Prologue
As one of the old Purebloods of society, one of Sacred Twenty-Nine who practiced The Olde Ways, Potter manor was immense in its estate. Built in the Scottish highlands, John O'Groats in Caithness, Scotland. It was beautiful, the 10th century beige stone manor built with beautiful architecture, was surrounded by white snowy mountains painting the landscape along the horizon, emerald rolling hills as far as the eye can see, and a small forest sat to the left of the estate. Creatures of both magical and mundane nature inhabited the Potter estate both within the wards and outside of it adding to the beauty of the estate. Stables held both mundane horses and Abraxan horses of various colours - from palomino to chestnut. There were numerous gardens with perfectly trimmed hedges and bushes, flowers of various colours and breeds, lined the walkways to the gazebo and to the crystal blue lake.
The long, curled gravel driveway leading from the wrought iron gates at the edge of the wards, to the double oak front doors was lined with beautifully trimmed and styled hedges, only separated by the large fountain creating a curled driveway. The interior of the manor was styled with perfect elegance while also giving a homey feel. The foyer of Potter Manor was very grand. The floors were a checkered blue and white marble pattern, the walls a panelled crisp, fresh white with candelabras hanging from a very ornate and colourful ceiling. At the far end on the wall there was a painting in a golden frame with a dark wooden desk and chair beneath it. Statues, potted plants and suits of armour were dotted around very beautifully, a grand clock stood next to the large white marble stairs that had a silver railing wrapping around the curved staircase.
Potter manor held numerous suites and rooms within its grand halls, each white panelled walls hiding either the family suite or the sitting room, (behind thick, oak double doors), was lined with moving portraits of the prestigious ancestors that had added to the Wizarding world and the family name since its inception by creating a range of things, some of them being potions that were still being used to this day, created in the potions lab within these very walls. The study that both Euphemia and Monty used held a large stone fireplace linked to the Floo Network, a mountain of various books, grimoires from both their families - the Potter Grimoire dating back to its founder Ignotus Peverell - and accounting and business portfolios held within large, mahogany bookcases. The walls were painted a soft beige with laminate flooring, two mahogany desks faced the large windows with a clear view of the vast beautiful grounds.
The small library in the study was nothing compared to the large library that took up two floors. Dark oak laminate flooring gleamed in the candlelight, large floor to ceiling mahogany bookcases held voluminous books - some the size of paving slabs - as far as the eye can see and took up all available wall space, only broken up by the large window looking over the lake and mountains, a cushioned red and beige window seat took up the length of the wall length window, a mahogany staircase curled up to the second level with the rest of the books upon the balcony. Flower pattern rugs of creams and reds were placed strategically throughout the room, a plump light orange three-seater sofa sat in one of the corners covered with red and light beige cushions, a mahogany coffee table sat before it with four chairs placed behind the table, and finally two mahogany side tables sat on either end of the sofa holding moving photographs of Mia and Monty dancing in one and the other with both of their parents on their wedding day.
The walls of the living room or family room were painted a crisp, fresh white, with beech laminate flooring and a large chandelier bringing light to the room. The top of the room was taken up by a large grey stone fireplace with white bookcases on the side. To the left sat a mahogany piano which was slightly smaller than the grand piano in the music room, white plant pots sat on either side of the piano. In front of the fireplace was a red, gold and cream rug which was similar to the ones in the library, with a mahogany coffee table sat atop it.
On one side were two grey, floral armchairs with matching footstools, a plump red armchair sat facing the fireplace, and mahogany sideboards sat to the right of the room beneath an ornate mirror. And the walls held a few beautiful art designs sat within ornate frames, bringing colour and life into the room while the large windows hidden behind cream drapes would bring light into the room as it overlooked the gardens.
The family dinning room was in a complete contrast to the formal dining room, with its light coffee coloured walls, large windows overlooking the grounds, a bronze chandelier with dangling crystals hung from the ceiling bringing more light to the room, beech laminate flooring made the room seem brighter while a large, six seater mahogany dining table with matching chairs sat in the centre of the room with the mahogany sideboards holding tablecloths and napkins for both dining rooms sat along the edges of the room.
The kitchen ran mostly by the house-elves, unless Euphemia wanted to bake something, was decorated in cream coloured walls which could barely be seen by the numerous amount of white and grey sideboards holding all manner of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils, beech laminate flooring gleamed with cleanliness, while an oak door hid the entryway to the pantry, and another hid the utility room.
A door next to the kitchen and opposite the door leading down to the dungeons where the potion lab was located, led down into the wine cellar. As a stark contrast to the family dining room, the second was decorated elegantly as it was used for business and society means and had to convey the formality these events held. The walls were painted a dove grey standing out against the white ceiling and skirting boards, and the mahogany laminate flooring with three mirrors - two smaller rectangles and a larger one sat in the middle - on the wall boxed in by white painted wood on the wall. Beneath two of the smaller mirrors sat two silver mirrored sideboards holding a white lamp and a grey candelabra on each.
A long, thick walnut wood dining table sat in the middle of the room, surrounded by eight grey cushioned seats with the legs a matching wood to the table and a cushioned white chair sat on either end, the table was decorated by a long grey drape covering the full length of the table, white candelabras and a vase of white roses decorated the middle of the table. Beneath the table sat a fluffy white and grey rug, a large white crystal chandelier hung from the middle of the ceiling, and finally, large windows looked out over the lake.
The music room led out onto the patio through white double French doors, holding elegant tables and chairs and a swing seat for the beautiful summer months. The walls were painted a nice duck egg blue colour which matched well with the beige carpet and bronze coloured curtains, a large black grand piano sat in the corner of the room beside the French doors with a nice view out into the gardens. A white fireplace with matching mantlepiece sat in the middle of the wall besides the piano and a brown leather chair. Above the mantelpiece was a seaside painting, the waves splashing against the frames in such a way that you wondered if you'd get drenched if you got too close to the painting. A white fabric sofa sat beneath the large windows decorated with blue Aztec pattern cushions, a white extendable coffee table sat before the sofa, and brown leather end tables sat on either side of the sofa beholden with white lamps.

For a few years now Euphemia and Fleamont Potter have been trying for a baby with no such luck. Struck with the tragedy of numerous miscarriages as they were. But fortunately Lady Magic was smiling down on them one day in 1959, when she blessed them with not one baby, but twins. A wide smile spread across Euphemia's ageing but beautiful face as she left the parlour after seeing the Healer out, now intent on finding her husband. He had wanted to be with her for the appointment with the Healer but unfortunately he had a few new potions brewing that required his immediate attention, less he and their House Elves had to deal with the result of an explosion down in his lab. She could have easily sent for either Missy or Dara, or even one of the other elves to fetch her husband, however, she was simply too excited.
So, she made the trip herself down into the basement that had many wards and ventilation wards cast upon the room and the door so the potions and their fumes did not affect the rest of the manor. She stood by the door waiting as she knew the containment ward would alert her husband to her location and she was correct as not even a minute passed when Monty opened the door with a worried frown upon his face, his messy dark curls stuck up in all directions (likely from Monty running his hands through it with stress and anxiety, if she had to hazard a guess), and his glasses were a little fogged up and sliding down his nose.
"Mia? What's wrong, is everything all right?" He asked worriedly, taking his wife into his arms and tucking a loose blonde curl behind her ear that had escaped her simple chignon.
"Everything is perfect Monty. We have been blessed twice by Mother Magic. I'm two months pregnant Monty, with twins. And Healer Jones tells me that these two are much stronger than my other pregnancies." Mia told him with a wide grin.
It took a second for the words to sink in. But once they did Monty let out a cheer as he spun him and his wife around laughing raucously as if they were a young couple in their tweens. But they did not care. Monty stilled and kissed his wife passionately, a hand placed against the small bump that he just noticed now he knew it was there.
"This is wonderful Mia. I love you so much and it truly is a blessing from Mother Magic. We will have to give our thanks and we will have to celebrate." Monty declared passionately, causing Mia to smile widely. The string of miscarriages they had suffered had seriously affected them both, but to hear their babies were already stronger than the others despite being so early eased the pain in their hearts.
"I love you too Monty." Mia said tenderly, resting a hand on his cheek, only for their Lord and Lady rings to heat up a little, signalling a Wizengamot meeting had been called. Despite being Lady Potter due to her marriage, Euphemia was still Lady Le Fay (Brathiewait being half absolved into the Le Fay account and the Potter account), as Morgana Le Fay had stated only women could inherit her family line. Both Mia and Monty let out a despondent sigh as their evening was disrupted by the sudden summons. "Seems we will have to put these plans on hold for the moment, my love. But we will definitely have to thank Mother Magic later tonight." Mia told her husband sadly.
"Of course my darling." Monty agreed, pecking his wife's lips tenderly. "Missy." Monty called.
"What can Missy do for Master Monty and Mistress Mia?" Missy asked, as soon as she appeared with a soft pop, curtsying to the pair.
"We've been summoned to the Wizengamot. Could you please set out our best formal robes/ dress with the Wizengamot over robe please?" He asked.
"Of course Master." Missy agreed, Disapparating with a soft pop.
"I shall be right up to our room to change, my love, I just need to bottle these potions up." Monty assured.
"Okay darling." Mia said, brushing a curl out of her husband's bright hazel eyes before she headed for the stairs.
Entering the bedroom she shared with her husband, Mia went straight to their shared walk-in closet where their clothes for the Wizengamot had been set out on the rack in the middle for easy access. Much like the rest of the manor, the master bedroom suite is designed elegantly. The bedroom was decorated with purplish-grey walls, the white ceiling having a higher point almost like it had been scooped out making the room seem larger. A grey candelabra hung from the ceiling with smaller white ones on the wall, the mahogany flooring was mostly hidden by the camel coloured rug that sat in the centre of the room underneath the queen sized bed. Mahogany dressers sat on either side of the bed, a grey pinstripe armchair and footstool sat next to one of the large windows, the white curtains pulled back gave an even clearer view of the grounds and the trees where their horses, Thestrals and Hippogriffs roamed.
A mirrored wardrobe sat to the left of the bed holding all of the sheets and pillows for the bed, in between two oak doors that led into the en-suite and walk-in closet. The bed held a large beige, fabric headboard standing out against the purplish-grey walls with a matching bench at the foot of the bed and was decorated by white sheets and an assortment of beige cushions. The en-suite and closet were simply to die for. The bathroom was very bright and open with white walls, beech laminate flooring and large windows that let in a lot of light. An extremely large shower sat closest to the door that could hold two or even three people comfortably, opposite the door in front of the windows sat a large oval shaped bath, candles lined the ledge beside the bath beneath the windows, a white porcelain toilet sat between the bath and shower with a towel rack on the wall which heated with magic.
And to the right of the door sat a large built in cupboard holding all of the towels, wash mitts and other necessities, a long oak counter with a white marble countertop and sinks sat beside the cupboard and beneath two gleaming mirrors, a vase holding yellow roses brought colour and a beautiful aroma to the room.
The closet held the simple elegance and splendour that all of the rooms held. For it was decorated with shining back tiles that heated with magic as you entered so no worry of cold feet.
The walls were completely taken up by pine closets holding Mia's and Monty's clothes which were separated by either side of the room. A white beautiful dressing table was built into the space, an island sat in the middle of the room holding products for Mia on one side and for Monty on the other. A large, magnificent chandelier took centre space in the crisp white ceiling bringing a large amount of light to the windowless room.
As Mia entered the closet the lights flaring on automatically via magic, she slipped out of her current clothes - an elegant blue summer dress, dumping them into the laundry basket - Mia changed into a black dress that changed from satin to lace at her thighs and stopped at her shins, it also had a v-neckline and long sleeves. After slipping into black court heels, she put her hair up into a classic chignon, adding some simple makeup with pink lipstick. Just as she'd finished her makeup, Monty entered the closest pressing a kiss to the top of her head before he quickly changed into grey trousers, a white shirt, a black waistcoat, and black jacket and finally, black shoes shined to perfection. Dipping a comb into his Sleekeazy potion he quickly tamed his hair before the pair slipped on the gaudy plum Wizengamot robes.
"You look wonderful Mia even in these gaudy robes." Monty complimented, kissing her temple.
"Flatterer." Mia said, gently slapping his chest causing Monty to give a full belly laugh. "Come on you goofball, let's go before we are late." Mia said, leading the way to the main hall where a large fireplace stood that was connected to the Floo Network where they proceeded to Floo to the Ministry. Upon arriving in the Atrium they met up with Algie and Augusta Longbottom on the way to the lifts that they had to use to get to the Department of Mysteries.
"Augusta. Algie. How do you both fare?" Monty asked politely, as Mia greeted them.
"Monty, Mia we are both well thank you and yourselves?" Algie asked.
"We are exceedingly well thank you. Do you know what this is about?" Mia asked, confused.
"No. All I've heard is that Tom Riddle has taken up the mantle of Lord Slytherin and wishes to put forth a proposal." Augusta revealed.
"This is certainly going to be a long and interesting evening then." Monty sighed, knowing whatever the new Lord Slytherin puts forth Dumbledore will argue tooth and nail against. It looks like they will certainly be here awhile at the very least.
"Truer words have never been spoken." Algie agreed.
Arriving in the Department of Mysteries, the quartet greeted many of the Lords and Ladies as they made their way into the Wizengamot Meeting room. It was a rather spacious room that held a rather large 'D' shaped table with numerous chairs around its edges. Each of the chairs had a name inscribed upon the back signalling the seats they were to sit at, but with each being on the same level there was not one in the now, fifty-five Lords and Ladies, that was higher than the other. Well, at least in this room at any rate.
Noticing that everyone was now in the room, Mia and Monty finished their separate conversations- with Lord Shacklebolt and Lady Greengrass - they took their seats like everyone else, the room was sealed now that Dumbledore had finally graced them with his presence, ten minutes late.
"Now that Chief Warlock is here I'd like to introduce Lord Marvolo Tom Riddle Slytherin to the Wizengamot. It was he who requested this meeting." Minister Millicent Bagnold stated, she gestured to the new Lord and retook her seat.
"Minister, I really -" Dumbledore protested.
"I know many of you have no doubt heard what I had dubbed myself while I was immature and still in school and my plans for I had feared no one would listen if I took the political route." Lord Marvolo interrupted, getting to his feet. He still had his good looks, dark hair and his charm, the only difference was his red eyes. "But, I can assure you that is no longer the case. What I propose before you all is thus; I propose that we introduce Muggle-Raised witches and wizards into our society early and keep an eye on them in the Muggle World or remove them entirely. Not only does this lower the risk of exposure to our world, but Muggles fear what they don't understand, and when they are afraid they attack." Lord Marvolo stated, obviously speaking from personal experience.
"And how do you propose we do this?" Lord Henry Abbott asked shrewdly.
"Check the Hogwarts Registry regularly as it records the first sign of magic, set up a school for them before they attend Hogwarts at age eleven so they can learn our way of life, so we do not lose it by pandering to Muggle views and traditions. We are not the Muggle world." Lord Marvolo replied immediately.
"We agree." Mia said, speaking for herself and Monty, and ignoring Dumbledore's looks. They were neutral - Dark Grey - and they had their babies to think of. "If we do not change our ways now then magic will be gone from Britain in the next hundred years."
A shocked outcry burst forth at that revelation and it took several moments for everyone to calm down before she could continue.
"We have also discovered that Muggleborns are descended from squibs who were cast out. They can even claim long thought extinct lines via Gringotts. A Muggleborn colleague of mine in the Unspeakable department claimed the Bramworth Line when we discovered this. We have also discovered the reason for squibs and therefore Muggleborns, it is due to marrying close relations." Mia revealed.
"With these revelations we then need to stop banning magic." Lord Arcturus Black thundered, while he made sure none of his other family members married each other apart from Walburga and Orion who were about to give birth to their firstborn.
"It is a slight to Mother Magic. Magic is not Light and Dark. It is that and every shade in between. It is all about intent, you can kill someone as easily with the Levitation Charm as you can with an Unforgivable. We bring back all of our traditions and we bring back magic to Britain, stronger than ever."
"The Traditions and our holidays are a must to come back." Lord Abraxas Malfoy stated. "Imbolc is held on the February 1st and was once a sacred day for both the Light and Dark sides. It's a celebration of life and rebirth, held on February 1st to welcome in the Spring. Celebrating the wellbeing of magic in the crops and babies. It's a renewal of life, energy, and strength. It also consisted of ritualised purification baths and celebratory bonfires. It is celebrated from February 1st through to sundown on February 2nd.
Ostara marks the Vernal Equinox or the March Equinox and is held between the 19th to the 22nd of March. It is also known as the Alban Eilir to modern Druid traditions, this holiday is the second of three spring celebrations (the midpoint between Imbolc and Beltane), during which light and darkness are again in balance, with light on the rise. It is a time of new beginnings and of life emerging further from the grips of winter. Like Imbolc, Ostara symbolizes fertility, rebirth, and renewal. This time of year is marked by the beginning of the agricultural cycle, and farmers would start planting the seeds. In medieval times in Europe, the March hare was seen as a fertility symbol, and a sign of spring.
However, today, we might go outside to meditate and perform a simple ritual to welcome the spring. Another common way to celebrate the coming spring is to plant seeds. Some families incorporate seasonal candy, such as peeps and chocolate rabbits, with their kids to help them get in the spirit of the event. Which the Muggles have also borrowed.
Beltane is our ritual in May and it's a ritual for health, fertility, and prosperity. It involves ritualistic sex. Though, who don't wish to participate in the sex do not have to, however, they cannot judge others for doing so. If both participants are of age and are entering this willingly, which is a requirement of the ritual, what is the harm? Those who don't wish to participate in the sex part of that traditional ritual, can participate in the blessing of the fields, of Mother Magic and her ancestors.
Litha, is our next holiday and ritual. Held between 19th and the 23rd of June, and is also known as Midsummer, the term of which the Muggles have borrowed once again. The sun is in its greatest strength and is greeted and celebrated on this holiday. While it is the time of greatest strength of the solar current, it also marks a turning point, for the sun also begins its time of decline as the wheel of the year turns. It is arguably, the most important festival of the Wizarding World traditions, due to the great focus on the sun and its light as a symbol of divine inspiration. It is celebrated with hilltop bonfires and dancing.
However, some people find a quiet spot and meditate about the light and dark forces in their world. While others, particularly those of us with children, celebrate this holiday outside. Lastly, some choose to observe Litha more traditionally, and they would hold a fire ritual. This might include a large bonfire, or a small fire in a fire-safe spot in one's house. Litha is also considered a good time to practice love, magic and get married. The version of this ceremony is called, as some of us know, handfasting, and it includes many of the same practices one might find at a wedding.
Lughnasadh, which is also called Lammas, is a sacred day marking the beginning of harvest on August 1st. It honored the Celtic God of Lugh. The holiday honours Lugh, the Celtic god of light, but it also celebrates his mythical foster mother Tailtiu, who is said to have cleared the lands of Ireland to make way for the planting of crops. We celebrate Lughnasadh as a harvest festival, when the first crops of the year would traditionally have been reaped, along with celebrating the holiday with feasting, songs, and games. Some honour the harvest roots of the holiday by baking breads and cakes. Finally, the name Lammas, derives from the Old English term for "loaf mass." It originated from early English celebrations of harvest time, during which loaves of bread were consecrated.
Mabon is our ritual for the Autumn Equinox in September, which takes place between September 21st to the 24th, it's a welcoming of the Dark. Recognising that life is a cycle and that Death is a natural part of life. Night is as necessary as Day. Winter lets the Earth rest in preparation for the coming Spring and Summer. It is the second harvest festival and a ritual of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and a recognition of the need to share them to secure the blessings of the Goddess of Magic during the coming winter months. Many of us choose to have a huge feast on this day with our family and friends using seasonal foods such as apples, grapes, root vegetables and other seasonal products.
Samhain is on November 1st, and while some people, mainly those in the Light who have been misinformed by those who should really know better, view it as Necromancy, but it's really a time to meditate. A time to seek the presence of the people you love, who have passed on to the afterlife. A time for reflection, seeking love and advice. In some rituals the spirits of the departed are invited to attend the festivities. It is seen as a festival of darkness, which is balanced at the opposite point of the wheel by the festival of Beltane, which is celebrated as a festival of light and fertility.
And finally, Yule. Yule which is naturally in December. It's a time for feasting and giving. Giving thanks to Mother Magic herself in a burnt offering of meat and grain of life. A Yule log burns for days to symbolise the perseverance of life through the cold, dark winter and if your blessing has been accepted by Mother Magic she will bless your family and keep the Yule log burning well into January.
It's a time for gathering family, friends, and allies to always prove that they will be there for each other through the difficult season. It's time, my friends, to acknowledge Mother Magic and how she supports her blessed children and helps them to survive." Lord Malfoy finished explaining the in and outs of the traditional celebrations and the rituals involved, knowing a certain someone may try and talk his way out of this, shocking all of Dumbledore's supports who realised they had been lied to and the traditions were nothing like they had been made out to believe they were.
"We also need to stop segregating members of our society for being Magical Creatures, full blooded or partly." Lord Longbottom added. "They have been blessed by Mother Magic and we are only making her angry. Yes, there are some like Fenrir who attack children but there are bad eggs in everything including witches and wizards."
Murmurs of agreement from everyone go around the room much to Dumbledore's ire and disgust.
'This was not supposed to be happening! I cannot lose control!' Dumbledore thought angrily.
"Tom was prepared to instigate a war!" Dumbledore thundered.
"The only one here who is trying to insight a war is you, Dumbledore. And you have not been given leave to use his new name." Monty said coldly. "All those in favour of not only bringing back all traditions, creating a school for young Muggle-Raised witches and wizards, regularly monitoring both the children in the Muggle world - removing them if necessary - and regularly monitoring the Hogwarts Registry; raise your lit wands and say, 'Aye'." Monty said, raising his own lit wand, followed by everyone in the room minus Dumbledore.
Sighing in annoyance Dumbledore banged the gavel with a mutter, 'all motions passed.'
With plans made to set things into motion as soon as possible, and making plans to hold another meeting in two months to see how things were progressing the meeting was adjourned, and Mia and Monty returned home to Potter manor where they gave thanks to Mother Magic by dropping a few of their hairs and a sweetbread into a roaring fire. A happy smile adorned their faces when the flames turned turquoise signally their offering had been accepted. It was going to be a better year and a better pregnancy than the last.
***
Seven months later, on March 27th 1960 - Monty's 42nd birthday - at 10:30am and 10:40am, Mia gave birth to two beautiful, healthy and magically powerful babies. A son and a daughter.
