(No) Truth Six ; I don't know
The tension in the atmosphere only grew as the words left Hoseok's heart shaped lips, Yoongi gulping.
"Honestly, I don't know," it was a lie, to Yoongi's body atleast. He did know why he stopped contacting Hoseok, but he didn't know how to form it into proper words. The hiss that emitted from Yoongi's pursed lips was enough to tell Hoseok that he was lying.
"Just tell me the truth, Hyung," there it was again, the formality; though this time Yoongi turned to glare at Hoseok, "you've already hurt me enough, might as well just tell the truth."
Yoongi felt his heart break little by little, he didn't want to hurt Hoseok, he didn't mean to hurt him, but that's what he ended up doing. Though Yoongi was beginning to grow upset, because Hoseok isn't the only one who's hurt. Hoseok doesn't know that Yoongi is aware of certain details that happened while they were seperated, details he didn't want Yoongi to know.
He took a deep breath, looking at Hoseok and saying, with complete honesty, "I was afraid."
"What?-" Hoseok began, only to be interrupted by Yoongi.
"I was afraid you didn't love me anymore, scared that you never wanted to see my face again," Yoongi confesses as he stares down at his lap, when he makes eye contact with Hoseok again, he says, "and from this conversation it sure feels like it."
Hoseok furrowed his eyebrows, genuinely confused, why would Yoongi think this way? This question his mind yelled at him pushed him to state, "Our break up was mutual, why would-"
"You think that," he heard Yoongi mutter under his breath, which resulted in Hoseok raising an eyebrow.
He scoffed, "our break up was mutual, Yoongi, I don't understand why you're acting so pissy about it."
"Because our break up wasn't mutual, you gave up, I could sense you weren't happy so I agreed. No one said I was ever okay with the decision," the elder male stated, his voice holding a harsh tone.
Hoseok scoffed, "What do you mean I gave up? I didn't-"
"Yes, you did," Yoongi interrupts, the male now sitting up in his seat and glaring at the younger male, "when things started to get hard, you gave up on us. You were so busy with college and everything that you didn't notice how badly I was holding on to you. And now you're here all hurt in front of me because of a decision you made that led to my accident." By the end of it, Yoongi's voice had a certain sound to it that made Hoseok's heart rip in two.
It sounded like he wanted to cry but was holding himself back from doing so, as if there was a lump just stuck in his throat. When Yoongi composed himself, he added, "I know we were both busy and we both had a lot going on, but you turned your back on me after you proposed we break up; that hurt Hoseok, a whole fucking lot. I agreed because you said it would be best, you didn't get a cut when you said it, so I trusted you."
Before Hoseok could say anything to Yoongi, the waitress came back with their food. This time, she made sure to leave as fast as she could. She didn't get paid enough to be suffocted by others tension.
Hoseok didn't even start eating, he was only thinking about everything Yoongi had just said. Everything he said without getting a cut because he was speaking the truth. Things were getting hard for them when they both entered college and Hoseok was extremely busy a lot of the time, but he never realized that he turned his back on Yoongi. Yes, he was the one that suggested them breaking up, but Yoongi didn't oppose it when he did.
They didn't even end things in person, it was over the damn phone.
"You never opposed," Hoseok finally spoke after moments of them just sitting there, "you never said, 'Hoseok, this may be a bad idea', yet you want to pin it on me? You want to blame me for the dumb descion you made."
"I'm not blaming you, it might seem like it but i'm not. You're blaming me," Yoongi pointed an accusing finger at Hoseok, "you say how I never contacted you, you never contacted me either, Hoseok!" the elder had to keep himself from yelling, his voice octaves away from it.
Hoseok rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest in a defensive manner, "You changed your number-"
"Because of my job!" Yoongi interrupted him, "People had my number who shouldn't have, so I changed it, you act like I remembered people's numbers! What, did you think I changed it to avoid you?"
Hoseok stayed quiet, averting his gaze away from the elder male. This had Yoongi gawking at him.
"Hoseok," he began softly, "you thought I changed my number to avoid you?"
The younger just clenched his jaw, not answering the question because he knew Yoongi realized that, yes, he did. "You could've gotten my number from one of the guys, or social media-"
"And that's the same for you, you easily could've gotten my number again but you didn't. So stop just blaming me when you could've contacted me too," Yoongi stuffed a bread roll in his mouth after he finished his statement, he was hungry from all the talking they were doing.
More like arguing.
Hoseok sighed as he glanced at Yoongi's watch, when he read the time his eyes widened tenfold and he quickly got up from where he was sitting down.
His next appointment was at 4:15 and it was already 4:05, it took ten mintues for him to walk back to the office. Which didn't leave him anytime to compose himself.
"Shit, shit, shit," he mumbled as he grabbed his coat, taking out a 50 and throwing it on the table. Yoongi gave him a confused look.
"What happened?"
"I'm going to be late!" Hoseok seethed, about to run to the door.
Yoongi followed him, "let me drive you, you'll-"
"No," Hoseok interrupted him, "I'd rather you not."
The elder rolled his eyes, not saying anything else pertaining to that topic though. Once Hoseok was ready to sprint down the sidewalk, Yoongi said something that had his heart stopping in his chest.
"You know, atleast I didn't have a boyfriend for two years after we broke up; unlike you."
