Life of an Agent (Transformers Prime Seasons 1 & 2) Chapter 42
Aura slowly opened her optics. Her vision was blurry at first, but when it cleared up, she noticed that she was in a different room. A room she has never been in before. "Well, well, look who's awake." said a voice. Aura looked around nervously to see Knockout leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "Uh oh." thought Aura. She tried to get up, but something was preventing to lift up her wrists. She looked down to see them tied in light blue holo wristraints. She struggled to break free but it was no good. "Stick around for awhile." said Knockout as he moved from the wall to the center of the room. "Like I have a choice?" asked Aura. Knockout chuckled at the response. "Funny one aren't you." he said. Just before Aura was about to respond, the door opened and Megatron entered the room. "Well, well, well, look who's here." said Megatron when he spotted Aura. "Megatron, why am I not surprised." replyed Aura. "As the new recruit awakened yet?" asked Megatron. "Not yet, my liege." answered Knockout. That's when she remembered why she was trapped on the warship. She was trying to get to Smokescreen first because he was the final Omega Key, somehow. She turned her head to the right to see Smokescreen laying down on another medbay next to her, also having wristraints on his wrists. "Well I'm glad he's alright, for the moment though." thought Aura. Then the three of them watched as Smokescren started coming to again. "He's waking up. Knockout, welcome him to the ship." ordered Megatron. "Of course my lord." replyed Knockout.
Knockout walked towards Smokescreen's medbay and stood next to it, watching Smokescreen waking up. "Wakey, wakey." taunted Knockout. "Ugh... Wait what?!" said Smokescreen in shock. He struggled to get out his wriststraints but they would budge. He looked back at Knockout with an angry expression. "If your looking for your phase shifter...." said Knockout as he showed him wearing the relic "Finders keepers." "Enough toying Knockout. Hand me the Iacon relic, now." commanded Megatron as he took afew steps forward toward Smokescreen. "Yeah, can help ya. That was the only one I was packing." replyed Smokescreen. But Aura could tell that Megatron thought otherwise. "Soundwave!" called out Megatron. Soundwave walked into the room with an image on his screen. It was the same red and blue dot decoding Aura saw back at the Autobot base. "They cracked it..." thought Aura. "Nice try, but you got the wrong guy. Optimus is the only one who can decode the database." said Smokescreen. "Ah, but you misunderstand. The final coordinates has been decoded, by us! And according to our finders, I do indeed, have the right guy." replyed Smokescreen. The decoding was complete and on Soundwave's screen showed Smokescreen's picture. Smokescreen had a surprised look on his face and turned to face Aura who had a sad/guilt look. "You, knew about this?" asked Smokescreen. "Yes, I did. I was following you so I could bring you back to base. But these Decepticreeps got to you first." explained Aura. "The question is, what is it that your still packing?" asked Knockout. He brought out a Cybertronian iPad scanner and began scanning Smokescreen. Once he reach his stomach, he found the Omega Key inside him. "Why, buried treasure of course!" said Knockout with a smirk. "Scrap." cursed Aura.
Knockout transferred the photo from his scanner to the medical bay computer so Megatron could see it. "Yet another of these identical relics?" said Megatron. He examined it, then turned to Knockout. "Remove it swiftly." ordered Megatron. "With pleasure." replyed Knockout as he transformed his hand into a buzz saw "I do so resent a paint job flashier than my own." Knockout turned to face Smokescreen and started moving his buzz saw toward Smokescreen's stomach. Smokescreen tried pull back and struggle but he couldn't move. Aura couldn't watch, so she closed her optics and turned her head and waited for it to be over. She didn't want to watch someone she cared about being tortured. Only it didn't happen. She heard the noise of the buzz saw stop. She opened her optics and looked back at the two mechs as Knoxkout transforms his saw back into a hand. "Ha, made you squirm." joked Knockout. Both Smokescreen and Aura had confused looks on their faces. Then, Knockout brought up his wrist and activated the phase shifter, mocking Smokescreen with it by phasing his other hand through his arm. "Trippy." commented Knockout. Then he stomped his foot on the floor. "And intuited. Proper grounding allows the user to not phase through the floor." explained Knockout. "I said swiftly!" ordered Megatron. Knockout nodded then phased his hand into Smokescreen's stomach and began searching for the key. "Get your stinking hand out of my gears!" said Smokescreen. "Leave him alone!" said Aura. "And, gotcha!" said Knockout. He slowly but carefully pulled the Omega Key out of Smokescreen, without making a mess, and held it in the air showing Megatron. Megatron looked at it, then faced Smokescreen. "Tell me the function of these relics." ordered Megatron. "Door stops? Shavers? Bling? Beats me." replyed Smokescreen. "Oh really? Well, we have ways of making you talk." said Megatron as he walked towards Aura's medic bed and aimed his Ion Cannon at her. "Whoa!" yelled Aura in shock as she had a scared expression on her face. "Tell me their function, or you'll never see Aura again!" threatened Megatron. Aura looked towards Smokescreen and shook her head meaning 'don't tell him anything'. "Hmm, a pity this little gadget won't let just reach in and pluck the info out of him." said Knockout. But, that gave Megatron an idea. He stopped charging his cannon and lowered his weapon. "But luckily, we posses a device that can." replyed Megatron. "The... Physic Patch." whispered Aura nervously.
Aura watched as Knockout hooked up Megatron and Smokescreen to the physic patch. On the computer screen it showed all of Smokescreen's memories. They stopped at the poi t where Optimus was explaining the use of the keys. And Megatron was inside with the 'imaginary' Autobots getting every, single, detail. "Scrap. The secrets out." thought Aura. "Whatever their function, this much is certain. We cannot restore Cybertron without all four Omega Keys in our possession." said the fake Optimus "The future of our home world depends on it." "Scrap." said Aura. Knockout walked back to Smokescreen and grabbed a hold of the physic patch hooked up to the back of Smokescreen's head. "That's a wrap." said Knockout as he pulled out the patch and woke up Smokescreen. "You alright?" asked Aura. "Yeah, I'm ok." replyed Smokescreen. Knockout walked over to Megatron and pulled out his patch and woke him up. Megatron got up from his medic bed and faced the Autobots. "The power to remake Cybertron, as I see fit." said Megatron "I will rip the other keys from Optimus Prime's hands! We must find the exact location of their base. Patch in and tear apart Smokescreen's mind if you must." "Me?" asked Knockout. "Who else?" replyed Megatron as he walked towards a table and picked up the Omega Key "Do you think that I would trust you, to see this key into the vault containing the other one?" Knockout looked at him with a blank expression. "Point taken i presume?" mocked Aura. "Shut it!" yelled Knockout. As Megatron walked to the exit he stopped as the doors opened. "And make that Aura is 'escorted' of the ship, perminately." ordered Megatron as he continued walking and the doors closed behind him.
"*sigh* Once more into the brain pan." said Knockout. "No! Not again! Stay out of my head!" screamed Smokescreen. "Leave him alone!" yelled Aura. "Ha, ha, ha, ha, now, now, you'll only make this worse for yourselves." said Knockout. As Knockout walked next to Smokescreen, Smokescreen grabbed the Phase Shifter on Knockout's wrist. "Worse? How?" mocked Smokescreen. Smokescreen phased through his wriststraints and he and Knockout went out in an all out tug of war for the relic. Phasing through different Objects and trying to push each other. "That's it Smokescreen! Keep it up!" cheered Aura. Knockout started pushing Smokescreen towards a wall, phasing through a couple wires, and they both began phasing through the wall, but Knockout stopped half way and most of his body got stuck litteraly inside the wall. "What the?" said Aura with a confused look on her face. Then she spotted Smokescreen phasing back inside the room, with the Phase Shifter attached to his wrist. "Alright Smokescreen!" cheered Aura. "I suggest we get the keys and get out of here?" suggested Smokescreen. "Agreed." answered Aura. Smokescreen ran to Aura's medic bed and took her hand, and phased her through her wriststraints. "Nice." said Aura. Hand in hand, they both ran and phased through the wall and enetered into a hallway. Aura turned to see Knockout's upper body, hands, and left knee sticking out of the wall. Aura couldn't help but laugh at the sight. "Hope you like hanging around, Knockout!" joked Aura. "Ugh! Aren't you the clever one!" said Knockout as he struggled to break free, but couldn't move. "This ship is miles in the sky and swarming with Decepticons! Do you two reall think you can escape?" mocked Knockout. "Who says we're looking to escape?" asked Smokescreen with a smirk. He took Aura's hand again, and they both turned a corner and proceeded down the hall, phasing through different walls.
They phased through one wall and turned to their right to see Megatron walking down the hall ahead of them, with the Omega Key in hand. "There he is." whispered Aura. They both spotted a door at the end of the hall, to where Megatron was headed. "That must be the vault containing the other Omega Key." whispered Smokescreen. "What do you suggest we do?" asked Aura. They both phased out of the wall and stood in the middle of the hall. "Follow my lead." whispered Smokescreen. He activated the shifter again then, took Aura's hand and they both ran towards Megatron. As they passed him, Smokescreen grabbed the key out of Megatron's hand. "Think fast!" said Smokescreen as he grabed the key, then he and Aura phased through the vault door. They landed back first inside the room. "What?!?" yelled Megatron from the other side of the door. "He's mad!" said Aura. "Quick! Grab the other key and let's get out of here!" replyed Smokescreen. Aura picked up the other Omega Key from the table with her other hand, and she and Smokescreen phased through one of the walls just as Megatron entered the vault.
The two Autobots proceeded running down a hallway with now both Omega Keys in their possession. They turned a corner and once they reached the middle of the hallway, three vehicons ran in, blocking the exit, and three other vehicons blocking the exit behind the Autobots. "Whatever you do, don't let to of my hand." whispered Smokescreen. Aura looked down at her hand holding Smokescreen's hand with the shifter, then looked up at his faceplate, and nodded. "What? This isn't the way out?" joked Smokescreen. Then the vehicons started firing at the Autobots. Aura screamed and wrapped her arms tightly around Smokescreen's arm and closed her optics. Only she didn't feel any of the blaster fire striking her at all. No pain what so ever. She opened her optics to see the energon blaster fire phasing through her and Smokescreen's bodies. Striking the vehicons instead. Once it was over, the vehicons just laid lifelessly on the ground with smoke coming out of them. "Missed us." said Smokescreen. "Let's get going before more show up." said Aura. Smokescreen agreed and they proceeded, phasing a wall next to them.
They were phasing through anything in their path to get to the top of the war ship. At one point they even phased through an Insecticon. But finally, they made it to the top of the warship and into the landing bay. "We made it!" cheered Aura. But then they heard footsteps and found Megatron, and 5-6 vehicons, with their blasters aimed and ready. "We almost made it." corrected Aura. "The keys if you please." commanded Megatron. Aura and Smokescreen both started backing away from them, but stopped when they reached near the edge of the ship, looking down at the sky and the ground. "That's a long way down." thought Aura. "A pity you two are in capable of flight." said Megatron. Aura looked at Smokescreen who kept looking back at Megatron, and down at the ground. "He's not thinking what I think he's thinking!" thought Aura as she tightened her grip on the Omega Key, she was holding. "Yeah, like we're gonna let that stop us!" stated Smokescreen as he grabed Aura and the two of them ran to the edge of the ship. "Wait! Smokescreen-Ahhhh!" yelled Aura she and Smokescreen jumped off the ship as the vehicons fired at them. Aura was falling faster than Smokescreen, and she accidentally lost her grip on her Omega Key. All she could do at that point, was scream for her life.
"Aura! Hang on!" yelled Smokescreen. He grabed Aura's Omega Key in his other hand, then attached the two keys to the back of his wings, and bent forward to go faster and catch up with her. Once he was close enough, he wrapped his hands around Aura's stomach and caught her. "Don't worry! I got ya!" said Smokescreen. "Are you crazy coming up with something like this?!?" yelled Aura as she quickly and thightly grabed Smokescreen's hands. "Maybe alittle." answered Smokescreen with a smirk "And what are talking about crazy? You've done this before haven't you?" "Yeah, with a PARACHUTE!?!" replyed Aura. Smokescreen chuckled alittle then activated his comlink. "Smokescreen to base. Me and Aura could really use a ground bridge!" said Smokescreen. Then Aura heard shooting noises and looked up see a few flying vehicons after them, and shooting at them. "Smokescreen!" warned Aura. Smokescreen followed Aura's gaze and spotted the vehicons. He ended the transmission with the Autobot base, tilted him and Aura forward to go faster. They turned left and right, avoiding the vehicon's blaster fire. Then, Smokescreen loosened his grip on Aura, and activated the Phase Shifter. "Do you trust me?" asked Smokescreen. "Yes, why?" asked Aura in reply. "This." said Smokescreen. He let go of Aura, formed a starfish position and started flying back towards the vehicon. "Smokescreen!" screamed Aura. Smokescreen phased through the vehicon, then transformed his hand into a blaster and destroyed the vehicon. It exploded in a ball of fire and smoke, and Smokescreen emerged from the smoke and caught Aura again. "Smokescreen! Aura! I'm opening a ground bridge directly below you two." said Ratchet through the comlink. "Yes! Finally!" cheered Aura. They watched as a ground bridge opened up a few feet away from them. Smokescreen turned off the phase shifter. "Brace yourselves. We're gonna make an entrance!" warned Smokescreen. Then they both heard the sound of a jet, and looked up to see Megatron speeding after them. "It's Megatron!" yelled Aura. "Aura! Go!" yelled Smokescreen. Smokescreen pushed Aura through the ground bridge right before Megatron pushed him out of the way.
"Ahhh!" screamed Aura as she flew and face planted through the ground bridge and into the Autobot base. "Aura!" yelled Optimus as he help her up. "Wait where's Smokescreen?" askedAura in worry as she watched the ground bridge close. "He's.. off course!" said Ratchet. "You missed?!?" asked Arcee. "Open another one! Quick!" stated Bulkhead. Aura watched as Ratchet typed in new coordinates as fast as he could. She looked at the computer to see Smoke'screen falling closer and closer to the ground. But just as Ratchet was about to pull the lever, Smokescreen's signal blip hit the ground, and turned red. "No!" said Ratchet. "Smokescreen!" yelled Arcee and Bulkhead in unison. "Ratchet?... is he..." asked Aura nervously holding back tears. Ratchet looked at her then put his head down. Aura knew the answer. "Smokescreen... I can't believe it.." whispered Aura. She buried her head in her hands and started crying alittle. Optimus hugged her, and Aura rested her head on his chest. "It should have been me..." said Aura. "Aura, don't blame yourself. Smokescreen's sacurifice won't be forgotten." replyed Optimus. A few seconds later, a beeping noise went off on the main computer and a comlink opened up. "Hey Ratchet? I could still really use that ground bridge." said Smokescreen. All the Autobots had shocked, happy, and relieved looks on their faces. "He's ok!" cheered Aura. "See? With destinies child around, you got nothing to worry about." said Bulkhead.
Ratchet activated a ground bridge and brought Smokescreen back to base. He sat him down on one of the white blocks and checked for any damage. Once he was done he backed away, and Smokescreen placed the two keys next to him. "Did I tell ya? Destiny! Alpha Trion knew I'd keep it safe!" said Smokescreen. At first Arcee seemed mad, but changed her facel expression and smiled and uncrossed her arms. "Nice work kid." complimented Arcee. "Smokescreen!" cheered Aura as she ran and hugged Smokescreen "Don't you dare scare me like that again!" "Relax! I apologize if I scared you, your highness." apologized Smokescreen with a smirk. Aura smirked back than whacked him in the back of the head. "Hey! It's true!" stated Smokescreen. "I know, just, give me some time to get used to it." replyed Aura. Their conversation was interrupted by Bumblebee. "Beep bop bop beep bop beep bop 'We have one, Smokescreen got two. How's that possible?'" asked Bumblebee. "It was the only key in Megatron's vault." answered Smokescreen. Optimus picked up the keys and looked at them. "Then three keys are acounted for." said Optimus. "But where could the fourth key be? All the coordinates have been decoded already." added Aura. "The fourth must be somewhere still on the 'Cons warship." suggested Bulkhead. "Unless, Megatron never had it to begin with?" asked Arcee. "Then if Megatron doesn't have it, then who?" asked Aura in reply. Then the computer went off, and a message popped up on the screen. "A high frequency signal! With an imbetted message...." said Ratchet. "Starscream." said Bulkhead as he narrowed his optics. "I have obtained something of interest to you that's no interest to me." said Ratchet as he read the message. "It's gotta be the Omega Key!" stated Bulkhead. "He's the one who blind sided me and Aura!" said Smokescreen. "What else could he be referring to?" asked Arcee. "Ah ah ah! There's more. Bring medical kit, I only ask for the restoration of my T-Cog in return." explained Ratchet as he finnished reading Starscream's message. "Pfft ha! Like we're gonna give 'Scream back his wings!" said Bulkhead while laughing. "But without the final key, Cybertron will remain devoyed of life." pointed out Ratchet. "I agree with Ratchet. We need that Omega Key!" agreed Aura. "Broken record I know, it could be a trick." added Arcee. "It is possible that Starscream does not realize the significance of what he holds." said Optimus. "And we do know the Starscream has been grounded for some time now." replyed Ratchet. "The stakes are too great for us to not consider Starscream's proposal. However, we will take precautions." explained Optimus.
Optimus, Bulkhead, Ratchet, and Aura left for Starscream's coordinates while Arcee, Bumblebee, and Smokescreen stayed behind at base to keep watch. The four Autobots arrived at a forest, late at night. Aura, Optimus, and Bulkhead had their blasters out, guarding Ratchet. They came across Starscream laying against a tree, looking down at the ground."There!" said Bulkhead as he pointed to him. "Is he sleeping?" thought Aura. "Starscream, show us the Omega Key." ordered Optimus. But Starscream just sat there, with his head down. "Hello? Earth to Starscream!" said Aura. The four Aurobots looked at each other then proceeded closer to Starscream. "Give it up 'Scream!" said Bulkhead. But still no answer. Bulkhead tapped his gun against Statscream's head, and Starscream just fell over lifelessly. "What the?" said Aura in confusion. "Huh?" said Bulkhead. "We're too late." said Ratchet as he knelt next to Starscream and brought out his scanner. "So Starscream, is dead?" asked Aura. "At this rate, a T-Cog won't help him now." answered Ratchet. As Ratchet was scanning Starscream, Aura felt a quick rush of wind that flew by next to her. The same wind she felt before she and Smokescreen got blind sighted. She turned around towards the ground bridge and saw nothing. "That was weird." thought Aura as she turned her attention back to the boys.
Ratchet's scanner started beeping and he checked its results. "Curious." said Ratchet. "What's up?" asked Aura. "Starscream has been dead for quite some time." explained Ratchet. "But how is that possible if he just sent us a message?" asked Bulkhead. "Unless..." whispered Aura. "We have been deceived." stated Optimus. "Decieved by a Decepticon. Who'd of thought?" said Aura. "Arcee! Close the ground bridge now!" ordered Optimus through the com-link. Aura aimed her blaster at the ground bridge, waiting for Starscream to come out. As she watched, she saw a greyish white blur come out of the ground bridge. "Autobots maintain positions!" ordered Optimus. Aura watched as the blur walked past time, and what appeared to be talking to them, but once the blurr reached behind them, it started clearing up and the Autobots heard it's final sentance. "But you know what you really are? SLOW!" said the blur as it appeared to be, Starscream. All the Autobots turned around and aimed their blasters at Starscream who was holding all three of their Omega Keys. "The red energon wore off didn't it?" asked Starscream. "He has the Omega Keys!" said Ratchet. "Get him!" yelled Aura. "Ah!" screamed Starscream as he launched a missle at the Autobots. The Autobots dodge it, and as the smoke cleared they spotted him running away. "He's getting away!" yelled Aura. The four of them got up and ran after Starscream while shotting at him. Starscream opened up his own ground bridge and jumped through it. It closed just as the Autobots were closing in on him. They stoped running and transformed their weapons back into hands, and Optimus yelled in frustration. "Whoa!" thought Aura as she and the other two looked at each other, then looked back at Optimus. "We'll get'em back." said Bulkhead. "The keys can be no use to Starscream while he squanders around like a scraplet!" said Ratchet. "There's gotta be something we can offer him in exchange!" added Aura. "The fait of Cybertron now rests in Starscream's hands." said Optimus as he turned and faced the others "Whatever his intention."
