Chapter 15

"Master, they are back!" I pointed to the gunships returning to pick us up.

"Did you just sit here and relax while we were gone?" Anakin joked with Obi Wan.

"Well we conversed a bit as well" my Master told him with a smirk. Anakin laughed before pulling Kenobi to his feet and throwing his arm over his shoulders to help my master walk back to the ships.

"Rex, come help Lyra here!" Anakin called over to his Captain.

"Yes, sir!" Rex rushed over to me and helped me up the same way Anakin helped his former master.

"Thanks" I smiled to the clone as we made our way to the group by the awaiting gunship.

"Of course" he told me with a small nod, helmet covering the smile on his lips.

"So, Master, what was your total?" Ahsoka questioned with enthusiasm as we all limped over.

"Not now, Ahsoka." He told her.

"Come on! Are you afraid you lost this time?" She taunted.

"Fine. Fifty-five, that's my count. And you?" He replied.

"Sixty. Looks like I won." She told him proudly. I smiled at her win and walked up to her with Rex's help.

"Yeah, but I called in the air strike. Tie!" her master countered.

"You're impossible!"the young girl laughed, shaking her head.

"Good job, Ahsoka" I told her with pride, understanding that she needed some light in the darkness of the war.

"Heal up, we'll need you later if we are going to take town all of these tinnies" she cheered.

"I'll never understand how you can simplify these battles into some kind of game." Obi Wan told Anakin as he looked to me beside Rex.

"Well, take care of yourselves. I expect to see both of you back here by the time I've destroyed the main factory." Anakin told us all on the gunship as I was sat down and Obi Wan held onto Ki Adi Mundi for balance.

"We shall do our best." Mundi promised. "Sixty-five, Skywalker." He said as an after thought.

"I'm sorry?" Anakin looked to the master with confusion written on his face.

"My total. Sixty-five." He elaborated. "So what do I win?"

"My everlasting respect, Master Mundi."

"Oh." I laughed lightly at Mundi's blank response.

"That is a gift Anakin rarely bestows, I assure you." Kenobi said. The doors closed off our contact with the others before the ship rattled, flying towards the base we had set up in the planet.

~~~
"What's this? I didn't expect to find you up and about." Obi Wan approached Mastser Mundi and I as we looked out of the window in the base.
"After enough time in a bacta tank, one longs for the mundane comfort of star charts." Mundi told my master, speaking for the both of us as we turned to face him with smiles.
"It seems like it did you some good. Your wound looks almost healed." Kenobi looked to where I had a small bandage over my forehead.
"I wish I could say the same for most of my men." The two men looked out at the remains of the base that Skywalker and Unduli had taken down with the help of their Padawans.
"Well, let's make sure we don't have to take Geonosis a third time. Poggle's forces seem to have come from the northern hemisphere." Obi Wan started to explain the current situation.
"And where was Master Unduli's last contact made from?" Mundi questioned as a holomap apeared behind us. The three of us turned to face it, my ponytail falling off my shoulder and behind my head.
"This region, farther to the west, but there's nothing out there according to our latest intel." Obi Wan pointed to the place on the map of the planet.
"Incoming transmission sir" a clone approached us with his warning. Soon the hologram appeared and Master luminara popped up before us with a report.
"It appears to be a munitions container of some kind." She began to explain her findings.
"It could just be debris." Mundi suggested with doubt.
"I don't think so. There was no battle in this area."
"It looks like Poggle was on a direct course, 11 mark 72, that way." Buzz, her clone trooper, spoke while inspecting the container from a distance.
"Headed directly for the Progate Temple." Luminara noted.
"That makes no sense. Nothing in the temple could have survived the munitions we used in the first wave of our attack. Why would he risk exposure to go there?" I questioned next.
"I'm not yet sure." She mumbled. "Perhaps he doesn't realize the extent to which we cleared that area."
"Master Luminara, I'm tracking a sandstorm that's heading your way." Anakin joined us with his news.
"No matter. Poggle is out in the open, and I intend to grab him before he can get off-world." The green woman stated strongly.
"I advise against it. You might get lost in the storm." Mundi told her his personal warning.
"Then we'd have to find both you and Poggle." Kenobi reminded next.
"I feel it is a risk worth taking." She said.
"As you wish." Mundi hung up the transmission.
Standing around the base for hours we had all began to grow more restless and worried for the missing Master, some showing more than others.
"What could be taking her so long? Something must have happened." Anakin began to worry as he watched the sand storm just outside of the windows. I looked to my Master as we both stood over the holo table discussing the next plans while we waited calmly.
"Patience, Skywalker. It's a delicate operation. I'm sure we'll have more information soon." Mundi told him gently with his usual level of calmness.
"I must admit, I am troubled that we've not heard from her." My master agreed with his former Padawan, standing straighter.
"Let's not start worrying yet. Luminara's not one to take unnecessary risks." Mundi claimed. I grew uneasy but returned to focusing on battle plans to distract myself from any growing worry.
"Master Kenobi." The holotable lit up with an incoming transmission. I jumped back slightly as Luminara's sudden appearance startled me. "We tracked Poggle to the Progate Temple, but now there's no sign of him." She reported.
"Go no further until we can send support. The storm is making things difficult. We can barely read your transmission as it is." Kenobi instructed, joining me at my side.
"Are you sure he went into the temple?" Mundi asked with a questioning tone.
"Yes, we saw him enter, but I think he's gone down into the catacombs below." She explained.
"Those catacombs go on for miles. I fear we may have lost him." I pointed out.
"Get yourself out of there." My master told her urgently. She turned around quickly, igniting her lightsaber as a clone shouted out and the transmission cut out. "Master Unduli? Master Unduli!"
"We've lost the connection." Mundi reported earning a glare from Anakin.
"Where are you going?" Kenobi asked as Anakin walked off in a rush of frustration.
"Take a guess." He snapped back, pausing for a moment to look back at our group.
"We'll never get to her in this storm. The gunships can't handle it." Kenobi tried to reason with him.
"We can't wait!"
"I'm sorry, Skywalker. We have no choice. We must be patient and trust in Master Unduli." Mundi said.
"We'll leave as soon as the storm lifts." Kenobi promised. With a sigh Anakin agreed and we all waited out the passing sandstorm.
~~~

"You'll stay here with Master Mundi while we go find Master Unduli" my Master had told me as they prepared to leave.

"Yes, Master" I nodded and watched him off from beside Ki Adi.

"They'll be back soon and we need to be ready for them" he reminded me. Both of us turning on our heals moved back into the base. "I can handle this, Padawan. Go get some rest" the Jedi Master instructed to me.

~~~
"Our Masters are back" Ahsoka announced as she burst into our shared bunk room. "Oh sorry" the girl winced as she noticed I was resting.
"That's quite alright" I reassured her while standing up with a stretch to follow her back outside. Joining Master Mundi again the group of us flew towards our Masters location to find they had captured Poggle.
"I'm afraid we have a complication." Mundi started to tell them.
"Don't we always?" Anakin quipped back playfully.
"I've just received a distress signal from our forces on Dantooine." Mundi continued as he got closer to their group.
"Master Windu's defenses held, but at a great cost to his men. They need medical supplies immediately. We can obtain these supplies at the medical station near Ord Cestus."
"We're delivering Poggle to Coruscant, and Cestus is not exactly on the way." Anakin reminded the Jedi Master.
"The Republic must begin debriefing Poggle right away if we're to get useful intelligence from him." Luminara spoke up, siding with Anakin.
"Master, I suggest we let our Padawans handle the supply mission." Anakin suggested, stepping behind Ahsoka and I while looking to Luminara and Obi Wan. He placed each of his hands on one of my shoulders and one of Ahsokas.
"Whatever needs to be done, Master, I'm happy to help." Ahsoka tells them confidently.
"As am I." Barris stepped up.
"I'll help wherever you want me" I told my Master, more than ready to follow my given orders.
"Very well. Take a medical frigate. And after we've delivered Poggle to Coruscant, we'll rendezvous with you for the voyage to Dantooine." Obi Wan gave us our instructions.
With a nod and a wave I walked off with the two girls and we stepped onto the shuttle with our troopers.
"We are ready to make our jump, Master Fisto." I tell the master over a holocomm from inside the cockpit, the younger padawans behind me.
"Good, I look forward to your arrival." He smiled warmly to us before ending the call. The troopers gave us the good to go before jumping to hyperspace as we moved towards our room to get some well needed rest. Ahsoka sat on one of the lower bunks while I climbed above her into the top one. Barrie had taken the second lower bunk and laid down delicately on her back.
I felt Ahsoka tossing and turning restlessly below me, prompting me to peak an eye open at her movement. I smiled as I noticed her staring at Barris who slept comfortably with her eyes closed and still laying on her back.
"What? What is it?" Barris doesn't bother to open her eyes or face the girl. I laughed lightly, sitting up so that my feet dangled above the Togrutas bunk as the young girl sighed.
"It's too quiet. It's a big change from all the fighting the last few days." Ahsoka groaned.
"You should enjoy this peace while it lasts." Barris told her when she finally looked over to us both.
"I can't. Let's go eat." The girl suggested. With a smile I gladly hopped off of my top bunk and walked out into the hall with her. The halls were empty for the most part as all of the troopers were sleeping and resting up like we had attempted. Upon entering the mess hall we had served ourselves and took a seat at a nearby table.
"I was just thinking about what you said earlier, about enjoying the peace while it lasts." Ahsoka started, digging into her meal. "As a Jedi, I'm not sure I know how to do that." Ahsoka tried to explain her troubles and thoughts.
"Master Windu has said we are keepers of the peace, not warriors. However, once the war is over, it will be our job to maintain the peace." Barriss explained to the girl as I listened to their points on the topic, keeping my thoughts to myself, having been the one who was a Jedi before the war and during the war.
"Yes, but will we do so as keepers of the peace or warriors?" Ahsoka questioned again. "And what's the difference?"
"I don't have all the answers, Ahsoka. Like you, I am a learner. What does your Master tell you?"
"Anakin? Oh, um... You might find some of his thoughts on the future a bit radical." She started and I laughed lightly having known Anakin well enough.
"Really? Why?" Barris seemed amused.
"Let's just say my Master will always do what needs to be done. I'm not even sure how peacetime will agree with him." She smiled at the thought. Looking up at a new presence in the room I took note of the two troopers who had entered the mess hall. "Evening, Ox, Edge. Would you like to join us?" Ahsoka greeted the pair. They stood still and unresponsive while staring at us blankly.
"Is something wrong, troopers?"
