Chapter Seven: OAP: Old Aged Pelipper

It seemed like many hours had slipped by. We had trekked through most of the forest, came across multiple clearings, and been in meadows that should have been magnificent, where the wildlife once buzzed freely. But now it looked like a deserted wasteland, ripped apart by tracks and alien type markings. Wind often whispered through the remaining tall patches of yellowing grass, and burnt remains of trees that had salvaged a few leaves. The wind may have snaked it's way into this area but it felt like the winds shadow instead as nothing moved. Everything was eerily still with no signs of live to be saved.

We watched the sky transform from a forbidden yet mysterious dark canvas in the sky, to a bright hopeful and encouraging source of light. The sun also followed us, determined to keep up with our never ending movement.

Our pads on our paws were worn down and sore, our mouths were dry and every bit irritating, we all just wanted to take a break but no one stopped. Moments later exhaustion finally hit Bell and Flicker's body sending them to the floor in a motionless heap. As they impacted with the hard, dry ground they released a mini dust cloud which got into everyone's eyes, nose and mouth. All I could hear was frantic spluttering which I joined in on. When the cloud had settled back down from where it came from, Ember had sat down graciously yet cautiously next to the two Pokemon who were not moving. Turning around so I didn't face them I looked towards the horizon, scanning it, seeing if there was any dangers ahead. All I could see though was more tracks, grass and a few trees dotted around the open meadow. I could see for miles, so any sign of danger I would see it straight away.

"I-I-I can't d-do this, I've never d-done this much e-exercise in my life." Gasped Flicker, he was having difficulty breathing along with not being able to move anymore. He was able to twist around so, now he was flat on his back, looking directly up at the sky.

"Water....... need ....... wat......er." Whispered Bell in a hoarse tone, her head had been on the grubby, murky floor but, she had moved closer to Flicker now resting her head on his belly.

I looked around, obviously there wasn't any water that was near I could see but, I tried. To me, we were just in another meadow that was slightly more healthier then the rest. The track of markings that we had followed were still very visible. Nearby I saw a miniature raised piece of land and decided to climb it so I could see more of the land around us. All I could see though was just continuous fluffy mint green grass, a few tall, towering soft green trees, and some overgrown sitrus bushes near the east of the meadow. Directly in front of me were the tracks we had to follow, they seemed to go on endlessly, but they would have to come to an end soon enough.

"Um... I don't think there is any." I said slowly, trying not to talk as much because my mouth was extremely sore from the lack of water. I was also trying to narrow my eyes as much as possible to see if I could spot anything that would help us. Multitasking was not my strong point.

"No, really?!" Ember sarcastically choked. She had now joined me and my search for anything that would benefit our needs. She turned her head slowly from left to right but gave up when she knew it was hopeless.

Even though we were all going to die from dehydration Ember still had to make me look dumb.

The sun had risen now leaving the sky a fusion of red, pink, orange and blue. The grass was a healthy colour green whipping at our bodies when we hiked through it. A light fluttering breeze passed by us tickling Ember's and my ears. Everything seemed ok until I tried to swallow.

"We need help." Ember scratched.

"I know but where from?" I croaked.

"Maybe you could travel ahead and see if there is any water or pokemon-" Ember started.

"No I'm not leaving you, your the only one who can stand up let alone battle."

"Flame if you don't go I will and I don't know where we are at the moment." Wheezed Ember.

What do I do if I stay and she goes she'll get hurt, and if I go they will all get hurt. We need water no question about it but where? Think Flame think!!

"Well?" Ember coughed breaking my chain of thought.

I was just about to say something when I got interrupted by a very jolly deep voice.

"Hellllloooo down there wee pips what are yah doing here in this field?" Questioned a old but very happy Pelipper.

"Sir, please sir could you help us?" I asked quietly, my throat was burning now.

"I'm sorry laddie you'll have to speak up I can't hear yah very well, my hearings not what it used to be." Chuckled the Pelipper circling us until all of our heads were just following the energetic character round and around and around.

"Sir plea-" I began

"Whaaaaa?" Called the Pelipper.

If you would just let me finish then you'd know what I was trying to say. I thought angrily.

"Mr Pelipper could you come down pleas-" I started again but was interrupted once again by the Pelipper.

"No use me dear boy I'll have to come down and see what you want." He shouted flying over to us.

Thank arceus for that.

As he approached us the wind blew violently making him turn to the left suddenly then the right so it looked like he fighting with mid- air. Then he spun around awkwardly plummeting to the ground with no control.
He's going to crash!!!! What do I do? I'll catch him. No you won't. Yes I will. Look stop arguing with yourself and save that old pokemon!

Before I even had time to think I was charging at the spot where the Pelipper and the ground would collide at any second.

*crash*

All the wind was knocked out of my body leaving me flat on the ground but at least the Pelipper was ok.

"Haha that was fun! Laddie? Laddie? Where are you laddie?" Chuckled the Pelipper.

"Here." I squeaked.

" What yah doing down there? You should really mind where yah going or you could get hurt." He shuffled off of me grabbed my tail and dusted me off.

"What's your name sir?" Ember politely asked.

"Me name's Bruce, what are you called lassie?" Bruce asked.

"I'm Ember, that's Flame, that's Flicker, and that's Bell." She turned to each of us one by one.

"So what are yah doing out here then?" Bruce said poking Flicker with a large feather.

As Ember was explaining why we had come here Bruce interrupted once again.

"Them things that took your parents are called hommon's or are they called heople? Well the point is I know where they have gone!"

"You do?" We all chimed together even Bell and Flicker joined in.

"Yes why?"

"Could you show us the way?" Ember wondered.

"He doesn't have to" I quickly said.

If he comes I'll have to look after three kids and a old guy. This is way to much responsibility.

"I can show you but it's a long way." Chirped Bruce ignoring me.

"How do you know so much about hommons?" Questioned Ember with too much curiosity.

Noooo don't ask him that he'll never shut up!!!!

"I was captured!" Bruce said loudly.

"Did you die?" Asked Flicker worriedly.

"I don't think so" answered Bruce truthfully.

Oh brother!

As we listened to Bruce's life story Bell and Flicker had regained some of their strength so they were sitting up with interest in their gleaming eyes. Me on the other paw wasn't listening I was thinking:
This is gonna be a long day.
