Ten years later

I lay in bed and let out a sigh. With my parents being away and me having to babysit I was feeling both annoyed and bored.

"hey bro" my ten year old sister luna said skipping into my room.

"luna what did I say about coming into my room without knocking"

"you said it super rude" she muttered.

"exactly! Now go back and knock!"

She rolled her eyes, went back to the door and knocked "oh dear brother may I come in?" she said sarcastically

"of course you can" I grinned.

"great now can we please do something fun?"

"sure I'll put on a movie"

"yay!"

We put on the movie elf since the Christmas seasons coming around. We snuggled under blankets and watched the movie. Everything was great until the phone rang.

I got up and answered it "hello?"

"honey your fathers been injured. I going to pick you up please be ready" my mother's panicked voice came through the phone.

"ok mom me and luna will be right outside"

"ok baby I'll be right there" he hung up.

I walked into the living room to see my sister still watching TV.

"welcome back bro- hey what's with the serious look?"

I sighed "dad's been injured"

Her face turned pale "what?"

"we have to wait outside for mom"

"o-ok" she looked shaken up. It makes sense her and dad are close.

"hey" I took her by the shoulder and smiled reassuringly "dad's strong. He's gonna be just fine"

She smiled back at me "thanks bro"

"no problem sis"

We waited outside and mom soon came in the car and picked us up.

"mom what happened dad" luna asked panicking.

Mom sighed "do you remember danganrompa?"

"yeah it's that messed up show you and dad were on" I said.

"Well team Danganrompa weren't too happy with us cancelling their show so they promised a couple of hardcore fans that if they get rid of us then the show will be brought back. They attacked us and pushed your father out a window."

We both gasped

"they were arrested before they could badly hurt me but I am worried about your father"

"don't worry mom I'm sure dad will be fine" I said reassuringly.

Mom smiled at me "thanks baby"

We arrived at the hospital, asked for dad's room number and ran to his room.

"is my husband ok" mom asked nervously.

The nurse looked at us sadly "I'm afraid his spine has been crushed. He'll never walk again"

Mom covered his mouth in shock and luna broke down. I just stood there in disbelief. Dad will never walk again!?

One week later

I sat outside looking at the sky. Whether it be stars or clouds the sky always seems to calm me.

"hey sport" dad said wheeling over to me. It was hard seeing dad in a wheelchair. He was always so bouncy and full of life. It feels like they killed a part of him.

"hey dad"

"you've been so brave for your mother and sister. I'm so proud of you" he said sincerely.

"it was nothing" I said getting embarrassed.

"no it was definitely something!" he insisted "Your mother's been through alot and this whole thing hasn't been easy on him but you were there to help out. Your a real hero buddy and I want you reward your heroism" he took off his jacket and handed it to me.

"but dad this is your favourite jacket"

"and your my favourite son so I have no problem giving it to you" he grinned.

I teared up and hugged him "thanks dad I'll wear it with pride" I put it on. It was a bit big on me but I'm sure I'll grow into it.

"looks good on you pal" dad chuckled "now I better go do the dishes before your mother eats my head off" he left.

I looked down at dad's jacket with a newfound determination "I'm going to find who hurt you dad" I whispered to myself "and I'm going to make them suffer!"
