Lies - A Betrayal
I thought you guys might like this little shorty story, enjoy, my lovely readers!
Point of View: Anonymous
We watch as they bury the mannequin that is in the coffin, six feet under. The tombstone and the statue of an angel wielding a trident marking my former life's gravesite.
"They bought it." My master says.
"Yes." I agree. "They were all so upset." I smirk.
"You played your part well." My master compliments me. "But you still have yet to make this world mine. When will it happen?" He asks dangerously.
"Unfortunately, though it would have been nice to have their powers, Kronos and Gaea needed to be crushed in order to gain the absolute trust of those fools. Now that they think I am dead, they'll be heartbroken. Even fake ties through my soul can be harmful to them. They'll never be whole again and my name will always tear at them and everything they are. I'll rejoin them when it fully settles in. The one person they can never move on from or forget. Their little hearts will be obliterated. It's a long process, but the most fun way to torture them. And you get to watch, master." I reply easily.
"Hmm." He sets a hand on my shoulder. "Such an intelligent little soldier. I am glad I chose you out of all of your generation. That young Athenian girl may be smart, but you surpass her formidably. Your acting skills are better than that of Luke Castellan. Your power was already far greater than both the Grace siblings combined, now it is unimaginable. The prodigy of your age and the most powerful demigod to ever live. You please me every time. I love your mind. Especially when you call me master. You are mine, don't forget it."
"Yes, master." I riposte submissively, knowing my place.
"Tell me your plan." He commands.
"After they realize that they'll never get over me, I'll bring their precious world back to life. But what I've done leaves a mark on the soul. I'll remind them of it in small amounts and they will break further as I remind them with every beat of their pained hearts. I'll accuse them and then forgive them repeatedly. I'll cause confusion and I'll make them fall apart from the inside out. Every last one of them. A character so built can tear down even the play. I'll pretend like I was captured and magic was worked. When the time comes and your army is ready, you won't have too much challenge. The gods will be harder, even though I have effected most of them. Hera grew attached to her loyal foundation for her bridge and saving them all the time has invaded their corrupted selves. They'll soon feel it just as much as the demigods. You will have what you want, master." I inform him.
He grabs my face and looks me over. "So perfect and obedient. Once this is all over, I will have no use for you, pet." His grip tightens. "Such a shame that you'll be wasted. Your intelligence, your beauty, your purity. A true tragedy. Your mother wants you to know she loves you."
"Thank you for giving me her message, master." I say, shadows covering my face as my head drops at the mention of my mother.
"Oh, you are still somewhat defiant after all this time." He removes his hand from my face and it goes across my face. I don't move without his permission and wait for more because I deserve it. "Your mother is so important to you. Should I cause her undeniable agony to make your defiance dissipate? Straighten and speak."
I do as told and keep my eyes down. "No, master. I beg you not to hurt her. I will never defy you. Please leave her out of this. I will take any punishment."
He makes me look at him. "Fine, pet. Do you have any ideas on how I may use you after you win me my kingdom?"
"Sacrifice me." I answer quietly.
He chuckles. "You refer to the old ways?"
"Yes, master." I reply.
"Which ritual? The one where I take your power for my own? The one I take your body as mine? Which one, hmm? Are you suggesting you are better than I?" He searches my eyes.
"No, master. I would never. I am beneath you. I merely meant-" I start to argue, fearing for my mother.
"Relax, pet. You get so worked up, yet I love it. It is so amusing to watch. You wish me to sacrifice everything you are to ensure my new kingdom will stay in place forever, erasing your existence forever. So loyal, I am so proud to have you, precious pet." He puts his face next to mine and whispers into my ear. "Don't forget you are mine and you belong to no one else. Not even yourself. Who do you belong to?"
"I belong to Master Hades, King of the Underworld and rightful heir to the throne of Myth. My life and soul are his and I follow his commands. I have no thoughts of my own and obey the word of Master Hades. Command me, Master Hades. I am yours." I answer without hesitation.
"Good." He gently caresses my face. "I cannot believe you surpass my children. How did Poseidon have you and not me?" He growls.
"I am yours, master. I do not belong to the Sea God." I answer.
He grins and chuckles. "Prove it to me."
"Yes, master. What must I do?" I reply.
"Kill your father. Drink his blood. He will reform and by time he does, the war will be upon Olympus." Hades orders.
"As you wish, master." I hiss and sink into the shadows, traveling to Atlantis. I appear in Poseidon's room and he whirls around. His eyes widen.
"Per-" He starts, but I cut him off as I slit his throat.
I shush him. "I am Master Hades's to command. His will is for you to die." I tell him and grab a cup from his bedside table. I press it under the slash as he tries to keep himself from dying with the water around him. I know that Hades appears behind me, watching me follow his order. I shove down Poseidon's powers over the sea. I raise the cup to my lips and spill the contents down my throat.
Hades cackles and when I finish drinking it, the cup drops from my hands and I stare down at Poseidon, who is watching me sadly. "Now he knows! This is always my favorite part. How does it feel, little brother? I made him mine far before he was ever your son."
Poseidon chokes out, "Perseus, find yourself." Then he's gone and his body shimmers away.
Hades booms with laughter and we reappear at his Dark Palace in the Realm of Shadows. "You truly are mine. You consumed your father's blood. He knows all about it and you know all about him. Put your plan into action, dear pet."
"Yes, master." I answer and walk out the throne room doors of his palace. I gather the souls of the dead and those monsters and minor gods who have turned.
Four Years Later
Hades strikes me and I land on the floor.
"You test my patience! When are you going back and shredding them to pieces?!" He yells.
I hold myself up by my elbows and look at the floor as I answer. "Tomorrow. It is the four year anniversary and my arrival then will cause them pure and excruciating agony. I have not disobeyed you, master. I am sorry. Please forgive my behavior. It will not happen again."
He comes over and I flinch away from him slightly. He sighs but chuckles. "Fine. I should have known better. You are so patient whereas I am not. Your plans are flawless. Luke Castellan was a good pawn, but you are the perfect strategist and warrior. The blessed actor with all the talent. All mine to command. I will enjoy this next act. It intrigues me."
"Yes, master." I say.
He draws my head over to look at him. "A bruise. It seems I forgot myself." He gets me up off the floor.
I shake my head and he raises an eyebrow. "No, beat me."
"Why?" Hades inquires.
"I leave tomorrow. Beat me, torture me, mark me. I need proof. Make sure you are gone after it though. Bruise me, burn me, whip me, anything to make it look like I've been in your dungeons for four years. Make it hurt." I tell him.
"Are you ordering me?" He growls.
"No, master." I shake my head.
He smirks and his fingertips run along my jawline before he draws his hand back and his fist hits my jaw. I hold it and hold still. "It's no fun if you don't fight back."
"It is far more fun if there are more things involved." I spit out blood.
He cackles and we are in one of his favorite rooms to use on his disobedient servants. I was one once. When I was being tested by him when I was little.
Later That Night
I retch up blood on the floor of his dungeon and he comes over. I can't see out of my left eye. He looks me over, turning my head from side to side.
"Perfect. As always. You'll find appropriate clothes on your bed. Leave tonight and go to Olympus first. They'll all be there honoring your death." He laughs as he informs me. "I'll see you soon, my pet."
"Yes, master." I rasp.
Seven Hours Later
I throw open the throne room doors and everyone turns to see who it is, gasping at the sight of me. I make it to the middle of the throne room before I begin to fall and Frank comes and catches me.
"Percy?! Oh my gods! Percy! How are you here?! What happened?!" Frank questions.
Blood runs out of the corners of my mouth and it pours from my mouth as I answer him. "Ha...des. Hades faked my death. I laid in the casket...for the longest time and when you closed it and left...he came back and took me. He killed...my father."
Annabeth is holding my hand now, crying tears of joy and relief.
Frank holds me as I nearly fall to the floor.
"I am sorry." Fake tears fall down my face. "He threatened to kill my mother. I couldn't lose her too. Not with all the guilt from the wars." I manage to tell them before I throw up more blood in a huge fountain on the floor.
Apollo flashes down to my side and takes me from Frank. He shushes me. "Okay, Percy. Let's get you fixed." I groan in pain as he lifts me into his arms. "Sorry." I just shake my head and he flashes us to his small palace on Olympus.
He lays me down on a bed and places his hands on my chest. As his hands glow with bright light, I close my eyes and immediately start to feel better. Somewhere along the way, I fall asleep.
I wake up to someone holding my hand to find it is Annabeth. I smile and squeeze her hand. I can see out of both eyes again.
"Hey." I breathe.
"Hey." She smiles and tears fall down her face. She climbs onto the bed and crushes me under her weight.
I chuckle painfully, so many lies. "Careful, Annabeth. I'm still a little sore." It's true, but even the pain I was in before doesn't bother me.
She sits up instantly. "Sorry." She apologizes.
"It's alright. I'm just glad to be back home." I tell her.
"Me too." She traces the features of my face, like she forgot and is committing them to memory.
"Any news?" I wonder.
All the gods are around the room listening now. Having never left it seems. They pay closer attention.
"We can't find Hades anywhere. Not even Nico can. Can you tell us anything?" Annabeth informs me.
"Is that all I am to you?" I ask, making hurt lace my voice and sounding upset. She looks shocked. "Was he right? Am I just a tool to all of you? Your slave? A source of information and an arm to wield a sword?"
"No!" She begins to freak out. "I promise you're not. I love you, Percy. I have just missed you and I'm only worried. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that."
I smile warmly. "Okay. I've just been with him for so long. I'm glad I'm back, Annie. I really have missed you."
She looks hugely relieved. "Yes, you are back. I love you, Percy."
"Okay, Annabeth." I sigh as I relax into the comfort of the sheets and pillows around me.
"How do you feel?" Apollo comes over.
"Tired." I breathe. "I haven't slept like that for ages but I barely ever slept in his dungeons. It was nice and there weren't any nightmares. Thank goodness."
Apollo nods at me. "Can you get up?"
"Am I supposed to fight wounded?" I turn hurt again and he rushes to reassure me.
"No. No, Percy. That's not it. I only meant, can you sit up? I want to make sure you are okay." Apollo panics.
"Oh." I say. "Alright." I push myself up and force a terrible wince. But I remain sitting up.
"All right." Apollo smiles gently and works around me.
"Did my brother tell you anything?" Zeus asks.
"He has his crazy idea about a new world in his image. A lot like Kronos and Gaea. But he wants humans. He's going to sacrifice a lot of us to ensure he won't be overthrown like Kronos was. And he wants to make the gods who didn't turn and defied him his servants. After he tortures you. But those are the basics. I'm not so important he tells me everything." I tell him happily.
"Why did he take you?" Hera wonders.
"Oh, I don't know. Something about breaking hearts, I think. All I remember is the dark and the pain. He hardly ever talked. Even four years together down in his dungeons doesn't entitle me to too much. I learned other things from the servants and other...creatures." I riposte.
"Oh my, you poor thing." Aphrodite whispers.
"I don't want your pity. I bet you left me down there to suffer, didn't you." I turn cold once more.
"No. We only meant we are sorry for what you went through. We never wanted you down there. We would never have left you with him if we had known." Artemis has to reassure me.
"All right." I look down at my hands.
Two Months Later
"Percy, I never said that. I never would. Please, forgive me. I didn't mean it." Jason begs.
"But it sounded like it." I cry and he starts fretting.
"No, no. I swear to the gods I would never ever mean it. Please believe me. You're like my brother. I love you, man. Come on. Let me make it up to you." Jason says.
I smirk and he looks surprised. I snap his neck and he drops onto the floor of the storage cabin. I make sure nobody is around outside with the water in the air. Searching far out to make sure not even nymphs caught a glance. Then I make my way down to the Hermes cabin and knock on their door.
Connor answers and grins hugely when he sees its me. I smile warmly back. "Hey, Perce."
"Hi, Connor. Hey, have you seen Jason? We were supposed to spar in the arena like an hour ago but he never showed. Any ideas? I got the sword I was supposed to get...?" I trail off and he frowns.
He helps me search and then when we head to the storage cabin, he turns pale. "Oh my gods! Jason!"
An Hour Later
"Someone broke his neck. He was murdered." Chiron sighs and draws the cover over Jason's cold body. "Another hero perished. A shroud will be burned tonight. We will bury him tomorrow morning."
A Week Later
"Who is killing all of the demigods?!" Zeus slams his hand down on one of his armrests.
"It has to be Hades or one of his minions." I input and Zeus nods appreciatively at my suggestion.
"But who?" Athena has frown lines galore right now as she is deep in thought.
After the meeting, I head out and return to the Dark Palace. I come to stand in front of Hades. "Greetings, master."
"Brilliant performance as usual, pet. And perfect timing. The army is ready. Warn the demigods with a note and then come lead my army. Lead me to victory." He tells me.
"Thank you, master. It will be done." I bow and shadow travel away.
The Next Day
I stand on the other side of the bridge and sneer at Frank, Hazel, and Piper. They stare in disbelief at me from their positions. Everybody does. They are devastated. Especially Chiron and his Party Ponies.
"Kill them all. Take no prisoners. No one survives." I order and the command is relayed across the ranks.
Annabeth is crying as she draws her dagger. "Percy?"
I snicker and she chokes on her tears. "Sorry, wisdom spawn. The Percy you knew was never real. I have been Master Hades's since the very beginning. Anything you thought I felt for you wasn't real. Nothing was."
"Eliminate Olympus." I spit venomously.
Hades watches from his throne that is being held by two Laestrygonian Giants. He is watching in amusement.
I advance on my own and take down the harder opponents easily for my soldiers, helping them to overwhelm the pitiful forces of Olympus.
As we reach the doors and they are pushed back, the fighting stops as we all come to realize that they are backed up against the doors of the Empire State Building like they were before.
Zeus and Ares step forward and wield their weapons, looking at me tiredly and sadly.
Right when I am about to charge, a huge beam of light crashes down in between the three of us and it shakes the ground.
A figure is kneeling in the ground, holding a trident.
Poseidon.
He rises and pushes his brother and nephew back. His trident coming to bear, pointed at me. "I see you still haven't taken my advice, Perseus."
"What advice was that?" I sneer as I wield my blades.
I charge before he has a chance to answer, but my eyes widen as he drops his trident and sends my swords flying with a spell, flicking his hand at them. He catches my wrists and holds onto them. He starts to glow with a blue outline and it forces my sea green aura to surround me.
"Find yourself, son. You are still inside." Poseidon tells me.
"No!" I scream as his light invades everything about me. I scream over and over as I am forced to reverse everything Hades has ever done to me. "Stop it!" I scream at him. "I can't!"
"I will not stop. You will return to who you were. This is not you. Get away from the shadows. Find the light you hold within. You are my son and you belong to yourself." Poseidon tells me forcefully and firmly.
"No!" I scream up at the sky and I explode with light.
I drop to my knees and he is still holding my wrists. I weep and he smiles warmly down at me. Steam rolls off of me and I am breathing heavily now.
"You were in the shadows and the dark your whole life. Hades found out about you and made you a deal once you were old enough to understand. Your mother was the term you fought so hard for. Why you gave in as a child. You have never been free from him. But you have always been defiant. It took him many years to break what hold you had over your control and it made you something you were not. Do something wrong, he would take it out on your mother. Now he cannot. You can fight back, son." Poseidon tells me. "Get up." His voice is stone but fatherly.
I look up at him.
Freedom.
My mother.
"Perseus, you will obey." Hades growls from his throne.
"Get up." Poseidon says more sternly.
I rise shakily to my feet with my father's help. I begin to fall but he steadies me. I haven't been myself in forever. I don't remember how to do this anymore.
"She is safe. Fight back." Poseidon tells me.
"Obey, Perseus." Hades doesn't sound so sure now.
She is safe.
My mother is safe.
I glare up at Hades and my sea green outline comes back to life, more vibrant than before. My voice is feral. "I am going to kill you, God of the Underworld. You will pay for all that you have done." I lunge at him and knock him off of his throne. We go rolling and grapple for the upper hand.
Everyone watches as silence continues on the battlefield but for Hades and I.
He throws me clear into the wall above the entrance to the Empire State Building. I drop to the ground on my feet and pick up my swords.
"They won't work for you now that you have lost your shadows." Hades growls.
I snarl and my grip on them tightens, dispersing their magic and turning them into what they once were to me. "You forget they are mine. With my light restored, I can kill you. And I am going to kill you."
"You are no match for me, little boy." Hades snaps.
"Die where you stand." I spit and am in his face before he can blink, but he reacts just in time to fend off my first swing.
After hours of matching skills, I kick him and send him hurtling into a car.
I heave my air in and out.
"I still have my godly form left and look at you," Hades smirks as he climbs back onto the pavement. "Out of breath, worn out, and weakened."
"You forget who and what I am. Especially now." I say.
"It will destroy you. You were dark before." Hades sneers.
"You're wrong. I accepted you because I was still myself deep inside. My desire to protect my mother kept me from completely succumbing to your will." I argue. "I am not yours. And I don't need a godly form to hand your ass to you. You are the weak one. I know what I want to protect. I know who I am. It's the reason I was able to be saved. You forgot long ago who you were. I am not like you. You can't have me. You can't have anything."
"You're calling me weak?" Hades chuckles. "You gave in to me and broke, down in my cells."
"No, that was not being weak. I was a child. I didn't know any better. By time I learned, I was already in too deep. No one can fight alone. You came to me knowing I would only think of my mother. I hid inside myself so you couldn't kill what light I had left. But I'm stronger than you think. You can't fight me with your shadows, it won't work." My one sword is still pointed at him.
He laughs. "What if I kill your mother now?"
"You can't touch her." I growl.
"Maybe not." He sighs. "There was a time when, even if I just mentioned your mother, you would obey instantly. I miss those days."
My eyes narrow and I know everyone is listening and watching intently. "Because you always had her. Now you don't. And I served you since I was a child, knowing if I disobeyed that she'd be tortured or killed. You were always there, whispering, feeding me lies and warnings. You poisoned my mind. But I could never do anything without fearing for my mother. It remained the only childish thing about me. The fear was fostered since I can remember. A constant reminder and something I never left the child mindset of." I say.
"Yes, servants are always better when trained at a very young age. You were three when I found you." Hades responds and snickers. "So innocent and pure."
"Not anymore. I have lived far too long and through far too much to be those things." I say tiredly.
"Let's end this, nephew." Hades sighs.
"Agreed." I snarl and my aura glows brighter.
Poseidon is at my side in the next second and Hades becomes wary. "Let me help you."
"This is my fight." I tell him.
"You said it yourself." He smiles at me. "No one can fight alone."
I stare at him and a tear runs down my face as I smile warmly. "I have only ever been alone."
"That changes now. I want to get to know my son." Poseidon informs me.
I nod. "Okay." I say, smiling some. "Then you should know I hate the color pink."
He laughs and gets in his stance, so do I. I raise my swords and focus on Hades. "Alright, uncle," I say. "You or me. Who's dying today?"
Hades scowls. "You should know the answer, nephew."
I smirk as I run him through before anyone can react. "You're right. I do know." My father is staring with huge eyes at what I just did.
"You always do." Hades says as blood runs down the blades of my swords. He chokes as I slide them in further, blood coming out of his mouth.
"I hate you." I tell him but tears cascade down my face.
"I know." Hades gasps out.
"Tell me why." I say darkly, shadows covering my face.
"Jealousy. I wanted what my brothers had. What my family had." He admits.
"Why me?" I ask.
"Because..." He coughs. "You were the most loyal, the purest and most powerful. I coveted the power you had. I envied Poseidon for having the perfect child."
"You corrupted my light." I snap halfheartedly. "I shouldn't forgive you, but I will anyways."
I know he smiles. "Thank you, nephew."
"You ruled my life for so long. I truly do hate you." I tell him.
"I'm sorry." Hades breathes.
"So am I." I admit and then pull out my swords, catching him before he can fall and hit the ground. He begins to flicker in and out.
"Nephew?" He asks quietly.
"What is it, Hades?" I reply, extremely tired.
"Am I fading?" He whispers.
"Yes, uncle." New tears slip down my face.
"Why?" He asks.
"Because no one really believes in you anymore and you are tired. It's better this way. Just rest now." I answer.
"Okay." He says as his legs start to disappear. "Goodbye, Perseus." He tells me as the rest of his body is gone.
"Goodbye, Hades." I tell him, just as he fades away.
Poseidon comes over and wraps an arm around my shoulders. He keeps me standing as I start to fall over from exhaustion. "Are you all right?"
I lay my head on his chest. "No, not really. I'll never be all right. He was a part of me for so long. But I'll move on. I'm just relieved I am free from that choking hold he always had on me. I was enslaved to his will for over twenty years. I can't remember anything else."
Poseidon sighs. "I know. I should have been there."
"It's okay." I tell him. "You can make it up to me."
He chuckles and Zeus clears his throat. Poseidon helps me turn around and make it over to Zeus, who is watching me carefully.
"You can all stop looking at me like that. Despite what you all might think, I am not the same person who misled you or the one you met a long time ago. I'm the person who was buried along with a child over twenty years ago. I'd never do any of that." I speak loud enough for everyone to hear.
Someone speaks up and comes forward, making me look at her. "Percy?"
I smile and laugh weakly. "Hello, Annabeth."
"Are you...?" She doesn't finish as she frowns.
"No." I chuckle and shake my head, leaning further into Poseidon. "As I said, I am not the same person you've been with for as long as you knew him. I am a different person entirely. I have never loved a woman before, just my mother. I hold the memories, but I am not him. I am the child who gave everything he had to keep his mother safe. That is all I have ever cared about."
Poseidon watches over me kindly as he keeps me on my feet. "You are tired. You should rest."
"I can explain a few things before I sleep for a little bit." I tell him and he nods. "When my father stopped, well, we will call him 'Dark Percy.' When my father stopped Dark Percy, he forced me to come out and he destroyed the shell I was inside. He was kind of a real person and it hurt him a lot for me to come out. It killed him, so to speak. And here I am. It's why he screamed in agony. My light took him over. I am 'Light Percy.' Nice to meet you, Annabeth Chase."
She blinks at me. "You mean you were technically two people the entire time?"
"Pretty much, yes. But Dark Percy was and has been, up until Poseidon and I killed him, in control since I was about five. That's when Hades was able to get his message fully across to me and I finally understood exactly what would happen to my mother. I heard you and everything else, but I couldn't answer you. I couldn't even influence Dark Percy. We had one thing in common, our mother. And the love we held for her, the thing that made us want to protect her. It became instinct. Whenever he even talked about her, I would beg him not to hurt her. Even if we were talking about her just as my lineage with Poseidon. Him saying her name made me weak and made me vulnerable to his command. He pushed the right buttons and I never fought back. When I was little, he tortured me and kept telling me, 'Disobey the slightest order and she dies.' Things like that. Suffering something worse than death was one of them. I grew up fearing one thing, losing my mother.
In a world where I didn't have a father and Gabriel Ugliano was Alecto, a Kindly One, I only had one parent. He used my abandonment issues that I didn't really understand and my, well, you could call it overprotectiveness of my mother made me easier to persuade to join him. I didn't know who Poseidon was or why he left us all alone. I didn't understand Gabriel was Alecto until after Dark Percy came to be. So, I blamed Poseidon for leaving my mother and I in the hands of the monster I hated almost as much as I hated Hades himself. I didn't understand and by time I could, I was brainwashed into thinking in a particular pattern.
That pattern was to please Hades and protect the one thing I absolutely loved and cherished. Other than that, I was cold, dark, hated everything else. As I grew older, he would do different things and finally, I was ready to enter your world and set forth a plan of my own making to Hades's liking and all I cared about was that it was flawless, keeping my mother safer and safer. The better I performed, the safer she was.
I felt guilty, Dark Percy was more...happy because of our mother. But, I think Hades grew whatever else was there into something I would never be. He twisted the things that made me whole to make me obey." I elucidate.
"There seems to be much more we need to discuss. But I see you are innocent, young man." Zeus speaks up.
"Oh, I don't know how much longer I'll be awake. It took a lot more than I thought it would to break free of Dark Percy's control and far more energy was expended to make Hades fade so soon. My light is also not fully restored. I'm still healing. I'll be awhile before I wake up, but I will finish the rest. I promise." I reply.
Zeus nods. "Did he turn you immortal?"
"Yeah, after he faked Dark Percy's death." I sigh.
"Get him to a place to rest, Poseidon." Hera murmurs.
Two Weeks Later
"It has been two weeks. How long will it take him to heal fully?" Zeus sounds irritated and impatient as the council meets.
That's when I walk in after chuckling quietly. "Calm down, uncle. I am here. It takes a very long time to restore light after so long of being in the dark. Not to mention regain so much expended energy."
"Then finish your story." Ares demands.
"There's really not much else to tell you. You know the rest and you can fill in the years you don't know about. I was trained and tortured. I was tuned into the perfect servant for Hades's needs. That's about it." I shrug.
"That cannot be all." Athena comments.
"Actually, it is quite possible I missed a few things. To save my energy, I slept within my own soul. If I would not have, I would have perished. Dark Percy tended to draw on my power as well as his own after turning it dark for his own purposes. I guarantee you though, that I would have known after waking up unless Hades did something to him. I retain all memories, whether they be mine or not." I agree, but then end up disagreeing and proving my point further.
"So, you did it all for your mother?" Hera smiles warmly.
I look at her, studying her, before I speak. "Yes, I did. I couldn't help myself. Loyal to the end. Nobody is perfect." I chuckle. "I can explain details and background information, but, other than that, there is not much else to give you. I often waited until nighttime to report to Hades, came up with plans for him and myself, and generally acted accordingly."
"You say it was not you, but yet you speak of yourself." Zeus points out suspiciously.
"Well, when the memories are in my head and I see out of my eyes, it is confusing. Dark Percy and I were one in the same, yet completely separate entities. I was born, he was created. A true monstrosity and Hades's pride for his war effort. Look at it this way," I tell him and they all listen intently. "We are the same person, different people, and neither each other nor another being. We are both, either, and neither. Well, were, he's gone now, banished and dead. Sadly, I find I miss him because he was a part of me for so long, but he is at peace now, no longer a dark force of pure energy. That's all he really was, not really a person while living in my body and using it as his own. They are both his and my memories, mine, and his, but they are neither of ours. Quite twisted really, I don't like explaining it more than calls for. So, I hope you caught on, I will not repeat it for a while now. It is very tiring to think about." I finish.
"Very well, I see your point. You are not to blame. You were young, impressionable, loyal, and loved your mother." Zeus nods.
"A mother is God in the eyes of a child." I muse, smiling to myself and they all look at me.
"I agree completely." Hestia comes over.
"In all my years of being enshrouded in the dark, I do not believe Dark Percy could have harmed you. You remind us both far too much of Sally Jackson. It is a wonder Hades did not see it and use you against me as well. But in all of his dark and corrupted heart, you were the one he still cared for in his family of immortals. You are truly a different entity, Daughter of Kronos." I turn to her.
She giggles. "Thank you."
"My pleasure." I bow my head.
"What will you do now?" Athena asks.
I sigh. "A very good question. I never really grew to love the others, though I hold some love ad loyalty for them, especially after what Dark Percy caused. But, that really is not my life. I am immortal, be it that I never anted to be. I will have to find my own way. I have always been inside of myself and dark energy, dependent on my original soul for survival. I have to adjust to the world, unfortunately, and I am curious as to how it really works. Dark Percy's world revolved around Sally, which meant pleasing Hades. So, whatever Hades was going to build was the way he saw the world. I have no real view on most of it other than affronting. I hate pollution. I might start there. Perhaps help the satyrs in their efforts. It would be a nice change of pace, to be perfectly honest." I look up at the sky. "It would seem I took the tolls he was never effected by, idiot." I look back down to find Zeus puzzling over something in his head and then mulling over whatever conclusion he comes to.
"You wish to help the satyrs?" He wonders.
I shrug. "I wish to help the world, that is what they are truly up to. But, yes, that is what I wish to do."
Zeus smiles brightly and I immediately turn wary. "Then, will you accept a gift?"
"What is it?" I ask.
"Godhood." Zeus admits.
"Why?" I implore.
"You are already immortal, stop fussing." Aphrodite laughs.
"Fine. But still, why?" I reply, turning back to Zeus.
"You will see." Zeus chuckles and shoots me with this weird beam of white light, radiating my presence for some odd reason.
I feel it as the domains come over me and stiffen, freezing at the words that leave Zeus's mouth.
"All hail Perseus Jackson, Olympian God of Nature, the Wild, Earth, Humans, Animals, and Mythical Creatures." Zeus smiles proudly. "You also hold the old domains Pan ruled over before he faded."
Oh Olympus.
I look up at my father, who is smiling warmly at me. "I..." I can't finish and Poseidon comes down, hugging me close to him.
"You don't have to say anything." Poseidon chuckles. "This is your new life. Make the best of it and know that I will protect your mother until she passes on."
I nod into his chest and hug him back tightly. I feel at home in his arms, like the child I never got to be. I smile and he freaks out as I start to shrink. I laugh at him and he looks shocked at my appearance.
I am now an eight year old, wearing a long-sleeved brown t-shirt, faded blue jeans, and fallen autumn leaves around my head. A red fox at my side, who's name is Pan, and I am laughing at my father, who is very confused.
"Son?" He asks, his voice shaking.
"New life. I will see you when there is another meeting, but I am going to go meet all the satyrs!" I say the last part excitedly and am bouncing on the balls of my feet. "Bye!" I shout and they all stare at me as I pop out.
Point of View: Third Person
Poseidon turns to Zeus with a tear rolling down his face, surprising the other gods. "Thank you, brother. I have never seen any of my children so happy. And he finally got what he deserved. All he ever wanted, was to live." Poseidon wipes the tear away. "I am going to go home now. I'll see you all next time."
As time goes by, Percy, Light Percy, is able to reverse all the damage and meet every one of his followers. He surprises them all by staying mainly in his younger form like Artemis. Everyone adores him and those that Dark Percy lived with for all those years became his friends. However, he still does not love Annabeth as she still does love him. He marries Artemis after her oath is removed. They have a child once or twice a millennia and the Hunt couldn't be any happier.
Humans didn't return to nature, but they clean up after themselves with the help, not known to them, of many nature spirits and satyrs, demigods and immortals.
And everything is all right.
Just how it should be.
