Chapter Eight, Window to Time Pass

Monday 9th September 1971

Dear Reggie,

Hogwarts is amazing and you would most certainly love it! Especially how much like Lanthe you are, little brother, are you sure you're not her brother? I'm joking! I love you little brother and I want you to know now, so you have proof, that no matter what House you're in and no matter what you do that will never change!

I love you and I'm so proud of you! I reckon next year you will either be a Ravenclaw like Lanthe, Dora, Erin, Apollo and Barty or a Slytherin like Dromeda, Batsy, Cissa and Bella. We had a prank war the other day after Barty found this amazing room!! It just appeared out of nowhere on the seventh floor when we were exploring trying to find somewhere to hold the war so as not to damage this beautiful castle, and I swear it wasn't there to begin with!!

We asked Dromeda and Cissa about it afterwards and they said its called the Room of Requirement or the Come and Go Room and only appears when someone has real need of it and is always equipped with the seekers needs, how amazing is that? Siriusly 😉I have no idea how they do it!!!

Could you tell Mum and Dad to watch out for the Edgecombe family. Their daughter Bella, who's in my year, is a little unhinged. She tried to bully Lanthe all because she sat at the Gryffindor table instead of the Ravenclaw one and tried to bully her regarding the bond she has with James. Plus, she kept going on about how she would marry me, become Lady Black, and turn our House to the Light. She got a detention with Frank's mother Deputy Longbottom after Marlene punched her – it was an amazing punch, knocked her on her arse.

I'm sending you a copy of my timetable so you can look at what classes we take, so far I'm loving Transfiguration with Professor Steven Goldstein, Duelling as an extracurricular with Evan Goodman, and Defence with Professor Jordan Copper. I can't wait to try-out for Quidditch next year though. How has the last few weeks been at Magus Primaria with your friends? I want to know everything!!!!

I've got to head to Potions now with Professor Slughorn (who adores James and Lanthe, but Lanthe more so), but I will send you another letter soon. Next week James is sending you a letter.

Monday 16th September 1971

Dear little Reggie,

You would not believe how amazing Hogwarts is! Just the castle alone, Hogwarts A History really doesn't do it justice. Headmistress Minerva McGonagall is without a shadow of a doubt the best Headmistress Hogwarts has seen in years.

There's more classes and more extracurricular activities. I know Sirius sent you a copy of his timetable, so I won't send you a copy. There is more support towards us students then there was before Minnie became Headmistress, as once a month starting from October we have meetings with our Head of House. The Gryffindors are paired with Ravenclaw for lessons and the Hufflepuffs with Slytherin.

Mondays start off with Potions and Professor Slughorn at 8:30 for an hour, then History of Magic with Professor Nott (Theo's Dad) which is actually more interesting than it sounds, and I would say it is in my top five for sure, along with Transfiguration, Charms, Flying, and Potions. In Duelling, we haven't learnt any new spells yet (once we do we will let you know and teach you at Yule), but instead we are learning all the different stances which apparently makes you less of a target and easier to duel.

Again, I promise we will teach you at Yule. With help from all of us you and Ambrose will be top of your year when you start next year, I promise.

Monday 23rd September 1971

To my favourite Black,

Don't tell Sirius, he is so dramatic sometimes and then Jamie will curse him and will probably make sure the blue in his hair won't wear off for a while this time. I miss you so, so much!
It feels so weird not doing potions with you while my Daddy watches over us, teaching us! I am counting down the days till Yule when we can do so once more. Although, completing the Samhain ritual with only Dromeda and Cissa as part of our family is going to be incredibly weird. I am so sorry you are alone for the ritual with only Bella, Rodo and the adults.

The magic around the school and grounds is humming with delight with each ritual that is paid To Mother Magic within the school grounds ever since Headmistress McGonagall took over. I can literally feel the charged air around us, it's so thick with magic. Sometimes with the abilities that come from Morgana is rather taxing, but Jamie is always there to give me a boost through the Twin Bond, and he and Sirius are always so protective over me. It can be rather annoying sometimes, but I love them, nonetheless.

Guess what Dora and I found yesterday!! A nest of Bowtruckles in a redwood tree near the Black Lake, at the edge of the Forbidden Forest!! They are so adorable, and each have their own personality. They are wary, rightly so, as it is a wandtree, but we were slowly gaining their trust with some woodlice. Pandora and I have agreed to try and find different creatures each week, but we have yet to step fully into the Forbidden Forest, so don't worry.

I'm going to ask Dromeda or Cissa to get a camera from Hogsmeade the next time they go there so we can all send you some pictures, also in Art class Marlene and I are going to try and paint a picture of some of the grounds for Yule presents (little secret). In third year we get to learn Alchemy, Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Runes, Arithmancy and many more and I have no idea what I will choose next year during the Spring Equinox.

Happy Samhain littlest cousin,

Has everyone in school been nice to you still? If not we can always send you some prank items to make them see sense.

What have you been up to Reggie? We want to know everything that happens to you and what you do, like we inform you.

Oh no, Reggie, Erin's mad. You best run for the hills.

Idiots all of you!!! Why do I have to be twins with you Apollo? Being twins with Reggie or Lanthe would be much better! Actually, Lanthe is more preferable than I wouldn't be the only girl!! Molly doesn't count she's so bossy!

Now sister, you wound me so!

Although, we have to agree with you sweet Erin about Molly. And that's coming from me, her brother. We hope you have been pulling off a lot of pranks, Reggie.

You can get away with a lot with your sweet puppy eyes. So innocent like Iolanthe. Did you hear she and James won the second prank war we held last weekend. We really must do something about that! Maybe separate them, what do you think Reggie?

Let us know what Samhain prank you pull this year Reggie. We miss you.

We are very proud of your scores in Herbology last week. You definitely have a green thumb like your Grandma Melania. Keep mischief making little fox!
