Chapter 1

Victoria Grace "Tory" Brennan is helping her stepmother Whitney Rose DuBois find her garter for her wedding. Tory contacts the boys via telepathy and Benjamin "Ben" Blue finds it. He goes to the room where Tory and Whitney are and gives Whitney the garter. Tory and Ben embrace before Hiram Moshe "Hi" Stolowikski tells them there's a problem downstairs.

Chapter 2

Tory, Ben, Hi, and Shelton Devers find that the flowers in the reception hall are dead. Tory orders Hi to clean up the dead flowers and Shelton to get Tory's grandmother, Harriet "Harry" Brennan, and great-aunt, Dr. Temperence "Tempe" Brennan. Tory and Hi find that the flowers were put in "weed killer." Shelton comes back with Harry and Tempe and Harry is horrified. Tempe tells Tory that Ben was sent to inform Christopher "Kit" Howard and that they can use the flowers in the botanical garden as replacements.

Tempe and Hi announces that everything is ready and thinks that the flowers were purposefully put in weed killer.

Chapter 3

Tory walks down the aisle to the wooden altar to stand beside Ben, Shelton, and Hi. The priest is Dr. Allen, who flew in from Chicago via Eric DuBois, Whitney DuBois's brother's, request. As Tory is standing by her friends, they hear a scraping sound as Whitney approaches the altar. Tory yells at everyone to get off and Ben finds that two screws are loose. He puts them back in place and ceremony continues. Whitney is then officially part of the Howard family.

Chapter 4

At the reception, Tory sits with Tempe, Harry, some of Whitney's family, and Ben. The meal consists of lobster bisque, salads and filet mignons, and coffee. Then the orchestra plays and it's time to dance. Chance Claybourne and Ella Francis ask Tory and Ben to dance and Ben dances with Ella and Tory dances with Chance. Chance and Tory talk about the Viral antidote before the song ends. Chance and Ella leave and then Tory and Ben dance.

Chapter 5

Tory is sitting outside on a bench where her wolfdog, Cooper "Coop", approaches her. Cooper has been in hiding since the ceremony. Tory gives Coop a piece of filet mignon for him. Tory finds a scratch on Cooper and the dog telepathically tells her (in other words) it was from Hi's cat Banjo. The other boys join Tory as they talk about song requests. Hi and Cooper telepathically fight briefly before they see a man in a white chef's hat enter the ballroom. Tory, Hi, Shelton, and Ben go inside while Cooper guards the entrance. They follow the man (named "Biggs") into the kitchen where he is applying chocolate frosting to the cake. The band catch him and Biggs escapes. Then the actual chefs come in and take the cake away. Tory orders Shelton to chase down Biggs and Hi to keep watch on the cake. Tory's instincts scream that Biggs is a killer.

Chapter 6

Shelton has followed Biggs to the men's restroom and Hi followed the cake to the ballroom. Tory and Ben find that whatever Biggs wrote down, he erased. Ben finds a pencil and Tory uses it to read what the paper said. It says "-Two parts per thousand into the icing -Ipecac commercial syrup - 1/14 extract roots/rhizomes". Shelton now has Biggs trapped in the men's restroom and Hi sees that pictures are taken and the cake is going to be cut.

Chapter 7

Hi gets in front of the cake and Kit scolds him. Whitney sees that her cake is ruined and Eric blames Hi. Tory then blurts out that the cake is poisoned. Kit hisses at her and the band show him and Captain Carmine Concoran, who was guarding the wedding ceremony, the evidence. He thinks the kids are lying until he reads the note and Eric says that someone spiked the cake. Hi says that ipecac is not poison, but Tory says that ipecac syrup is not used anymore because of it's side effects. Tempe agrees with Tory. Concoran says that Biggs is a murderer and Whitney is horrified. Carmine and two of his officer go with Shelton to find Biggs and Tory realizes that Biggs had an accomplice with him. The band thinks it's Dr. Mike Iglehart, a LIRI employee, who wanted to ruin Kit's wedding. Kit accuses Iglehart of crashing his wedding before Mike leaves and Shelton comes back. He says that the frosting with thrown away and Tory realizes that someone put ipecac syrup and a notepad inside the kitchen. Tory then calls Cooper to find the ipecac syrup.

Chapter 8

Carmine and his officers get nothing from Biggs and everyone is watching. They think Tory and her friends are still lying when Cooper bursts into the ballroom. Chaos ensues. Whitney and Kit chastise Tory and Tory calms them as Shelton and other go inside (with the nearly-empty frosting bowl). Tory lets Cooper smell it and the wolfdog checks Mike first before finding Agnes Taylor, Jason Taylor's mother's, purse, which has the ipecac syrup in it. Agnes says that the syrup (which is from Bolton Prepatory Academy and "expired in 2009, FYI.") was put into her purse accidentally, to which the band thinks is a lie. Tory, Jason Taylor, and Carmine demand to know who Biggs really is, but he refuses. Agnes then pleads guilty to a prank and Tempe says that "An overdose of ipecac syrup can kill." Agnes then publicly roasts/humiliates Whitney by calling her "A silly naïve girl from the wrong branch of the DuBois tree". She also says it because the Mag League is having a presidential election soon and Agnes calls Whitney's family a disgrace to Charleston. Also, she planned Tory to be Jason's girlfriend and that Madison Dunkle, Jason's girlfriend, is spoiled. Tory demands that Agnes leaves and Mr. Taylor, Jason's father agrees. Carmine doesn't let them. Whitney then tell Agnes she will no longer be part of the Mag League and Agnes and Mr. Taylor leave. The killers are Jimmy/"Biggs" and Agnes.

Chapter 9

The reception is back on and people are having fun. But Tory is looking for Ben, who ran off during Agnes's roasting. Chance finds Tory for a second before the rest find Tory. Ben then comes running back to reception with cupcakes, since the cake was poisoned. Hi and Shelton walk away as Ben tells Tory he's going to The Citadel Cadet Academy. Tory is shocked and Ben says he'll like it. They both embrace.
