Flashbacks
Lately the memories of Brent have been haunting me.
Suddenly after my death, every memory I've ever made with him have been flooding my mind.
Flashback
I was running through the long, grassy fields, the wind in my long, wavy hair, a big smile on my face.
I was happy and laughing. I felt him catch up to me and his arms circled my waist.
He laughed in my ear and kissed the side of my head.
"I love you, Lindsey" Brent spoke softly.
We swayed in the wind together "I love you too, Brent" I turned my head and smiled at him.
We laid down in the long grass and just laid there together. Ignoring the world around us, we forgot about everything, but each other.
I smiled to myself, I loved reliving these memories, I felt my eyes sting with tears.
I was walking around the same field we were in just a few years ago. I laid down in the same spot we had. I laid down in the long grass and closed my eyes tightly.
I just wanted to lay there and relive everything while I could.
We were on a date, at the state fair. I loved going to the fair. We were walking on the roads and looking at the gift shops and tents they had up.
Brent had stopped by a tent selling jewelry, he smiled as he looked down at some of the jewels, I smiled as I walked through the tent, looking at some of the other stuff.
He suddenly looked up at me. He lifted a beautiful, golden necklace, hanging from the necklace were three small diamond hearts.
"This would look gorgeous on you" he smiled at me.
I blushed and looked down at my feet.
"Come here" Brent told me softly.
I walked to him and pulled my hair out of the way. He placed the necklace around my neck and hooked it.
"You look absolutely stunning" he kissed my cheek. He looked to the clerk and said "we'll take it" he paid for the necklace and we walked around a bit more.
We came across the ferris wheel. Brent wasn't a big fan of roller coasters, he preferred to play the games, he was cute and competitive like that.
I looked up at the ferris wheel. "Nope" he shook his head, knowing what I was thinking.
I gave him a cute, pouty look "please, you know you want to" I teased him
That got him. He smiled and shook his head, "fine, you got me" he finally agreed. I jumped with excitement "yay!" I squealed.
I grabbed his hand and ran with him to get into one of the carts.
Soon enough the worker started the ride and we were moving.
Eventually we stopped at the top, so that other people could get on. "You know, I've always wanted to kiss at the top of the ferris wheel" I grinned at him.
He smirked at me "oh really, well let me be the one to grant that wish for you" he smiled and leaned into me.
He kissed me softly on the lips. I kissed him back, savoring it.
When we pulled away, the wheel started moving again. We laughed together until the ride stopped.
We got off and continued walking around a bit more before we had to leave.
I remember this like it was yesterday, it replayed in my head constantly, but this was the hardest part for me to relive.
We hopped into Brent's car and drove off. I wished we could've stayed at the fair that day, then none of this would've happened.
We were driving at a normal pace, but the radio was turned up pretty loud and we were having a conversation as well.
A big tractor trailer had swerved into the wrong lane and with us not paying attention, it has hit us head on.
Our car flipped and landed upside down, on the side of the road.
I passed out cold.
When I woke up, I was overheating, sweating, I felt like I was on fire.
I opened my eyes slightly to see that the back of Brent's truck has caught on fire and it was slowly creeping towards us.
I slowly unbuckled myself and fell. I looked over at Brent, who hadn't woke up yet. I tried shaking him.
"Brent" I tried to tell "Brent wake up" he wasn't moving.
I tried unbuckling him as well, as I heard footsteps approach the truck.
"Come on, wake up please" I begged him as I reached for his seatbelt.
I saw a man stand before the car and reach through Brent's window "no pulse" he said seriously.
He looked to be a paramedic. "Come on sweetheart, I'm gonna get you out of here" he said kindly.
He grabbed me and carried me away from the burning vehicle.
"No sir….my boyfriend..he's still" I tried to tell him.
"I know, I hate to say it but he's not gonna make it" he sat me down on one of the ambulance beds and pushed it slowly until the ambulance.
I couldn't believe what he was saying.
Brent was gone?
