done all these years."

~~

"You want to hold her?" Kelsey smiles as she holds Lydia out to Tim.

"I'm afraid I'll drop her." Tim says as he puts his hands behind his back.

"Honey, you're not going to drop her. You're sitting down." She giggles.

"Kel, she's a beautiful baby but even beautiful babies puke." Tim says.

"If she starts to spit up, we'll take her." Rob chuckles.

"Okay. I'll give it a shot." Tim says as he slips on some rubber gloves.

Kelsey, very carefully, lays the baby in Tim's arms. Rob grabs his phone to take a few pictures just as the doorbell rings.

"I'll get it." Chance says as he stands and leaves the room.

"I think she favors you, Rob." Avi says as he plays with Lydia's tiny hand.

"I do too." Kelsey nods.

"Bless her heart." Tim says as he sadly looks at the small bundle in his arms.

"Uh, Timothy? I think you have company." Chance announces as he crosses his arms over his chest and glares at his cousin.

Tim looks up to see Zak and Aaron from the Ghost Adventures crew and with them was a lady with black hair. His eyes widen and his jaw drops as he meets his cousin's glare.

"Uh, excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom." Adam says as he quickly runs from the room."
