Chapter 29

"You can't do this! We trusted you, Master's" Korkie protested as the kids were brought into a prison by the corrupt guards of the prime minister.

"Thank you for bringing the traitors to justice, Master Jedi." The evil man thanked us, watching the kids being dragged away and locked up.

"They mentioned that Duchess Satine was their leader." Ahsoka added. "We should arrest her, too."

"Do not worry, we already have her in custody." He assured us.

"Really? Where?" I asked, intrigued.

"That is none of your concern. Now I must prepare a public statement about the Duchess and her crimes." He waved it off, hopping on a transport and speeding away into the night.

"Officer, I need to interrogate the prisoners immediately." I told the guard after the prime minister left. With a simple nod the both of us were let inside the prison. I entered the cell Ahsoka right behind me.  "Careful. We're being watched." I warned the group.

"Did he buy it?"

"Have you found my aunt?" Korkie questioned next with worry and impatience.

"Not exactly. But I know they have her in custody."

"Where?" Her nephew asked again with more interest.

"The Prime Minister wouldn't tell me." I sighed, feeling bad for the boy who was only worried for his aunt.

"I knew this plan wouldn't work." The other boy leaned his head on the wall with a sigh.

"Have a little faith. I'll find her. We'll just modify the plan a bit." Ahsoka told them.

"How are you going to do that?" The brunette asked.

"Don't worry. You'll know when to act when I give the signal." Ahsoka said.

"What's the signal?" Korkie questioned for the whole group.

"You'll know it when you see it." I tell them proudly, a plan already being out together in my mind. I turned on my heel to face the guard outside of the door, waving my hand in front of his face. "You will take me to Duchess Satine."

"I will take you to Duchess Satine." He repeated. Nodding to Ahsoka we both left the kids to find Duchess Satine. We entered the room to find her locked up in a tall tower cell.

"What are you doing?" A guard stopped us from opening the cell. With a sigh I turned back to face him again, using another Jedi mind trick.

"I must interrogate the Duchess."

"You must interrogate the Duchess." He repeated while Ahsoka let her free of the cell.

"I'm getting you out of here." Ahsoka rushed to her as she fell to her feet from being so weak.

"Ahsoka, it's a trap." She warned us urgently.

"I see you found the Duchess, youngling. You may stop your playacting now, Sergeant." The prime minister appeared from the entrance.

"Prime Minister, sir!" The two guards stood at a attention.

"Using a Jedi mind trick was a very poor decision. My guards have been trained to resist such archaic magic." More guards filled the room and surrounded us as the prime minister came closer. I looked in shock that the trick didn't work but I kept my calm exterior. "And now you have revealed yourself as a conspirator. Set for stun." The large gun was pointed at us and shot, weakening our state. "You little fools." He commented rudely.

"No, don't do this" I protested, trying to gain some strength and protect Ahsoka Dan Satine.

"Grab them!"

"No!" Ahsoka tried to squirm out of their grip as they pulled us to our feet and held us to watch the events.

"Sign it. Sign the confession and admit to your treasonous ways." The prime minister held out a data pad for Satine.

"There is only one traitor to Mandalore here, Prime Minister, and that's you! You control the black market. You have betrayed the public trust, and used your office to accumulate wealth and power. It's shameful!" Satine spit out at him with disgust.

"Your idealism is inspiring, my dear, but hopelessly naive." He laughed clinically. "I established the black market for the people."

"That's absurd!" Ahsoka protested, wriggling around.

"The war is disrupting trade across the galaxy. The profits from the black market are being used to purchase humanitarian supplies for Mandalore. Think of it as a new tax in the interest of national security." He explained his side of the corruption.

"It's a tax for your benefit, Prime Minister. Where are these 'humanitarian supplies'
you speak of?" Satine questioned his logic.

"Sergeant, put the shock collar on her." He ordered as a guard did as told. "My patience has worn thin, Duchess. Maybe this will convince you." He pressed the shock button, shocking her with electricity to make her even more weak.

"I would rather die than sign your confession." Satine claimed, breathing heavily from the shocks.

"That can be arranged." He smirked.

"You're wasting your time!" Ahsoka struggled against the guard some more, knowing we could work with this plan. I kept my calm exterior still, meditating on the plan forming in my mind.

"Bring me those traitorous cadets." The prime minister orders his guards.

"No, you can't! They're just children!" Satine argued weakly.

"I'm afraid your nephew will have to suffer needlessly. Put the shock collar on Cadet Korkie." Prime minister ordered as the cadets were brought into the room with us. Ahsoka and I both broke free from their hold on us with a simple nod, beginning to take down guards while handcuffed.

"Go!" Korkie shouted as the cadets helped the fight. Ahsoka used the force to push prime minister into his guards. Stuns were shot at us but Ahsoka deflected them with the shield she had taken from a guard.

"I've got you" I reassured the Duchess as I pulled off her shock collar. I swiftly swept my feet under the prime minister as he stood back up, knocking him to the ground."Gotcha!" I placed the collar on his neck proudly as I pressed the button to shock him.

"Stop fighting!" He ordered his men through the pain.

"Send for my personal guards." Satine told us her orders.

~~~
Satine had the honours of locking the former prime minister in the cell that she had once been held in herself. While she attended to that, her personal guards had taken away the traitors.
"You must know by now that I didn't bring you here just to teach. I knew something was amiss, but I had no one to trust. I thought if I brought a Jedi, especially a friend of Senator Amidala's, we could solve this mystery together." Satine told us her full reasoning as to why Ahsoka and I were there.
"I never doubted you, Duchess." I told her calmly.
"Neither did we." Korkie hugged his aunt, happy she was finally safe.
~~~

"It was an honour to serve with a Jedi." Korkie bowed to us as our ride arrived to take us back to Coruscant.

"It was my privilege to be your teacher." I nodded to him. With that we turned around and walked towards the ship where Anakin awaited us on the ramp, eager to hear about our own mission.

"I hope this assignment wasn't too boring for you." Anakin smirked.

"It had its moments." We both shrugged after looking to each other.

"Oh Like the one where you convinced untrained children to help you overthrow a corrupt government?" He handed us both our sabers with a slight scolding.

"That was a highlight." Ahsoka told him with a smile.

"It sounds pretty risky. You're lucky you didn't get hurt."

"Nothing you wouldn't have done." I reminded the reckless master, moving past him to get on board.

~~~
"You need to learn how to focus with distractions, so I invited the 501st, Anakin and Ahsoka to join you in your meditation." Obi Wan explained his plan to me as we sat in an open part of the ship used for training.
"Alright" I agreed to the idea and just then the loud group burst into the room.
"Hello Lyra!" Anakin called out.
"This is gonna be fun Ly!" Ahsoka cheered next.
"Shall we get started?" I nodded in response to my masters question and moved to sit criss cross but he stopped me. "Oh no, you'll be training, not exactly meditating" he demonstrated what he wanted me to do and I followed his instructions. I was upside down doing a handstand with a bunch of crates around me to lift once I got steady. The distraction was simply that the men and Ahsoka would be talking loudly and joking and shoving each other around like normal and maybe they would even try to talk to me while I was focusing.
My eyes were closed and I lifted one hand off the ground, wobbling slightly but evening myself out after a moment or two. The crates began to lift by my will of the force that was until I heard a familiar voice enter the conversation in the room.
"What's going on in here sir?" Rex entered to question his General of why all the men were gathered around in the training room but not training.
"Lyra is training and we are all helping by being a distraction" Anakin shrugged back simply.
"Don't you think maybe we shouldn't be distracting her if she needs to focus"
"She needs to learn how to focus with distraction and I knew the 501st would be happy to help" Obi Wan told him next with calmness over the whole situation. Within seconds everything fell. I lost my hold on the crates and they all dropped creating a loud boom that startled me and made me lose my balance, falling over.
"Ouch" I groaned, rolling onto my side in pain from the fall.
"Ly!" Ahsoka worried as she watched me collapse to the hard floor. Rex immediately looked over with panic while the two Jedi still seemed calm about the whole situation.
"I'm alright, it's fine" I sat up, waving off Ahsokas help. "I just need a minute" I caught my breath after having the air knocked from my lungs when I fell. "Shall we try again?" I stood to my feet.
"Only if you are ready to try again" Anakin said gently, knowing that I might need a second to recollect myself.
"I'm ready" and with that I was back upside down with my eyes closed lifting crates while the 501st continued their distraction.
"Maybe Rex should try to distract her" Ahsoka proposed an idea with a smirk when she stood with the pair of Masters.
"Oh no, I don't think that's a good idea" Rex waved it away, not wanting to hurt me.
"I think its a great idea" Anakin agreed with his Padawan. "Rex, go talk to her"
"But sir—"
"That's an order, Rex" Anakins voice was stern but the smirk on his face showed he was up to something.
"Hello Commander Jayko, how is training going?" Rex questioned as he walked closer, nerves causing him to fiddle with his helmet that he held under his arm. I ignored his attempts at a conversation but Anakin waved him to continue. "I watched you fall earlier, it looked like it hurt. Are you alright?" I slowly lowered the crates and stood back on my feet.
"I'm fine Captain, thank you for your concern" I nodded before walking back towards my master.
"Very well done, Lyra" Kenobi congratulated me on my training. "I think that's enough for today, you did take quite the fall"
"Thank you master"
~~~

"We are going out to follow a lead. I want you to stay here and keep an eye on things" Obi Wan pointed to Cody, Rex and I as we stood in the control room of a newly set up republic base.

"Yes Master" I agreed. Obi Wan and Anakin walked out to find out how one of our own bases had been blown up under us. A few weeks ago the old base on the planet had been blown up and by the reports it seemed to be an inside job. We were sent to investigate and that's exactly where the Jedi were going while I got stuck watching over the base with the clones.

After standing around the command center for a few hours watching security footage and keeping an eye on things like instructed I finally spoke up.

"You two should go get something to eat" I told Cody and Rex.

"What about you?" Rex asked as he stood up to leave and take a break.

"I'll be fine, I'll go once you guys get back" I shrugged simply, standing to place my data pad away.

"Okay" Cody lead his brother out without a second thought.

"I told you to go on without me" I said, back still turned to the door but feeling the presence of a clone.

"I'm not leaving" the clones voice sounded and I turned around in frustration to come face to face with a blaster. "Not until you are dead" my eyes shot wide open in shock but I quickly regained my focus.

"Why? Why would you betray your brothers?" I asked, trying to ease my nerves as he circled around me.

"I'm doing this for myself, so that I can get away from this war you people forced me into." He seethed and I could feel his anger, finger shaking against the trigger. "And you, your nothing more than a child playing around in a war zone"

"Jayko, we brought back—" Cody's words were cut off as they entered and noticed the situation of a blaster being pointed to the side of my head.

"Commander, are you alright?" Rex's worried expression asked, keeping his tight hold on the dinner tray. I sent him a small nod of reassurance before the blaster was nudged further against my head.

"Trooper, put the blaster down" Cody ordered.
