42 ~ it'll be our end
You stared out of the old window. You couldn't really see much. Apparently, this was a safe house. A place the death eaters didn't know about.
You felt someone sitting down besides you. You turned your head and saw your father. You hadn't spoken to him much. He distant himself from you. Sat down in a separate room most of the time.
You had been here for weeks already. You felt very alone most of the time. You missed Draco, missed your mother, missed your father. You missed your father while he was just in a anther room. You just couldn't talk to him. He didn't want to talk about anything.
You got it. You felt horrible too. You should have helped your mother. Not ran away she could have been safe.. you blamed yourself a little for her death.
Your father pulled you into a hug. You hugged him back. You missed him too. It was like both of your parents were gone. You hated that feeling. You needed your father and he needed you right now. You were planning on being there for him. Even though he distant himself from you.
'You've been distant dad..'
'I know. I'm sorry.'
You let him go and he looked at you.
'You've grown up too fast.' He said. 'I remember when we just got out of the hospital with you.. and now we're here.. Your mother gone, a big war going on out there, good and bad sides.'
'I'm sorry, dad.' You sighed. 'I should have helped mum. I should have seen that Draco would be a problem.. I just.. i didn't.'
'You couldn't have helped her. She was too far behind us.. and Draco.. Draco is a good kid. He's just driven by fear, by his parents. I know what you see in him Y/N. He makes you happy.'
You smiled. You were happy that he understood. He was the one who got you out of that cellar in the first place. He also got you in there.. I guess you were even now.
'Some day he'll make the right choice. I just know it.'
'Are you prepared for when he doesn't?' Your father asked.
You had never thought about it that way. Were you prepared for when he didn't? What if the fear would take over and what if he then chooses the wrong side? He promised you.. but he promised you many things before.
'You haven't, have you?'
You didn't answer. You looked away from your dad.
'It's not that I expect him to do that. I just want you to be prepared for when he does. I'm trying to protect your innocent heart.'
'I know.. I just want to focus on the positive outcome.'
'You have a good heart, Y/N. You've always had it. Ever since you were little. You just keep forgiving and forgiving. Second chances, third chances.. putting yourself above others.. It causes you pain because people use that against you and I don't want any more pain to be caused to you.'
'I know you mean well, dad.' You said. 'I'll watch myself. I just want to help him. I want him to be good. I just want him to not mess up his life.'
'With your help, he will be. I'm sure.'
You smiled a little. You hadn't smiled in awhile. It made your dad smile.
'Let's make mum proud. Let's just go to Hogwarts and let's just.. end this all.'
Your dad didn't quite like that idea judging by his face.
'Why would we do that? We can't risk it Y/N.'
'We have to. We can't just hide. I have to help my friends.'
'It'll be our end, Y/N!'
'But sit here and do nothing?! That's not an option, dad. I won't sit here in this dusty old house waiting for a bloody chance.'
You looked out of the window again. From what you could see, all the muggles weren't worried about anything.
'I'm not risking it.' Your father said.
'We tried ignoring it and where did it get us? One way or another, we're going to be involved.' You said while looking back at him. 'We can wait here until we're captured or fight.'
Your father sighed.
'I already lost your mother.. You already lost your mother. What if something happens?'
'Mum died protecting us. Mum died fighting. If I die.. I want to do fighting, not hiding.'
Your father knew you were right. You saw that he was scared. Of course he was. You were too. It was okay.
'Dad.. it's okay to be scared. I'm too.'
Your father didn't say anything.
'It'll be worth it.' You smiled. 'When voldemort is defeated, we can actually say that we did something.'
'What if something happens to me and you start blaming yourself?' He asked while looking at you.
You didn't quite get what he meant. Your father could see it.
'What if I'll blame myself when something happens to you? We are both blaming ourselves for the death of your mother. I can't even imagine what it must feel like if we would lose someone else.' Your father said.
It was quite understandable what he said.
'It'll all be someone's fault. Not ours. It's the dark sides fault. Voldemort fault.'
'Will you still be able to believe that if something happens?'
'If it even happens.'
'At this point, our chance of dying is greater than our chance of surviving.'
You sighed.
'Dad, don't be so negative! They need our help. I'm not just going to wait around. Even if I have to go alone.'
You got up and grabbed your shoes. You didn't have much stuff here. Just your wand, your shoes and some new clothes your father managed to get you. You put on your shoes and grabbed your coat.
'Y/N.'
Hou walked back into the living room. Your father got up and grabbed his wand.
'I'll go with you.'
