Chapter 20
<Stiles' POV>
"What are you talking about?" Scott asks over the phone. It's obvious that he has been crying. He is always sniffing and his voice keeps cracking. But his voice isn't the only thing cracking. A storm has begun to swirl outside and rain is shattering on the roofs and lighting is illuminating the sky.
"Scott I know it doesn't seem practical, but trust me we can bring her back and we should do it soon, like before we go after the nogitsune," I explain quickly. Scott stays silent for a moment.
"What if we wait to long and by the time we save her, we lose you... I lose you?" Scott asks. I sigh out a little to loud.
"Think about it, how many people have I hurt, Scott I almost killed Lydia, the one girl I've ever loved, I killed Allison, I stabbed you, just think about it, if I die it doesn't matter," I say annoyed. Footsteps form behind me and I turn around as I stand next to Allison's desk and see Lydia in the doorway. Her fists are clenched along with her jaw.
"Put it on speaker Stiles," she demand. I listen and then Lydia begins to talk to both Scott and I. "Listen, If we can get Allison back I think we should, but what's the point of getting her back if she has to wake up without a friend."
"But I got her kil-" I start. Lydia cuts me off angrily.
"Cut it out, Scott and I both know it wasn't your fault so stop, we have to focus on time, we get Allison's body, Deaton, Isaac, and an ice bath, then we prepare for yet another fight, with Allison and we save you Stiles," Lydia explains in a demanding voice. I look at her in awe. Scott scoffs over the phone.
"I'm all for it, lets get going," Scott says. I grab Lydia's hand and pull her back to where Chris and Derek are sitting. I release her hand and walk to Derek. He stands so he is my height.
"So what's the plan?" He asks. I blow out a breath in the astonishment of everything.
"I just need you to go and get Isaac... can I trust you?" I ask slightly worried. Derek smiles slightly at me.
"You can always trust me," he says before walking out the apartment door. That's the thing about Derek. People don't trust him long enough to know that he is actually a good person. The way we can all trust each other makes me along with everyone else have a sense of security. And with everything we go through, trust and security is important.
"Lydia, did you call Deaton?"
"He's on his way," she says. Mr. Argent stands up.
"What do I do?" I explain to him the ice bath thing with the herbs to put in the water. Then Lydia tells him we can bring out her body now. "Just one problem, I don't have that much ice," Chris reminds us. Lydia swings her car keys around her finger. They clatter together like little bells.
"I'll go pick some up, Stiles come on," Lydia demands. I follow without question into the pouring rain. On the way out of the apartment building we pass Scott who's long hair is falling over his forehead, soaked.
"Hey buddy Derek is getting Isaac, Deaton is on his way, Mr. Argent is getting the tub ready, and we're going to get ice," I explain quickly. Scott nods and then runs into the building. Lydia is already in the car by the time Scott reaches the doors. I walk over to the passenger side of the car and open the door. As I begin to sit in the seat my whole body has a rush of pain run through it. My face contorts and I make kind of a groan noise.
"Stiles what's wrong?" Lydia asks in her usual soft voice. I shake my head.
"It's nothing, I'm fine, lets just go," I say quickly. Lydia doesn't believe me, but she starts the car anyways and drives off.
"Stiles, I have it." I look at her confused. Her jaw is clenched and her knuckles are white. Even though her eyes are locked on the road, navigating through the storm I can tell all she wants to do is close her eyes shut tight to concentrate.
"Have what?" I finally ask. She cringes like a loud sound boomed.
"I have that feeling that I get when someone is about to die and it gets worse... every time I come close to you," Lydia says, trailing of at the end. My eyes become fixed on the road as well. The rain makes it almost impossible to see out the window. Thunder is constantly booming along with the frequent flashes of lighting.
"If I die it's fine," I say calmly. I don't think she meant to, but Lydia's hands come off the steering wheel and she turns to me.
"NO STILES IT IS NOT FINE!" She yells. I barely see it but I catch a slight glimpse of it. A sleek black car with gleaming headlights coming through an intersection. The car is more of a truck actually, and much bigger than Lydia's car. I barely finish my sentence.
"LYDIA WATCH THE ROAD!" I scream. My instincts to protect the ones I love kicks in and I turn the steering wheel right vigorously. Lydia's head flies into the wheel and my head hits the window. When I turned the car we managed to escape the true blow of the accident for the truck hit the back of Lydia's car instead of the front where we are sitting. I find my body weaker than ever and I try desperately to catch my breath. Neither of us speak for the first few seconds as we take it all in.
"Stiles... are you alive?" Lydia asks with her eyes squished shut. She refuses to open them.
"Ye-yes, ar-are you okay-y?" I ask still trying to level my breathing. She nods her head and then cringes. I see her eyebrow is bleeding and dripping into her eyes. My temple is sore, but I don't see blood. I rip off the bottom of my shirt and press it against her bleeding eyebrow. It could have been a lot worse. I could've not turned the wheel and the car would've hit Lydia. Then again it could have been better if we were in my jeep since its a bigger car then Lydia's. I'm just thankful we are both still alive.
"What do we do, we have to get ice," Lydia reminds me. I laugh a little.
"We almost just died and you're still worried about her."
"Of course, she's my best friend," Lydia says. We walk out into the rain to see the damage and its bad. Definitely can't drive it. After inspecting Lydia's car we go to talk to the people in the other car that hit us. When the two people get out of the car I want to take a sledgehammer and throw it at their faces. Mrs. Yukimura and Kira stare back at Lydia and I. "Your Oni stabbed my best friend," Lydia snarls. Mrs. Yukimura looks unfazed by the statement.
"Then maybe she shouldn't have gotten in the way of the Oni trying to kill you," she says back, directing the statement to me. I cringe at her words and then watch Lydia bring her fist to Mrs. Yukimura's face. The blow knocks her to the ground and Kira sighs in relief.
"Thank god you did that, she was going crazy, I'm sorry about your friend Allison, I won't pretend I knew her, but if there is any way I can help, just tell me," Kira offers kindly. Lydia smiles at her.
"Good, then your driving."
-------------------------
We rush back into the apartment holding bags of ice and bring it to Chris who has everything set up with Scott, Deaton, Derek, and Isaac. I can tell Scott is a little bothered by Isaac bringing Allison back, but anything to retrieve her is worth it. Lydia explains the accident and how Kira is on our side. Scott is holding Allison as he waits for us to begin. Derek helps Lydia pour all the ice in the tub and then Deaton begins his explanation. "Alright Isaac, are you ready? All you have to do once she is in the water is hold her shoulders and describe the night she died it'll bring you to wherever her mind is and from there it's up to you, I wouldn't know how to do the rest seeing as I've never done this before," Deaton explains. Isaac begins to shake.
<Isaac's POV>
I nod at Deaton's directions and hike up my sleeves as Scott carefully places Allison's body in the tub. My hands shake but I hold it together. This is going to bring her back to everyone. Her father, her boyfriend, her best friend, everyone.
As everyone watches me nervous and excited my hands reach into the ice cold water and hold Allison's shoulders tightly. Deaton nods at me and I know it's fine for me to describe that night. I close my eyes tightly. "It was just me and you, we were fighting the Oni and I was knocked to the ground about to be killed, you grabbed the arrow you made and shot it at the Oni that was about to impale me. You killed it, you figured it out, then you were knocked to the ground and stabbed. You said your final goodbyes to Scott, Lydia, Stiles, and myself... Isaac Lahey."
Instantly my hands feel frozen there and my body seems as if it is being thrown back by giant winds. I don't know whether to be scared or peaceful. Eventually I end up in a giant white room with no windows or doors. The room isn't a room though. It is literally never ending. Yet, there she is, an ant in this giant space. Sitting on the ground looking at her own knees that are clad in a white dress. Her dark hair still falling over her face and her feet bare. I realize I can't hear her heart beat and her chest isn't moving up an down. She isn't alive, I remind myself.
My feet carry me to that spot. "Allison." Even my small whisper has an echo in this white space. Her eyes flick up at me. She stands up slowly and looks at me nervous.
"You aren't dead are you?" She asks. I shake my head. For a second she seems a little confused. "Oh, I think I am." My heart breaks in half. She doesn't even know she is dead.
"Yes you are, thats why I'm here, I have come to bring you back," I explain nobly. She completely ignores me.
"Did I kill it... the Oni?" She asks in a loud whisper. I nod. "Good."
"Allison, you want to come back don't you, so you can be with your dad, and your friends, and Scott," I say trailing off a bit.
Her fingers begin to fumble gracefully with each other. "How is my father?" She asks.
"Okay," I say a little annoyed.
"And Scott?"
"He's hurting," I say a little more agitated.
"And Lydia?"
"She's healing, now Allison answer me, do you want to come back with me?" I ask. Allison looks at me like she's seen a ghost, how ironic.
"Go back, now why would I do that, if my dying memory is true I think I ended things pretty well," she says cockily as she continues to walk around aimlessly. She started to sound like Stiles before the nogitsune with that statement.
"Allison, we need you, Lydia and Stiles almost just died to make sure we could bring you back, Scott is depressed, your father is alone, you have a choice, no a chance to come back, and this is a one time offer, so are you coming?" I ask holding out my palm. She looks at my pale hand hesitantly.
"If I leave here, I no longer have peace right?"
"Right, but you will have everything else." Her soft hand grabs my rough one and I have that rushing feeling again. Suddenly I am back at the Argent's. Allison shoots up in the tub before anyone can react. She takes in a long deep breath and grabs her chest, trying to make her breathing regular. I see tears in Mr. Argent's eyes and excitement forming in Scott and Lydia's eyes. We all wait anxiously for her to stand up. Scott takes a towel and says, "Allison." She turns to him and her face lights up.
"Scott!" She shouts then jumps into his arms, forgetting the towel. Allison locks lips with Scott and then looks around at the rest of us. I notice Stiles has moved behind everyone. "Dad!" Allison screams. Mr. Argent opens his arms for Allison and she gladly jumps into them. I smile. Father and daughter reunited.
"I love you so much Allison, I love you," Chris mumbles as Allison snuggles her head in his shoulder. Lydia coughs and Allison catches sight of her. No words were said, Allison just jumped into Lydia's grasp and they stand there happily. Lydia as breathing in between tears. In fact I'm surprised she can even see between the blood from her brow dripping into her eyes and the tears that are blurring any possible vision.
"Your safe Lydia, I'm safe, we're okay," Allison mumbles. Lydia nods quickly as they hug.
"I never thought I'd see my best friend again," Lydia says back. Allison smiles and then comes towards me. I smile at her proudly. She wraps her arms around me.
"Thank you Isaac," She says into my chest.
"Your welcome, it's good to see you breathing, and good to hear your heart beat," I say. She nods and then sees Kira. Allison looks confused and turns to Lydia. Lydia explains what happened.
"Stiles and I got in a car crash and Kira let us use her car to get the ice we needed for the bath." Allison nods and then walks back to Kira.
"I don't believe we met in the best way so let's re do that, do you agree?" She asks. Kira smiles and nods. "Hi I'm Allison Argent."
"Kira Yukimura, it's nice to meet you, and and welcome back to the living," Kira greets. Scott laughs from the corner. Allison whips her head back at him.
"I wouldn't laugh at me, you don't have anyone to laugh with you, speaking of which where is Stiles?" Allison asks. I see her get worried. Probably scared that he died because of the nogitsune. She must catch a glimpse of Stiles behind Derek. "Stiles, come here I wanna see you," Allison demands kindly with a smile that is distinctly Allison. Stiles stays silent and doesn't move. "Excuse us," Allison says and then begins to walk to the doorway, only stopping to grab Stiles' shoulder to pull him outside of the room.
<Allison's POV>
I drag Stiles into my room as gentle as possible considering his life is literally fading away. "You didn't listen to what I told you before I died,'' I start. Stiles refuses to look me in the eyes. When I had died I had told him not to blame himself, yet here he is feeling probably the biggest guilt in his life. I continue, "you cannot blame yourself okay? You did nothing wrong so please just hug me so we can defeat the nogitsune and save you like I've been saved," I demand. Stiles finally looks up at me and smirks a little. The expression reminds me of the first couple days I knew him. Where he was much happier, sarcastic, and for lack of a better word an asshole. He was indeed an ass, but a hysterical cocky ass. Those were the best days of my life, when the conflict that we are struggling through daily was non excitant. I wish it could still be like the days full of competitive double dates, make outs in my bedroom, and picking out outfits with Lydia.
Stiles finally opens his arms for me to run into. I carefully fold my arms around his back. "I'm glad you are best friends with Scott, I really am," I whisper in his ear. I hear him laugh a little.
"And I'm glad I have you to help convince Lydia to go out with me," Stiles mumbles. I don't need to see his face to know he is smirking. A scoff escapes my lips.
"Please, she doesn't need convincing, she loves you, although she says she is a little hesitant about being in a relationship," I inform him. I feel him nod his head on my shoulder.
"That's okay, now come on, your other friends and dad want to see you."
A/N Well holy fuck I guess even though I'm satan I can be good sometimes... how are you guys feeling about this chapter?
