Just a short poem

to record

a scooped up wonder at McGauran's.

Nothing profound

just a lobster-like form

                                 cooped

in a chalky conch

warrior claw cantankerously unclenched

        both defiant cannon

        and surrender appeal.

Four palisades circumspect-ed you:

                                                        your shell

                                                        my hands

                                                        the onlookers

                                                        and the sea

yet

besieged by seagull gawkers

eager to simply         see you          you

                                                        could only

                                                        bear-like raise your pit-paw

                                                        and sadly wave.
