Lana's Pov
All of a sudden I felt a huge drop in my chest, my heart pounding in fear like I saw a ghost, I wanted to keep calm but I couldn't, my hands became slippery with sweat and then Steve walks in......took a look at me and obviously could see I wasn't feeling so good "Lana are you ok? You look flushed, should I call a doctor?"...... I told him not to worry about me, I lied that I did some crunches and it's something I do every night before I go to bed to keep my body in shape.
He wasn't so convinced so he came closer to me and placed his hands on my cheek and forehead to check my body temperature " Are you sure you're ok? You don't look so good, I'm a bit worried"
I had to convince him that I'm fine even if I knew I wasn't, he was skeptical but he gave me the benefit of the doubt and then I asked him to excuse me for a sometime so I can freshen up and get ready to sleep, the moment he stepped out, I took one more look at the ghastly thing, it looked innocent but it brings back a lot of unwanted memories. I was in the bathroom and as the shower rained from my head to my feet I wished it could drain all my worries and cares away, why did I even go snooping around?
I got out of the shower and on the bed I saw a very big shirt and shorts, obviously Steve put them there for me to wear and my clothes were gone, I wore the shirt and shorts and I felt like an ant in a potato sack but they were quite comfy and very soft. Steve knocked and I permitted him to come in which he did, I thanked him for the comfy clothes and asked for mine because they were not where I kept them, then he said he gave them to Matilda to wash so they'll be fresh and clean for me to wear, he's such a sweet guy.
"So....... you seem all better now, you got me really worried" he said with so much concern and then again I assured him that all was well and there's nothing wrong and I heard another knock on the door, it was Matilda, she brought us both warm milk, he had her prepare it to make me feel better, he's so caring, after consuming the whole glass, I felt so sleepy, we were together on his bed all cuddled up, he noticed I was dozing off and gave a kiss on my forehead and bid me goodnight, I felt so loved and cherished, could this be that I've found the one? I never felt this safe and happy before and I wasn't going to let anything ruin it.

And all of a sudden I saw myself in my dorm room, on my bed with blood stains on the sheets and my hands, I screamed out loud and I woke up.....It was a nightmare, it creeped me out, I had goosebumps all over, turned to my side and there was Steve sleeping like a baby, a very cute baby, it was past 3am, I don't know why but somehow I felt I understood the dream I had.

I'm done letting my past haunt me, I have a new life now and I'm going to be happy and everything will be fine again. I have a successful career and people who love and care about me, I can't continue to let my past judge me. I just wish mum and Dad were alive, I lost my parents in a motor accident when I was 16, I had to live with my grandma, though she lived few blocks away from my parents house and she passed away four years later, I was in college then, I've been all on my own since, Diane was the only one I had, she's like a sister to me, she is a sister to me.
I'm going to make every moment count, I'm not going to live in fear anymore, time to put the past in the past, I took a look at Steve and I felt like I had it all and nothing could go wrong from here on out and then right there a wave of peaceful sleep swept over me.
