Mabel's POV

Since my mom found out that I was pregnant, she told my dad and siblings. To say the least, they were all disappointed. Louis laughed like a maniac, at least he isn't dead. Yesterday we found him on the floor of his room bleeding from his head but thanks to the family doctor, his head was stitched and was put on bed rest at home. Why isn't the idiot in his room now sef?

The day before, I was on my way to get bread from the junction since Louis yelled at everyone on the dining table that he didn't want sliced bread (He's really a pain in the ass)Then I saw Katie's back view. She looked like she just got into a fight with a bear and the bear won. Her clothes were tattered, her hair was looking unkempt and her her body full of dust and open bruises.

"Oh my God!", I exclaimed in fright and shock

"Mr. John, that's Katie. Please stop the car", I almost yelled at him.

"No o. That no fit be Katie jor.  Even all dem police people talk say she don die. Abi you wan dey talk ghost?", Mr. John, the driver yelled in fright(No. That can't be Katie. Even the police officers confirmed that she has died or do you want to talk to a ghost?)

"No. That's Katie. Please stop the car or better still follow her.  Please, I'm begging you.  She looks sick", I pleaded with tears in my eyes.

"Okay. But if Oga complain say we come home late na you go talk o. You too know your papa he go wan fire me and me i no get money o and na 3 wives and 16 children I have abegg o"( Okay but if my boss(your dad) should complain that we are late, you would have to defend me. You know your dad he might want to fire me and I don't have any money.  I have 3 wives and 16 children. Please)

"No problem", I replied in a hurry as he stopped the car right behind Katie.

"Katieeeeeeeee!", I yelled from the car and she started to run but ordinarily looking at her, you could see that was was weak and tired. And not less that 10 seconds later, she fainted. I never knew I could run that fast as I dashed towards her direction and tried lifting her up and she was extremely light. A gasp escaped my lips unknowingly. I gently moved towards the car while tears rushed furiously down my cheeks.

"Mr. John, please let's get her to a nearby hospital. She is dying", I begged and I saw pity on his face but his reply was a total turn off.

"My Oga dey house nau (My boss is at home)", he replied.

"Then if you can't, I would drive her", I said as I angrily stomped to the driver's door and pushed him out and hopped in then started the engine and drove off as I heard Mr. John scream and I watched his expression through the rear mirror.

I stopped at the closest hospital and then signalled to the nurses to get Katie out of the black SUV.

I picked my phone out of the pocket of my gown and called my parents to let them know what happend. 

"Mom, we found Katie ", I yelled in excitement. "Is that why you had to push Mr. John out of the car and now he is hospitalised because a car crushed his leg. Are you happy Mabel Omolewa Flowers, huhn?", My mom yelled in anger and I angrily switched off my phone.

Fifteen minutes later, I was left with the shock of my life.
