Chapter 34
Kimmon's POV
I lay awake in bed long after everyone had fallen asleep. At least that was how it looked like to me because the whole bedroom was silent. There was no movement of any kind under the blankets. There was total silence.
I was reminded of some lines from an old Christmas carol believed to have been taken from a poem written by Clement Moore:
"T'was the night before Christmas,
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse."
Even Copter who had initially been tossing and turning beside me had finally settled down under the blankets.
I finally started to feel drowsy. I was starting to close my eyes when I heard a loud thud on the floor.
Everybody stood up from their beds.
P'Tae went to turn on the light.
We saw Godt on the floor with a sheepish grin on his face. We could not see Bas' face because he was hiding under the blanket.
"I was having a nightmare and I fell off the bed," he explained sheepishly.
"No, I was the one having a nightmare and I pushed you off the bed," Bas protested from under the blanket.
A/N: I'm sorry this is a ridiculously short chapter. For some reason I'm having a brain freeze right now but I wanted to get this particular crazy scenario out there.
I promise to make it up to you, dear readers, in the next chapter.
