CHAPTER 03
'There is no name tag or card!' Siya announced, still looking around.
It was 3am in the morning and these girls were busy opening Siya's birthday presents. She had received all sorts of presents. Handmade cards made by her cousin Mason, Shanon gifted her black handbag from the latest Kardarshian collection, there were watches, ipod from her uncle Andrew, a churidar salwar kameez from her tai ji's family, chocolates, gift cards and many more.
Now there were only two gifts left and both of them had no name on them. It was obvious that the wrapping was done by the same person as the gift wraps and style of wrapping was the same. 'So clean and perfect,' Siya had whispered to herself, 'I want to be able to send a thank you text to this person also, but how?'
'Oh just pull those pieces of tape off that paper,' Kaira was getting really impatient now. She was counting on that teddy bear inside the wrapping to be pink. This way she would win the bet and then Siya will have to join the girls on a Friday night out. Of course taking permission from Siya's dad was another obstacle for the girls but Kaira knew the trick. She never told anyone though, but she would always do some kind 'magic' and get away with whatever she wanted.
'I am counting on you Mr. Teddy,' Rhidhima glued her eyes to the gift. While Kaira wanted the teddy to be pink, Ridhima was praying for a White one. She did not really like the idea of three girls hitting a pub on a Friday night and that too in the 'Kaira way'. It was nothing but stupid. Ridhima could seriously spend 2 hours watching a movie and having lunch with friends on the last Sunday of her holidays.
'Brown,' Siya whispered. If the teddy bear turns out to be brown, Siya wouldn't have to go anywhere so she wouldn't have to lie to her father too. No matter how suffocating his rules were, Siya would never cheat on him or let him down. Call it fear or respect, Siya always obeyed his rules and she was proud of it.
Lately, Kaira and Rhidhima have been forcing Siya into many things. First it was sneaking out at 1am for drive around the town, then skipping classes and now when she was eighteen, she was being dragged to a pub.
Mr. Raichand, on the other hand, did notice the change in Siya and was very disappointed with her. Annalise, Siya's mother, tried telling him that it was all because of his unnecessary rules and regulations. However he ignored every word. 'Find yourself a good company!' He had said to Siya while she just stood there quietly looking at the ground.
No matter how much trouble her friends got her into, she still loved them. They were her only source of comfort. She could trust them, share her secrets, be crazy around them and most importantly; she could just be herself.
