Chapter Seventeen: Change Can Be A Bad Thing
"Dust, is that you?" Ember breathed approaching us with caution. She studied Dust like she had never seen him before.
"Sis, it's me! Don't worry. Come here, I haven't seen you in ages!" Dust tried to shuffle towards Ember but she backed away immediately.
"Your not Dust ." She replied quickly with no emotion in her voice.
"What? What do you mean I'm not Dust? Of course I am you silly Swanna!" He answered lightly chuckling to himself.
Everyone backed away from Dust as soon as he finished his sentence. I then felt three pairs of eyes shift onto me to look for advice.
"I don't trust you 'Dust'." Ember sneered raising her eyebrows when she said his name. Her mocking smile made her look deadly and unpredictable.
"What do you mean you don't trust me, I'm your brother!" Dust started to get angrier with every word. He seemed to get annoyed more easily now, which would make everyone else's temper grow shorter.
"Um ok bro, cool it." Flicker said uneasily looking back at me when he spoke.
"Heh, yeah sorry um... being a 'pet' really takes it's toll on a pokémon like me."
What is he on about? A pokémon like him. A pokémon like him never gets angry, they would rather run then fight. Ember's right there's something wrong about him. He's not the Dust I used to know. He's changed.
"What do you mean a pokémon like you? From what I've heard you were the laid back one, who didn't like getting angry at all." Burst out Indigo who didn't look happy about the situation.
"I used to be but, because I have been trapped in that pokéball for long amounts of time it really has changed the way I think about things."
"So what is that thing that captured you then?" Bell whispered quietly from within the shadows.
"Huh? What... who said that?" Asked Dust looking puzzled.
Bell slowly crept into sight, her body low on the ground not making eye contact with anyone.
"Oh I see! You have another new member of the gang but no offence this one isn't as cute as the Vulpix." Dust grinned seeing that he had really annoyed me now which wasn't a good idea.
But regardless he carried on.
"Anyway my master is called Joey he is a human... well a little one but he will grow."
"What does he live in? And why has he captured you? Can't you escape?" Probed Indigo with interest.
"Well, he lives in a house but sometimes he calls it home. He didn't captured me. I was captured by someone else but I was given to him as a gift and the ball doesn't let me escape. It's got this weird power to it that I can't really explain but it's powerful!" Dust exclaimed with pride.
"But ever since Joey saw you he wanted you. He wanted you more then Flame." Dust beamed at Indigo then when she looked away he stared at me weirdly.
I knew it! He's going to try and take Indigo away, but if I do something, someone is going to get hurt. Oh I wish Bruce was here... Wait where in the heck did he go? Anyway Dust needs to go now before it's too late.
"Dust, I think it's time you ran back to you master I think its past your nap time." I growled at Dust, then I looked at the others.
"Come on, lets go. We need to go find our Pelipper." I was just about to take a step forward when I was tackled to the ground with such force that it left me stunned for a few seconds.
As I shot up onto my feet I saw Dust smile grimly.
"What's the matter? Meowth got your tongue?"
HOW DARE HE!
I clenched my teeth with such force that they made a thunderous grinding noise. Then I cracked my shoulders so I was ready to battle.
Brother or not he was going down.
