Chapter Four: They've Gone...

'I- I can't hold on, what do I do?' I thought to myself feeling the burning sensation everywhere on my body. My muscles were beginning to lock up due to the amount of water crashing upon me. I could feel the watery pain over taking my lungs, a few more seconds and I wouldn't be able to breathe. My eyes were a useless function as I couldn't see anything except water.

"FLAME!!!!" I heard Ember scream, but a sob was caught in her throat too.

The merciless water had now formed a dome like figure around me, so the sound that entered in it, echoed eerily. I tried as much as I could to answer back but the fear of collapsing was beginning to become a reality. All my joints felt massively heavy. My legs suddenly gave way to the crashing waves, I now was on my last bit of strength. I could feel my heart getting slower and slower with every second that slipped by. I became weak.

"No need to worry, when we kill him you're next." Chuckled Bubble grimly. The little Ducklett was becoming more demented, and unhinged due to the power he was gaining through torture.

As he said that I felt one of the water guns lift off of me, so I took the opportunity to sprint everywhere and anywhere my legs could carry me.

*Crash, Bang, Crunch*

Excruciating pain hit my forehead like I had just been hit with the notoriously intense rock move Head Smash several times. Luckily the Pokemon targeting us couldn't use that move for real because if they could, we'd be lucky to get away with our lives. On the upper side another water gun had split off leaving just two left. The pressure had lifted immensely but, it was still damaging to say the least.

The water dome had now departed so I could reclaim my eyes to see where I was. It wasn't pretty.

Flicker was fighting off the Poliwag, biting it with all the strength he had in his lower jaw. His canine teeth greeting the skin of the Pokemon, not letting go at all. He looked pretty happy which was strange in this situation, but I wasn't going to tell him otherwise.

Ember however, had tackled Bubble to the floor, she was pulling out random feathers in different places so he looked even more uglier now. His patchy skin was now visible, to anyone who didn't know how Bubble really lost his feathers, it seemed like he had succumbed to a deadly illness. He tried to wriggle and struggle against Ember's force but, she was ready to kill. Her eyes were hollow, her claws like knives engraving Bubbles skin. I could hardly see where her paws were as they were moving rapidly. Her teeth were also joining in on the fun, shredding Bubbles feathers and skin in turn.

"Get off of me you worthless Pokemon!" Screeched Bubble, he flailed hopelessly against Ember but, she was much stronger then he'd ever be.

The two water guns that was still shooting at me then directed onto Ember, which threw her off of the deranged Pokemon.

"You fool how dare you!" Spat Bubble "Forget Flame this piece of dirt is going to die now and painfully." Snorted the patchy Ducklett.

'Not on my watch you pathetic, worthless, sad little moron. Have to have others to help you instead of doing things on your own.... Weak excuse for a Pokemon!'

I bolted at the unsuspecting Tympole, picking up speed and strength with every step, he was so busy trying to knock out my beloved sister with his mere feeble water gun, that he didn't even see me flying towards him with the most power I've ever created.

'What's that feeling?'

I started to feel warmth emitting from my insides.

'That can't be right, I just nearly drowned... How have I obtained this power from no where? I feel the strongest I've ever been. It's as if I could take on anything and win.'

I lowered my head ready for impact. My eyes firmly locked onto my target. I was just a couple of meters away, my legs were working so hard I couldn't feel or see them anymore.

"Aaaaagggggghhhhhh......" Squealed the hit Tympole.

My head had made contact with its slimy body sending it into a rigid tree trunk. Weirdly my head wasn't pounding from the impact. I just felt more aggravated and had a deep desire to hurt the other Pokemon inflicting pain on my undeserving siblings

Tympole slithered to the ground clearly unconscious by the critical hit. It's body looked like it was going to stay unconscious for a long time to come.

"One down three to go." I mumbled, eyeing my victim with a pleasurable warmth seeping through my veins.

The next thing I saw was the bitten and battered Poliwag flying through mid-air and splattering onto a sharp jagged rock. It wasn't a pretty sight but it fed the hungry desire that was taking control of me.

"Two to go." I whispered to Flicker as he came over from his battling place to join me. He looked different now, not the clumsy playful pup I came to know and love but, a tough warrior that didn't take crap from nobody. He also looked extremely annoyed now with his eyes fixed on the next rival Pokemon. As he looked up at me, his demeanour converted back into the Flicker I knew before everything had changed, but then when he looked at the thuggish Pokemon he had turned again.

"You will never get to your sister in time. She will be long gone before you get past me." Snorted the boisterous and obnoxious Croconaw.

The energy inside me was getting stronger by the second, I had no more patience left. I nodded to Flicker he gave me a unsure look but, he trusted me with his warm gentle eyes that were only directed into me.

Suddenly we both used flamethrower on the smirking Croconaw turning him into a cremated crispy Pokemon. The flamethrower lasted longer then we've ever done, it felt like a life time before we ran out of breath. Let's just say the Croconaw wasn't smirking anymore. Matter of fact he wasn't even moving, but that was non of my concern.

"Now we need to help Ember and Bell." Breathed Flicker, his chest pounding up and down methodically, he was struggling to even usher a word.

But when we turned around they weren't there..... They both weren't there.

"W-w-what! Surely w-we would have heard them." I stuttered. My mind was racing with all the bad scenarios that could happen to them. My heart jumping out of my chest, my brain telling me to do something. It felt as if everything was screaming at me to do something but I just stood there, frozen to the spot. Then the warmth that had spread all over my body intensified, it was painful at first but, then felt relaxing. I felt powerful. Not weak. Powerful. I could do anything I put my mind to at that point in time.

I had all the power I needed to destroy Bubble.

"If you want them back you have to come find me..." laughed a sick mocking voice that belonged to Bubble.

"Why is Bubble doing this?" Whimpered Flicker regaining his innocence.

"I don't know but his games are getting ridiculous and tiring," I barked. "I've had enough of this."

My eyes darted around and noticed fluffy grey rocks laying on the ground. When I looked closer they were actually clumps of mangled feathers that were bitten off of Bubble by Ember. There was a trail of mashed up feathers on the ground leading out of the clearing and into the deepest part of the forest, that was the opposite of the direction we came from.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go." Flicker said seeing the feathers and pushing me in front.

'I have a bad feeling about this.... but someone is gonna burst Bubble's bubble and that someone is going to be me. Nobody messes with my family. I know I can do this, I just have to believe in myself.'

My senses were on fire which felt deliciously soothing, and all I could think about was getting my family back. I had no time for cowards.

I travelled deeper into the darker and more eerie part of the forest leaving my fears behind.
