Life's Not Fair

A/N: This is my new story. I have started to edited it. I am not a ballerina, so sorry if some of the facts are wrong. I'm hoping to maybe get this book published when it's finished. I hope you enjoy it and your feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Update: Thanks for the feedback so far! I've added some description parts in. Keep it up! 1,000 words down, around 70,000 to go.

The week started just like any other week. My boyfriend Charlie and I were in our last year at The Australian Ballet School. At the end of the year we were both going to audition to join a new ballet company called Ballet Revolucion. It was a dream of ours that we would travel the world together, preforming every night to a sell-out crowd. Our final exams were in just a few days and the nervous were beginning to build.

The alarm went at 6:30. I opened my green eyes and saw my cat, Boots, right in my face. His long, rough tongue licking my nose. Boots was a ragdoll. He was cream with a latte tail, face and feet, hence his name Boots. "Come Boots, get off. I'll feed you soon." Charlie was just waking up and was stretching out, taking up most of our king size bed.

"Morning Lil," Charlie greeted me. Boots had given up on getting attention from me and decided to walk all over me to get to Charlie. "Morning to you to Boots". Charlie had messy blonde hair and deep blue eyes.

Charlie and I shared an apartment in Southbank, Melbourne, just a five minute walk from our ballet school. Our apartment was a simple 2 bedroom, 2 bedroom with a simple kitchen, living and dinner room and a study that we had turned into a studio, on the third floor of the Southbank apartments. It had a modern but homely feel to it. My parents weren't too happy that we were living together, but in the end they agreed as long as Charlie would keep me safe. My parents and my older brother lived in Perth. I had lived with Charlie and his parents till we were old enough to get our own home.

I moved to Melbourne when I was just 13 to pursue my career as a ballerina. It was at The Australia Ballet School that I meet Charlie. Both of my parents were supportive of my choice to move. They knew how much it meant to me. It has now been just under 7 years since I've moved.

"Come on then," I tapped Charlie's chest. "Time to get up."

"Just one more minute," he replied, not too happy about our early start. This time I hit him in the face with me pillow and opened our thick, heavy curtains. The sunlight hit Charlie on his face. "No!"

"Let's go lazy."

Our relationship was very relaxed and we often teased each other. I walked into the adjoining bathroom, with Boots close at my heels. Our bathroom had brown floor tiles (about a shade or two lighter than our bedroom wall colour) and cream wall tiles. They were my favourite feature because they had an origami look about them. The room itself was quite big, fitting two people in quite comfortably. The best thing about our bathroom was the big shower, where I would spend hours.

After my nice, long, hot shower I headed to the kitchen to feed Boots. The kitchen was small, but like our bathroom, was also a comfortable size. It had a cream bench top and brown cupboards. I guess you could say that that was the colour scheme for the whole apartment. The kitchen was fitted with red, modern accessories. He meowed the whole way there. Boots is slightly demanding and likes to stick to his routine. I reckon he's OCD. Charlie had finally gotten out of bed and was getting our breakfast ready. His musky aftershave filled to kitchen. He was wearing his usual look of a white t-shirt and black leggings. The t-shirt was tight enough that you could see his 8 pack. My long, brown hair was done up in a messy bun and I was wearing a pink leotard and back leggings, seeing as we were only practising.

Boots was happy now that he had been feed. Charlie and I jumped onto the couch to eat our cereal. It was now 7:45, so we scoffed it down. This usually happened, seeing as we aren't early risers. We put the dishes in the sink (with along just about all of the dishes we owned. Let's just say washing up isn't on the top of our to do list), grabbed our bags and rushed out the door.

Even though classes don't start till 8:30, we liked to get there early so we can get ready before class. It was very exciting at the moment because our school was performing Swan Lake and seeing as it was our last year, our class had been given the lead roles. Charlie and I were lucky enough to get the lead roles of Prince Siegfried and Odette.

We met our best friends John and Christy at the entry of the apartment block. They too went to our ballet school. John was tall with short, brown hair and brown eyes, like John, Christy had brown hair (which looked like it had red highlights in the sunlight) and brown hair. Many people are surprised at the number of male dancers that are at the school, but if we didn't have them then we wouldn't be able to perform great shows, like Swan Lake.

The walk was a peaceful one. It was nice in the morning, with everyone in their own little world, thinking of what might happen today, as they walked to work. Christy and I chatted about the upcoming show and the boys chatted about some type of sport. Boring!

We arrived at the school in no time. The halls were filled with students and people were already warming up in one of the many studios that are available. Christy and I said our goodbyes to Charlie and John, who were in a different class to us. We would only see that briefly at lunch, before working with them in the afternoon for Swan Lake.

The changing rooms were full of chatty girls. Our year consisted of 20 girls and 20 boys, that way everyone had a partner. After putting our bags away, we headed to studio 3.1. The building was 5 stories tall and had 9 studios on each. I felt very lucky to have the opportunity to go to a school like this.

Let the day begin!
