Chapter 19

Kimmon's POV

If I were to be completely honest, I would have to admit that Godt was spot on with his calculations. I was using the excuse of pulling Copter by the waist to take the chance of being physically close to him. Somehow I had this soft feeling towards him, much like the way I would feel towards the younger brother I never had.

I hoped that Copter did not misinterpret my actions just because he had seen me blushing. Why did he run away from me? Should I feel offended?

I went looking for him. I found him walking down the narrow trail that lead to P'Kul's house.

"Copter!" I called out to him, "where are you going?"

"Nowhere in particular," he said, "I just wanted to see what was on either side of this pathway."

"Well, don't go off wandering too far," I said, "if anything happens to you, you might be too far away from us to call for help. Why don't I accompany you."

He did not respond but kept on walking. Since he did not say no, I took it to mean that he did not mind me walking beside him.

I did not regret walking along with him. We saw different kinds of wild flowers that we had never seen before. There were different colored dragon flies flying about.

We both did not see the small hole on my side of the pathway. Before I knew it, my right foot got caught in it and I felt a sharp pain in my ankle. I cried out in agony.

Copter tried to catch me but I was too heavy for him and we both fell to the ground with Copter landing on top of me. For a few seconds I forgot about my pain when I felt Copter's chest against mine and his soft cheek against mine. If I just turned my head very slightly, our lips would have met. Bloody hell, Kimmon, what crazy thoughts are going round your head, I scolded myself.

I tried to get up and felt the sharp pain all over again. Copter pulled me up and I stood up on one leg. It was too painful for my injured foot to bear my weight.

With Copter's arm around my waist and my arm on his shoulder, I hopped on one foot back to the cottage.

The others rushed towards us when they saw us coming and saw me with my injured foot. P'Tae and Tee took over Copter and helped me inside the cottage.

Bas looked around the medicine cabinet for some kind of first aid kit. He brought out a bottle of tincture of arnica and a roll of ace bandage. He was getting ready to take care of me when Godt grabbed the first aid materials from him.

Godt then made me sit on a chair and knelt in front of me. He took out a cotton swab and dipped it in the bottle of tincture of arnica. The ice cold liquid hurt my skin at first as Godt applied it to my ankle but after a while I started to feel the soothing effect. He then wrapped the ace bandage around my ankle.

"I would have been able to do it just as well," Bas complained to Godt.

"Not as good as the way I did it," said Godt, with a satisfied smile.
