Jack POV
I found Elsa in the woods standing over Hades who had cuffs on his wrists and a bullet through his leg. We had won. She turned to me and through her complete exhaustion, forced a small smile. She really was back to being the Elsa we all knew. The Elsa I loved.
"Go get her." Punzie teased, gently nudging me towards her. Two of our agents came and took Hades away. I walked over to Elsa, feeling my heart pounding in my chest.
"Hey," I spoke softly, the battle we had just fought still hanging over our heads.
"Hey." We hadn't had time to talk yet and I wasn't sure what all I wanted to say. "I'm sorry." Tears welled up in her eyes and I could tell she had been pushing away her emotions so she could focus. I wrapped my arms around her. I could feel her tears soaking through my shirt but I didn't care. It felt so right to have her back in my arms. When she finally let go I looked into her eyes. For the first time in forever, they were her eyes.
"I'm glad you're back," I whispered with a smile. I leaned in and she met me halfway in the best kiss I had ever had. All of my thoughts about moving on completely disappeared as I remembered how much I loved this girl. It was finally our time.
A cheer from our friends reminded us that we weren't the only two people in the world. I pulled away before we turned to our friends.
"We need to go check on the damages," Elsa remembered but there was something even heavier behind her words. We had to go find Hiccup. Or what was left of him.
A pit formed in my stomach at the thought of me being happy with Elsa while my best friend was dead. I took her hand as we made our way back to where the van had blown up. Merida looked like she was going to throw up. Astrid helped her stay steady while Kristoff helped me lift some of the debris out of the way. Rapunzel knelt down to help us while Elsa and Anna checked around the area for any signs of him.
"Wait!" Punzie shrieked pulling all of the attention to her. She started frantically pulling pieces of metal and wood, tossing them out of the way. We ran over to help her and Hiccup was laying in front of us, a little burnt, unconscious but alive.
"Mer!" I called out and she rushed over crouching down beside us.
"God, if he makes it through this alive I'm going to kill him for scaring me like that," Merida growled though I could see the relief in her eyes. Elsa and Astrid ran to get a medic to help us get Hiccup out of the pile and safely inside. Rapunzel began to check over his vitals and check for any major damage.
"Oh God," Kristoff mumbled before looking away as Rapunzel unburied Hiccups legs...well leg.
"He's going to be okay," Rapunzel assured Merida, covering up the injury to keep her from worrying too much.
"Not all of him" Kristoff mumbled as Anna slapped him. "Sorry."
Astrid came back with a few doctors who helped load Hiccup onto a stretcher. I looked past her to see Elsa taking charge and surveying the damages. I was still in awe of everything that happened.
"Jack, you should go get that looked at. You've already risked infection and it needs to be treated before it gets any worse." Rapunzel pulled my attention away from Elsa.
"You should go check on Eugene." I countered.
"Come on, we'll go together." She smiled guiding my arm around her shoulder so she could support me.
"So now that the fight is over, what comes next?"
Anna and Kristoff were holding onto each other, foreheads together with the smallest hints of smiles on their faces. Merida and Astrid were at Hiccup's side. Merida was clearly relieved he was alive, as we all were. I looked back at Elsa. She was back to her old self, the powerful, strong, beautiful woman I fell in love with. We still had a lot to talk about but I knew we were ready to face the world together.
She glanced up, catching me staring. She smiled, a slight blush appearing on her cheeks that I'm sure matched my own. It was a fleeting moment but it was enough to know exactly how to answer the question.
"The rest of our lives."
