Chapter 38
A/N: I would like to apologize to my readers for the delay in updating this story. I have encountered a major personal setback that has kept me from focusing on my story. I am still coping with the setback but I felt that I owe it to my readers to continue and see what our six moons are up to........
Bas' POV
I followed P'Godt as he made his way to the vegetable garden behind the cottage. I was starting to feel anxious as I tossed questions around in my mind.
Was he going to confront me about what he overheard from my conversation with P'Kim last night? Should I deny what he heard or should I confess? What if I confessed and he looked at me with scorn or pity? What if he said, "I'm so sorry, Bas, but I cannot be more than just a friend to you"? What if.......
The questions kept swirling in my mind that by the time we reached the garden, before P'Godt could even turn around, I grabbed him and said, "P'Godt, whatever you heard me say to P'Kim last night was totally untrue! I only said those things to him because I was trying to catch him to see if he had anything going for P'Cop, okay? I don't have any thing more than friendly feelings for you, okay???"
P'Godt did not say a word. He turned around and walked towards the wooden gate, holding on to it as if for support, as if his legs could no longer carry his weight. He bent and rested his head on to his hands.
I started to get worried. I walked over to him.
"P'Godt, are you okay? Say something, will you?"
He lifted his head and turned to me with eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Do you think I'm okay, Bas? What else can I say? You already turned me down before I could even say a word!"
My jaws dropped. "But...but...P'Godt, what are you trying to say?"
"Okay, Bas, even if you have already turned me down, let me tell you anyway that my feelings for you are more than just friendly. I love you, Bas. I have never tried to hide it from you. You just chose to be blind to it."
I could not believe what I was hearing. No, wait, I was more than happy to believe it.
I closed the small distance between us and hugged him tight.
He pulled me gently away from him.
"What does this mean, Bas?" he asked with a confused look.
"It means this," I said, and tiptoed to kiss him on his lips.
Again, he pulled me away from him.
"I want to hear you say whatever it is you want to say," he insisted.
"What I want to say, you big idiot, is that I love you back. I was just afraid to let you know because I was not sure if you felt the same way. Now kiss me back," I demanded.
Instead of kissing me back, he grabbed my arm and pushed the wooden gate open and started to lead me to the mini cottage.
"HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!"
Four pairs of heavy running feet started to come in our direction. Oh, no, P's, it was just an imaginary wolf.
