Chapter Thirteen: Indigo's Past
As we sat down I gathered the nearest broken or snapped tree branches and placed them on top of each other carefully. Then I used Ember (the move) to ignite the hollow individual branches one by one. Soon I had a medium sized fire going on with occasional cackles that screamed from the depth of the fire.
We all scuttled towards the warming source of energy that danced in the gloomy darkness, well everyone except Indigo.
"What's the m-matter aren't y-y-you cold?" Asked Bell with her teeth uncontrollably chattering together.
"I'm freezing but.... but I just don't want you to see me. That's all." Indigo's facial expressions dropped to reveal a sad and embarrassed pokemon, that looked ashamed about themself.
"Well... I don't think your ugly." I thought kindly but didn't realise I actually said it out loud.
Oh this is awkward......
I felt everyone's stare bounce off of Indigo and then slap onto me. I looked at them all then, reversed away from the fire so they couldn't see me obviously blushing.
Then Ember pipped up saying "Flame is right, beauty is in yourself not on yourself. It doesn't matter what you look like, it's the personality that counts."
"Wow, that's sooo TRUE!!!." Flicker burst out breaking the wise and powerful moment.
Indigo finally started to shift towards the burning branches slowly but very carefully. Then she stopped so we could all see her in full light.
As we already knew Indigo was smaller then other Vulpix's, she was a shiny, and she had a couple of scars on her body. But when she came into the blazing light she had loads more scars and, a massive scratch wound that hadn't healed over her left eye.
"What the hell happe-" loudly started Flicker but I nudged him harshly to show he sounded very insensitive so, he stopped dead.
"It's ok. I knew I had to explain one way or another."Indigo deeply exhaled.
"You don't have to." I explained with a serious look in my wide brown eyes.
"Yes I do."
*Flashback*
(Indigo as a very young child trying to make friends with a Torchic and Pichu.)
"You see when I was small I was a lot more undersized then all the other's and because I was also a shiny, pokemon hated me more. They didn't like me because I was different..."
(Torchic making fun of Indigo's coloring and Pichu laughing at the insults)
"Soon the insults and bullying became more intense. They would show up to where I was living and threaten me or even hurt me." Indigo was now looking at her body with tears silently falling from her haunted face.
*Flashback over*
Everyone was silent and stiff. Bell also had tears rolling down her face, Ember looking intensely into the fire as if she wanted answers to why pokemon would do that, Flicker was staring at me with a dazed look and I just sat there emotionless thinking hard.
Wow she's had it really hard. I want her to be safe and not be worried anymore because I can see how much this had effected her. Where were her parents then?
As if she read my mind she carried on.
"Now I know your thinking 'where were my parents' well I can tell you they got killed right in front of me."
*Another Flashback*
(Destructive vibrations violently whipped tree's until they collapsed with ear splitting crashes, fire everywhere cornering pokemon to there death and weird creatures that stood up on two legs were kidnapping pokemon or killing them)
"I don't know where they came from but it all just happened so fast. My father tried to protect me and my mother but, he got shot with this metal thing that made a deafening sound everytime it got fired.
(Limp body of a Ninetales lying on the floor with another howling right by it's side sounding heart broken)
"Then they shot my mother because she wouldn't obey their evil commands." Indigo's voice was breaking with pain and heartache.
*Flashback over*
"They left. Leaving me to fend for myself taking away everything that was dear to me. The bullies didn't come looking for me after that so I moved away from my home and came here to find safety. I hadn't seen these weird thing's for years until a few day's ago when they set the northern part of the forest alight."
"Wait.... they were the people who slaughtered my parents as well for no reason!" Barked Bell through gritted teeth.
"And they kidnapped both our parents and brother!" Shouted Ember, her voice echoing over the darkened land.
That must have been terrible seeing your family get killed right in front of you. At least we know our family is alive. Wait how do we know?
"It still traumatises you doesn't it?" Flicker spoke gently.
Indigo nodded, more tears streaming from her shadowed face and onto the hard cracked ground.
I need to do something about this.
