Chapter 2 | Reflection.

Warning: Mentions of murder and swearing.

***

As he watched (Y/N) wander upstairs, Deceit hissed quietly to himself in annoyance. After all the relentless arguing and screaming, the room was eerily quiet now that he was alone but the atmosphere was just as tense. No matter how much Deceit tried to deny it, he was worried about what would come from this whole Remus situation. Whether that be for (Y/N)'s well being or for his own lifelong secrets to be revealed, he didn't know.

It was probably a mix of both.

While this issue made him very unsettled, there was one thing he knew for sure. Remus was bad news, no matter what he had to say. You could never tell what his intentions were and Deceit wanted to keep his significant other safe. There was no way he was letting that ratman near (P/P) if Deceit could help up. Just imagining Remus' idiocy freaking out (Y/N) and causing to get depressed again.

Yeah, over his dead body.

Deceit decided to head back outside instead of standing idly in the kitchen. He slowly pushed through the door, walking back out onto the steps. Roman and Virgil were still on the stairs but Roman was pretty much incapacitated drunk on Virgil's shoulder who seemed kinda tense. When he heard the door open, he quickly looked over his shoulder at Deceit, noticing (Y/N) not being with him.

"Where's (Y/N)? Did you do something?" He questioned, glaring with obvious distrustful at snake like trait. Deceit sighed at his concern. It was clear that even after all this time and all the change he went through Virgil didn't trust him fully. Deceit really couldn't blame him though, their history spoke for itself and gave Virgil every reason not to trust or believe him.

Even besides that though, Virgil was naturally protective by nature and with how close he and (Y/N) were, it wasn't unheard of for Virgil not to trust him with (P/P). Deceit held his gloved hands out, gesturing for him to calm down. "Relaxxxxssss Virgil, I didn't do anything. Y/N is just lying down upstairs cause P/P got a headache." Walking over, he plopped down on the stairs beside Virgil.

Virgil narrowed his eyes at him, clearly not believing him. "That isn't true and you know it, what's really going on?" Virgil asked, tilting his head a little. Deceit considered taking this discussion somewhere private but he then realized Virgil wouldn't go anywhere alone with him or leave his dumbass drunk boyfriend by himself. So he supposed they'd have to stay on the steps.

Whatever, Roman was probably too drunk to really remember their conversation in the morning anyway even if he was right there. Deceit took in a deep breath, unsure of how exactly he was supposed to word this. "Remus was trying to talk to (Y/N)." He said simply. Virgil's eyes widened at him, throwing his eyebrows up and down as he slowly processed the comment.

All pieces suddenly seemed to click in Virgil's mind from the simple vague comment. "So that's what that yelling was about. God, that guy is irritating. Honestly, I'm not even surprised anymore. Since he appeared in that video, he hasn't left us alone. He's constantly showing up. And I mean, constantly." Virgil rolled his eyes as he complained, annoyance very clearly shown in his voice.

Deceit paused for a moment, studying Virgil's expression. He needed to know if Remus had approached anyone else in private and figured Virgil would be a good person to ask considering he was right there and would understand the seriousness of it. "Has he said anything specifically to you recently?" As soon as Deceit asked, Virgil seemed to space out, staring at nothing.

It was if he was reliving a memory.

It was the middle of the night, not a single soul was awake. Well, except for Virgil, who was lying down in Roman's bed with Snow White on the tv and his boyfriend flopped onto his chest, arms wrapped tightly the anxious trait. Normally, Virgil would enjoy the comforting embrace and hug back but he really needed to wipe his makeup off so he didn't damage his skin by sleeping in it.

You see, Roman and Virgil had stayed up late watching movies that night, cuddling as usual. But Roman had fallen asleep halfway through Snow White so now Virgil was vaguely trapped. He was slowly slipping out the cuddle despite his sleepy protests, avoiding waking the prince up. When he finally got out of the bed, Roman whined, now cuddling into the sheets. He really was a light sleeper.

Virgil sighed quietly in relief, thankful he hadn't woken him up. He, as silently as a mouse, tiptoed into Roman's en suite, leaving the door open a crack so it wouldn't creak too loudly. He didn't turn the light on, simply turning the flashlight on his phone and aiming it at the ceiling. He opened the cabinet, that doubled as a mirror, and pulled out some makeup wipes. Between these tasks, he didn't hear someone appear behind him.

He wiped his eyeshadow off, needing three wipes to get it all off. Since he wasn't in his room, he had to apply his make up manually instead of having it just appear. Virgil turned on the tap, bending down and splashing water in his face to unclog his pores. As he looked back up at his mirror, his eyes widened when he saw Remus, leaning with his back against the door. "He's asleep, he's vulnerable."

He spoke, a twistedly joyful voice for what he seemed to be getting at. But hey, Remus could suggest eating a rat in a sickeningly sweet way if he tried. "Remus." Virgil simply responded through his tightly gritted teeth, his shock subsiding into anger as he glared at the trait through the mirror. Virgil could only assume that he was referring Roman which only served to make Virgil madder.

Remus was simply staring at his green lesbian lizard type nails, not looking up to meet Virgil's eyes, no even through the mirror. He spoke, smirk obvious through his words and voice. "There would be no one around to stop you. You could do it without anyone knowing." As he spoke, he slowly approached Virgil behind and placed his greasy hands firmly on the anxious trait, much to his unfiltered disgust.

"Do what?" Virgil asked though he could already make a pretty good guess. Remus leaned against his hands and Virgil could hear the smirk in his eyes. "You know, stab your boy toy and leave him to bleed to death in his sleep." Virgil couldn't help but grimace at the thought. Virgil shrugged his gross hands off his shoulders, pushing past him to face the door. He sighed, rubbing his hands over his tired eyes.

Remus smirked before walking over to the sink and jumping up onto the counter, crossing his legs. Virgil spoke tiredly and exasperatingly. "Remus, even if, in some twisted world, I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be able to kill him. He can't die unless Thomas dies or he fades." Virgil explained though he knew Remus was aware of all of this. He was most likely only doing it to get a reaction out of him.

Still, it seemed... odd.

Remus pointed at Virgil as if he made a brilliant discovery. "Ah-ha! So you've thought about it?" At the comment, Virgil rolled his eyes scoffed. He refused to dignify the taunt with a response. Still, he buried his hand into a fist. Remus really was beginning to push him too far. One wrong move from Remus and Virgil was going to hit a bitch without hesitation. He held no mercy for dumb hoes.

Still, Remus remained cocky as ever, leaning against the mirror. "Admit it, butthole. Despite your best efforts, you never stopped being the bad guy." That was the final straw. Virgil pulled his fist back, spinning around and swung his fist, only to see Remus had vanished. His fist collided with the mirror, causing it to shatter around his hand and his fist to bleed. His eyes widened at the sudden pain.

He reeled his injured hand back, holding to his chest. "Ow." He winced in pain, looking down at his now bleeding hand, a few tears spilling out of his eyes. It stung and the blood coupled with the glass shards sticking out it made feel like he was about to faint. He glanced back at the mirror, seeing his own reflection in the shattered glass. He gulped as a slight panic set in.

How was he was going to patch up his hand and the bathroom mirror before Roman woke up?

Realizing he had spaced out while reliving the memory, he blinked before simply deciding not to respond to the question. "I'd rather not talk about it." He said simply, reaching down and grabbing his drink. He quickly took a sip before placing it back down on the stairs. Deceit could see that a memory had come to Virgil's mind but choose not to press him for details.

They continued to sit on stairs, not really talking to each other since they honestly had too much bad blood between them to have a normal one on one conversation. They simply watched the others hang out and talk, with the occasional drunk blabbering from Roman who seemed a little more awake now. Eventually, the tense awkwardness got a bit too much for Deceit and he went back inside.

He rubbed the tired out of the eyes. He glanced up the stairs. He wondered if (P/P) were ok. What if (P/P) was scared? Or confused about the whole Remus thing? Deceit was a good enough boyfriend to know better than to leave (Y/N) alone for too long with only (P/P) thoughts. Deceit huffed before giving into his worry and heading upstairs to check on      (Y/N).

I hadn't really noticed how long I had remained in a fetal position under my warm bed covers, overwhelmed with my own thoughts to move. I honestly hadn't been such a mix of confusion and anxiety since I was eight years old. My door slowly opened, scaring me a little before I saw it was just Deceit. He peered through the crack in the door, looking at me with concern. "Hey (Y/N)... you feeling any better?"

I squinted at him for a while, almost processing what he was saying. He shuffled awkwardly under my gaze, patiently awaiting my reply. When I understood exactly what he meant, I shrugged. "Kinda." No. I wasn't. I felt absolutely awful. My thoughts were running wild and I couldn't focus on any one thing. I just didn't want to tell him that since I didn't want him to worry.

I honestly should've known better than to try to lie to him for obvious reasons. He sighed quietly to himself before giving me a small loving smile that never failed to make my heart skip a beat, even in the state I was in. "You want a hug?" I nodded weakly. He held his arms out. After a minute or so, I managed to lug myself out of bed and across the room, practically throwing myself into his arms.

I just kinda face planted into his chest. He chuckled lightly. I nuzzled my face into his chest, a small tired smile slipping onto my face. At least for a moment, I forgot the troubling thoughts had previously ruled my head and I could just exist in my boyfriend's arms. Still, I was super cold even in Deceit's normally warm embrace. "Dee Dee?" He hummed questioningly.

"Can we go to your room? It's warmer there." Well obviously. He lived in a fucking volcano for god's sake. For some strange reason. Deceit sweetly smiled at me. "Of course." He answered kindly. He carefully sunk down, taking me with him. Immediately I felt warmer when we rose up in his room. I pulled him over to his bed, weakly pushing him down onto his bed.

I flopped down on top of him, immediately wrapping my arms around him. Deceit pulled the covers over us before returning to the hug. I cuddled as close to him as I could, not wanting to let him go so we could stay there forever. I could honestly say that I was at my happiest when I was with him. Like I could forget all my troubles and worries with a single hug.

"I love you so much." He whispered quietly. At his words, I grinned like I was a little excited child all over again. It had been months since we exchanged I love you's for the first time but it still made me really giddy. To know I was loved and appreciated made my heart go uwu. "I wuv youuu tooo." I mumbled quietly into his chest, causing him to chuckle softly and hugged me tighter.

Anyone else really like writing/reading interactations between Virgil and Remus? They're really interesting to me.
