'Armaan, wake up,' someone whispered softly.

Armaan fiddle around a bit and changed his position, 'go away Siya, you are just a dream.' He pushed away the hand he felt on his shoulder.

'No I am not,' that same voice giggled, 'I have got you coffee.'

'Mmmhhh,' Armaan yawned and sat up. He slowly stretched his arms and opened his eyes only to find Siya standing in front of him, 'oh.. Umm.. I...' He lost his words when he realised what he had mumbled a minute ago.

'Coffee,' Siya offered him a cup and decided to not to make things more awkward.

'How is she doing?' She whispered to Armaan, who was now leaning against the wall.

'Sleeping,' Armaan sighed, 'since yesterday.'

'And did the doctors tell you how her surgeries went?'

'Nope, they will be coming around 11:30 today. At least that's what the nurse told me.'

This time Siya was the one who sighed, 'well I have to catch a bus in 10 minutes for school so I'll have to leave. Bye and have a good day!' She smiled and dumped her plastic cup in the rubbish bin.

'Where is your car? I am pretty sure it got delivered yesterday?' Armaan narrowed his eyes.

'Sameer won't me the keys and I can't fight for them cuz then dad will know about that trip and I will be grounded! At least I had a driver facility before but no! He wouldn't drop me off and he wouldn't let me call for a cab so for the first time in my entire life I am stuck with the bus service. Imagine me in a bus? Seriously, It's so not fair!' Siya paused and inhaled a deep breath while Armaan just stared at her face in a surprise.

'See! I look like an idiot again,' feeling embarrassed, Siya turned around, 'I think I need to leave.' She said and marched down the corridor. She could feel his stare on her back so she couldn't wait to get out of there.

Just when Siya reached the main gate, she heard someone call her name. When she turned around, she saw Armaan running after her.

'How about an unpaid driver?' He questioned and pulled out his car keys.

'As long as Sameer doesn't know about it,' Siya smiled and followed Armaan to the car park.

Like a true gentleman, Armaan opened the front door for Siya and she took a seat, ready for a good long 30 minutes ride.

•••

'Here you are,' Armaan informed, 'just in time,' he looked at Siya and smiled.

'Thank you so much for the ride!' Siya smiled back and got out of the car.

Siya smiled to herself as she walked towards the main entrance of her school. This car ride wasn't as awkward as the other one. In fact, she got to learn new things about Armaan. For instance, he absolutely hated seafood and could survive on pasta for months. His favorite colour was blue and he couldn't stand mustard as a sauce or even as a colour. He was currently helping out to raise funds for schools in Christchurch and would be starting university in 6 months' time as a first year student of Business Management because he opted out of engineering in his second year.

Siya was brought back to the reality when Armaan called out her name, 'hey! How do I keep you updated?'

'Updated about what?' Siya questioned back as she turned around.

Armaan stood barely a foot away from her. When she accidentally touched his arm, a chill went down her spine and she could feel a hot sensation taking over her cheeks.

'Rhidhima,' Armaan answered casually.

'Wait, is he asking for my number?' Siya asked herself, 'you use my friend as an excuse to get my number? What a lame guy move?!' She laughed inside her head.

'Well in that case, Kaira has my number,' Siya slightly rolled her eyes and acted all cool, 'Unless you ask for it in a better way,' she added a wink in the end.

Siya remembered Rhidhima telling her that Armaan was one of the stupidest guys when it came to girls. She found it cute and knew that he had put in so much effort asking for it, and that too if he was actually asking for her number. She started to regret her 'cool act' barely after two seconds. What if he doesn't ask for it again?

Oh well, what's done is done, she thought.

Armaan opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by a police officer.

'Miss Siya Raichand?' The officer questioned.

'Thats me, officer,' Siya turned towards him.

'Hi, I am officer Travis,' Travis shook hands with Siya, 'you need to come to the police station with me,' he informed her.

'What is it about?' Siya questioned.

'Nothing to worry about,' Travis assured, 'just a few questions about your friend's case.'

'But that was an accident, right?' This time Armaan questioned Travis.

Travis inhaled a deep breath and said, 'I am afraid it wasn't,' he turned to Siya, 'Come with me and you will find out.'

'Okey, so I'll call my dad first. I need my lawyer to be there. That's the law, right?' Siya pulled out her phone and started to dial Mr Raichand's number but Travis stopped her.

'You are not a suspect, Siya,' he said, 'all I need are a few answers about that car.'

'Fine,' Armaan stood between Travis and Siya, 'since you don't have a female officer with you and this is a school, we will follow you in our car,' he said while putting more pressure on 'our.'

'Whatever it takes,' Travis said and went back to his car.

•••

Dark grey walls, tinted glass, a single light bulb, table and three chairs. Siya was already feeling like a culprit. The setting of this room was scary and gloomy. Although, she couldn't see anything through the glass on the window, she knew that there were people watching her from the other side and possibly there was a camera recording everything she was doing and saying. She desperately wished her lawyer or at least her dad was here. He could have handled the cops easily and she wouldn't have to go through all this. Even though they didn't get angry or scream at her, the looks on their faces were enough to scare the hell out of her.

When The officers started questioning Siya, she learnt that someone had sent an anonymous letter claiming that it was an attempt to murder and not an accident. When police started investigating, the witnesses informed the officers that there were no number plates on the car which had hit Rhidhima 2 days ago. When Siya was asked about that car, she knew nothing because she never got to see that car. When she had turned around, the car had already raced past them.

She was next questioned if there was anyone she was suspecting, but she couldn't think of anyone as Rhidhima was a very nice person. She would leave no stones unturned when it came to keeping everyone happy. Though she was no less than Kaira when it came to having fun and playing pranks but she was way softer at heart.

'So you have nothing that can help us?' Officer Jenna brought Siya back to reality.

'What makes you thinks it was planned? It's possible that the car was stolen and that's why it didn't have a number plate?' Siya answered her question with a question, 'I mean, it's almost impossible to hate Rhidhima to an extent that anyone would want to kill her!'

'Possible,' Jenna took a seat next to Siya, 'but another way we can look at this is that it was initially for someone else and Rhidhima just turned up at the wrong time.'

'Maybe,' Siya mumbled doubtfully.

'Are you sure you have nothing that could help us?' Travis questioned but Siya just shook her head.

'You can go now,' Jenna got up and shook hands with her, 'and make sure to not say anything to anyone.'

Siya nodded this time, 'I will drop by if I notice something fishy,' Siya assured them and left the interrogation room.

Completely exhausted, she greeted the wind outside the police station and found Armaan sitting on his car's bonnet.

When Armaan's eyes spotted Siya, he felt relieved. He jumped off the bonnet as quickly as possible and brushed off the dust from his jeans.

'Hey,' he said quietly, 'you fine?'

'Apparently I have elephants jumping around in my stomach,' she complained.

Armaan smiled and said, 'name the place and my GPS will take us there.'

'I am good with Carls Jr.,' she said and walked across the road while Armaan followed.

Siya ate like a pig and Armaan just watched her. He could figure out that Siya was stressed but he didn't bother asking because by now Siya knew him enough to share her problems with him. Especially when It was about his own cousin.

Siya nearly dozed off on their way back. As much as she would have loved to talk to Armaan on this short journey, she couldn't wait to get home and sleep.

'We are home,' Armaan announced as he parked the car next to his house. As Siya bid him good night and crossed the the road, he kept an eye on both sides of the road.

'Armaan, ask her for her number you looser,' he whispered to himself but he couldn't decide what to say to her. He turned around in disappointment, 'damn you Armaan,' he cursed himself just when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

It was Siya, 'I can't miss school tomorrow so you mind keeping me posted about Rhidhima?' She asked and slipped a note in Armaan's hand.

Siya jogged back to her house with a huge smile pasted on her face. She was not tired anymore. All her worries were gone when she deleted the police station part from her memory and relived the quality time she had spent with Armaan.

Later that night, she was getting ready for bed when her phone buzzed. It was an unknown number but she had already guessed that it was Armaan. Butterflies danced in her stomach when she opened the text message...

'Wondering if I am only supposed to be texting you about Rhidhima? -Armaan'

Siya figured out what exactly Armaan was saying. She blushed and typed ..
No, keep me posted about Kaira as well :P And your uncle and aunt. I will really appreciate that ;P

Armaan: Yeah I guessed .. No one wants to know how I am doing :(

Siya: exactly!!! :P

Armaan: Fine!

Siya: just kidding! :)

Siya giggled and kept her phone aside. She went back to the washroom to wipe the make up off her face. Her phone buzzed again but this time it wasn't Armaan........
