Year 1 Chapter 1 - There's a long life ahead of me

I'm not just any girl. I know, a lot of people say that, but for most of them, that's not true. For me, it is. One, my great - grandfather is Newt Scamander. He was one of Dumbledore's greatest allies. Two, I am an Animagus. And three, I can talk to owls. For a witch, you would think that is very unusual. That's because it is. And I know that, but the fact that I haven't even told my parents yet, is surprising! You must know how hard it is to keep a secret. And for 11 long years, I've kept that secret to myself and wanted to keep it to myself! You know my father is Lorcan Scamander while my mother, I never knew her. I think she died giving birth to me, but who knows! She might still be alive and waiting for me. Anyway, I haven't introduced myself. My name is Leah Wings Scamander. My dad said that before I was born, my mom said she wanted my middle name to be Wings. So here's me: I have long dirty blond hair, dark blue eyes, and pale skin. And I've always liked cats. I have three cats at home and I also have an owl. My owl's name is Snowy. She's the brightest white there is in the wizard world. My cats' names are Ginger, Graceful, and Don. Ginger is a bright orange cat that is always awake when I'm home. Graceful is a lazy gray cat, but when she walks around, she walks like a movie star. Don is my favorite though. She's a black kitten that always sleeps with me. I wanted to bring Don with me at my first year of Hogwarts, but my dad said she was to little and might loss her. So, yes. I am going to Hogwarts and now I'm starting my story the summer when I got my letter from the mail.

"Of course I knew I was getting it some time!" I said as a letter flew into my house. "Catch it dad!" I said as he started to stand up. Once dad caught the the letter, he helped me open it and I read it to myself. "Dad! Dad! I'm going to Hogwarts!" I said excitedly.

"Good job sweets!" He said giving me a hug. My dad always calls me sweets when he's proud of me. "Let's go to Diagon Alley shall we?" he asked picking up his broom.

"Yes please!" I said grabbing my broom too. My dad put a spell on us so no muggles couldn't see us, then we flew into the sky until we reached Diagon Alley. I was so excited. I even brought Snowy with me. She needs a walk everyday and I thought this would be a great time to let her rome free for a little bit. We went to the wand shop first. I got a birch wand with a unicorn horn core. It was amazing that it chose me. Then we went to get all of my books. It took me and my dad about an hour to get everything.

"What's taking you so long?" asked Snowy when my dad wasn't around.

"You're asking me?" I whispered back. "Just look at the list! I need to get three more books at the least!"

"But you've already gotten like five!" said Snowy. By now everyone was looking at us because to them, Snowy was a loud chirping bird that wouldn't stop.

"Shut up!" I whispered to her. I smiled at the others in the shop as they stopped looking at us. "Dumb bird." I mumbled when we were out of the shop.

"I heard that Leah!" said Snowy giving me a death stare. Later, we met up with my dad and went home. That evening, I started reading my spell book. By the morning, I learned Expeliamous and Wingardium Leviosa. I made Don float in the air, which so loved! I was so excited to go to Hogwarts! It was starting next week!

Year 1 Chapter 2 - The Hogwarts Express

A week later we are now on platform 9¾. I was so excited to go on the train for the first time. The Hogwarts Express is what everyone called it. When Snowy and I got on the train, we looked for an empty compartment so we can talk. After I put my stuff away, Snowy and I sat down and started talking.

"What house do you think I'll be in?" I asked Snowy as the train started moving.

"I don't know. Maybe Hufflepuff because of your dad!" Snowy answered.

"Maybe. I kind of think it's Ravenclaw."

"How so? I think your a better fit for Hufflepuff."

"I don't know Snowy. It's just gut feeling I guess."

"Leah, what are you talking about?"

"I..." there was a pause before I said anything else.

"You what?" Snowy asked with a concerned tone.

"I don't know ok! I just don't know." I felt a tear coming from my eye as I thought of mother. Snowy came over to comfort me. She knew what I was thinking. She always did. That's why I love her the most. Snowy understands me as I understand her. She gets me better than anyone I know.

Thanks to Snowy, I was able to cry myself to sleep, and by the time I woke up, we were halfway to Hogwarts. In front of me were two new kids wearing their robes.

"Leah you up?" asked Snowy looking at me in the eye.

"Yes. I am now." I whispered making sure the other kids in the compartment didn't hear me.

"Hello!" one of the kids said to me. "I'm Aryana Sallmone. Ary for short."

"And I'm Colt Sallmone." said the other kid. "As you might know how we're siblings."

"Hello, Ary and Clot! Nice to meet you. I'm Leah Scamander." I said trying to sound confident. "Oh and this is my owl Snowy."

"Very well said," Snowy asked rolling her eyes.

"Shut up," I whispered to Snowy as she kind of laughed. Ary and Clot were now looking at me with surprised faces.

"Wait!" said Ary. "One, did you say your last name is Scamander? As in Newt Scamander!?"

"Um...yes?" I answered.

"Ok! And two, did you just tell your bird to shut up, or something?" said Colt. I didn't know what to say because I've never told anyone before.

I looked at Snowy when she looked at me and said "You should tell them! I think they can keep a secret."

"Um..." I said to Snowy. Then I sighed and faced Ary and Colt. "Yes, yes I did. I can speak owls' language. I not that good yet, but I'm doing my best at understanding."

"Wow really!" Ary and Colt said at the same time.

"Yeah," I said to them giggling a little bit. "But please, don't tell anyone."

"Yes. Please don't!" said Snowy huddling to me.

"What did Snowy say?" Clot asked looking at Snowy.

"She said 'Yes. Please don't tell' she wants to keep this secret as much as I do."

"Ok!" Ary and Colt said at the same time again. We talked and talked on the train ride. I also taught them a little bit of Snowy's language. It was so fun on the Hogwarts Express. I can't believe that I've already made friends, and I haven't even gotten to Hogwarts yet. I'm hoping this will be an amazing year at Hogwarts!

Year 1 Chapter 3 - Ravenclaw

About an hour later, the train finally stopped. Ary, Colt, and I got our stuff and got off the train. We stuck together in line until our names were called. Ary was called before Colt and me. She got sorted into Hufflepuff. When Colt was called though, he was sorted into Gryffindor, which Ary was very sad about. Next was my turn. I went up to Professor McGonagall, but before she could put the sorting hat on me, Professor Dumbledore came up to me.

"Help miss Scamander. I must see you in my office after dinner," he said with a kind look. I said ok, and he walked off to let me be sorted by the sorting hat.

"Hmm..." said the sorting hat once on my head. "Kind and caring like your father..." then it paused for a moment. "Very wise and witty like your mother." I felt a tear coming down my cheek as I mentioned my mother.

"I have never met her.," I whispered.

"Then it shall be... RAVENCLAW!" it said finally. I jumped up and ran to join the other Ravenclaw members. Even Snowy flew over to me.

"Like your Mother I guess," said Snowy landing on my shoulder. Then she noticed I was crying and said "Don't worry! Your mother would have been so proud of you!"

"Thanks, Snowy," I whispered as I sat down in an empty seat.

Year 1 Chapter 4 - My Mother and Father

After dinner, Snowy and I left to go see Professor Dumbledore. With Snowy perched on my shoulder, we talked and talked until we reached the professor's office.

"You ready?" Snowy asked before we walked up the staircase.

"Yes, you?" I answered taking a step on the stairs. Then the whole thing started to shake. Snowy was so surprised that she jumped on my head. The stairs were turning and going up at the same time. Once it stopped, I turned around to see a room with Dumbledore and a Phoenix.

"Hello, miss Scamander," said I voice. A second later Dumbledore appeared in front of me and said "Hello Snowy!"
"How do you know Snowy?" I asked a little confused.

"Well....I've been watching over you ever since you were born. You know my old friend Newt right?" Dumbledore was in a chair with his hands together.

"Of course Professor! He was my great - grandfather. I loved him so."

"You've met him?"

"Well not in person. My father told me that he died a few days after he was born. Sometimes I would have dreams where I would see him, and we would talk for ages. That's how I knew him."

"Oh.." the professor said with a confused look. "Tell me, what do you know about him?"

"Well, he had blue eyes and hair like mine. His voice was deep but kind. He told me he had a child after marrying someone named Tina Goldstein. And that child then had my grandpa Rolf Scamander. Then Rolf married my grandma who is Luna Lovegood, who had my father, Lorcan and my uncle, Lysander. I've never met anyone that I mentioned, except for my father and Newt."

"What about your mother?"

"Well..." then I paused for a moment trying not to cry. "I've never met her either. My dad would never tell me anything about my family's past." Dumbledore was silent for a second and stood up.

"You may leave now...thank you miss Scamander."

"Um...thank you?" I said heading for the stairs.

Back at the Ravenclaw common room, it was almost 11:30 and I couldn't fall asleep. Neither could Snowy, so we talked as quietly as possible.

"Leah what do you want to do now?" asked Snowy with a quiet chirp.

"I'm not really sure," I whispered back.

"Um, there's a little thing called being an Animagus here!"

"Oh yay! That's a good idea." I said as i grabbed a black cloak. I put it on and whispered "Let's go Snowy. And be quiet." Then Snowy huddled into the cloak and we set off into the night. We were probably in the halls for five minutes until I decided to change into my Animagus form. Only Snowy knew I had one. My Animagus form is an owl. I never wanted to be one, but you never get to choose your form. I don't know why I'm an owl, but that's just how it is. I was now in my Animagus form with Snowy and we flew around being as quiet as possible. For a while, we raced, played, and quietly talked as we flew around the school. It's such an amazing feeling to fly.

"Come on Snowy, we need to go back to the Ravenclaw common room," I said as quietly as I could in my Animagus form.

"Ok, let's go!" said Snowy leading the way back.

Year 1 Chapter 5 - Keen Secro

The next morning, I quickly took a bath and put on my robes. By the time I was finished getting ready, it was almost time for breakfast. I was thinking it was time to meet some people in Ravenclaw. At breakfast sat next to a boy named Leo Promantous, which was funny because my name is Leah! He has short blond hair and hazel eyes. We both talked and talked, and we became friends. We walked to class together after breakfast. Our first class was Defense Against the Dark Arts class. I was really happy that Ary and Clot were in the class with me and Leo. At lunch we were able to sit anywhere we wanted, so Ary and Colt came over to me and Leo at the Ravenclaw table. Snowy was there too, but she had a letter with a box that said my name. I read the note and it said not to open it till my birthday, which was next week, on September 14th. I was guessing it was from dad, but there wasn't a name on it. As I put a box aside, a Slytherin boy, came up behind me.

"Hello there," he said. I turned around to see a boy with brown hair and green eyes.

"Are you talking to me?" I asked in my sweetest voice.

"Of course beautiful!"

I almost threw up when he said that, but responded with a nice "you're cute too." And of course, I wasn't meaning it. I was just trying to be nice.

"Seriously! This guy!?" said Snowy loud enough that I could hear.

"No! I was just trying to be nice!" I whispered back. Before I could say anything else, Colt came in front of me with his wand out.

"You stay away from her!" He said. But the other boy already had his wand out and was about to cast a spell.

So I took out my wand and said "Expelliarmus!" As soon as I said that, the boy's wand came to my other hand when he dropped it. "Leave him alone Colt," I said. Then Colt put his wand away.

"How did you learn Expelliarmus? We're not supposed to be learning it till the middle of the year!"

"What's your name?" I asked not answering his question.

"The name's Keen, now give me my wand back!"

"Fine," I said as I tossed the wand to Keen. Then I walked up to him before he left, and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. His face went red and he ran off to the Slytherin table.

"Did you seriously just kiss him!?" Said Snowy.

"What did Snowy say?" Asked Ary and Colt at the same time.

"Wait, you can speak owl?" Leo was now listening to.

"Yeah, but I'm not telling what she said!" I was now furious at them.

"Come on Leah!" Said Snowy "just tell them once! Please!"

"At least Snowy said please!" said Ary understanding the, please.

"NO!" I said banging my head on the table.

"Come on Leah!" said Colt.

"No! That's enough! I'm going to the library! See you in class Leo!" I said. then, I picked up my box and my letter, and I walked to the library with Snowy following.

"Why did you do that!?" she asked me in the library.

"Because I can Snowy!"

"Oh look there's Keen!"

"What!?" I looked all around making sure he wasn't there. That's when Snowy started laughing. "Dumb bird!" I whispered. Then I turned around to see Keen right in front of me. Even Snowy was shocked that he was there.

"Hello there beautiful!" he said looking to my eyes. "I never got your name."

"Leah," I said looking back at him. "Leah Scamander." He looked as surprised as ever.

"T-that's nice my full name is Keen Secro." I heard the nervous tone in his voice. Then the bell rang, meaning only 5 mins till next class.

"Are you going to kiss him again?" said Snowy with a little chuckle.

"Oh, shut up Snowy," I said to my owl, completely forgetting that Keen was still here.

"Who are you talking to?" he asked looking confused.

"Non-yeah!" I said as Snowy came to my shoulders. "Don't be late for class," I said running out of the library to my next class. I was going to charms class with Professor Flitwick. I walked in and took a seat next to Leo. then, a few minutes later, Keen walked in, looked around, and sat next to ME!
