Part One: The Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics

Chapter 1: Initial Conditions

Doctor Althea Bastet (age 34) is working with Domitian when she sees that someone snuck aboard the Ananke, Althea's ship, via cameras in the docking bay. She is ordered by Domitian to get weapons from the armory and Althea gets a gun. She then finds 32-year-old Leontios "Ivan" Ivanov (unnamed) in the data banks and arrests him. Domitian comes back with 32-year-old Matthew "Mattie" Gale (unnamed) arrested.

Leontios and Matthew are put in separate rooms; Ivan in a prison cell and Mattie in the storage closet. Althea explains to Gagnon, another crew member, how Mattie and Iva hacked their way into the ship. Althea finds Domitian in the docking bay, staring at Ivan and Mattie's ship, the Annwn. Althea tells Domitian that Ananke's intruders are Leontios Ivanov and Matthew Gale, that they work with Abigail "Abby" Hunter, and that they are terrorists. As Gagnon and Domitian do a ship sweep, she also finds that Mattie is an escape artist in the control room. She tries to warn the men about Mattie, but Mattie has escaped and is trying to break Ivan out. The Ananke suddenly shuts down.

As the Ananke waked up, Althea finds that Mattie has escaped into the maintenance shafts and launched an escape pod with himself in it. Althea goes to Ivan's cell and asks Ivan for his shoes and he reluctantly gives them to her. it is to check for any other lock-pickers.

A message has been given to the Ananke by Ida Stays, a "System Intelligence Agency" worker. She asks to get on board and Ananke's crew allows it as they discuss how Mattie and Ivan got in and what are their intentions.

Part Two: The First Law of Thermodynamics

Chapter 2: Pressure

Ida Stays boards the Ananke, hoping to get information about the "Mallt-y-Nos" terrorist. She is greeted by Gagnon and is told that Mattie died in the maintenance shafts.

Althea is guarding Ivan's cell.

Domitian makes it to the docking bay and Ida lectures him on why Matthew and Ivan need to be interrogated. Domitian then leads Ida to her room on the Ananke.

Althea is guarding Ivan's cell when she gets annoyed by his tapping and he starts reading her personal information.

Ida finds the interrogation room and sets up a polygraph next to the interrogation table and an interrogation camera. Domitian leads Ivan into the interrogation room and Ida begins questioning him.

As Althea guards Ivan's empty cell, she hears something unusual in the ship.

Ivan claims to have no idea about the Mallt-y-Nos and Ida and Domitian hook him up to the polygraph (they have to take off Ivan's shirt for it).

Gagnon comms Althea from the control room and says that Althea has to dismantle the Annwn's computer.

Ida questions Ivan in the interrogation room. Ivan's full name is "Leontios Dana Ivanov"; his parents are Doctor Milla Ivanov nee and Connor Ivanov; and was born in "New York, New York, Earth".

Domitian, Gagnon, and Althea find that Mattie and Ivan's virus is making the Ananke learn words. Althea turns the ship's power off.

Ida asks Ivan about the dwarf planet Eris and that Abigail Hunter is Mattie's foster sister. Ivan and Mattie took commissions from Abby.

Althea is taking apart the Annwn when she goes back to the control room, where the Ananke is measuring the pressure, temperature, volume, and particle number. It suddenly spirals out of control before she puts facial recognition into the computer and comes up with no results.

Ivan and Ida are still talking about Eris and about the attack on Eris. Ivan tries to use snide comments to talk back to Ida.

Chapter 3: Temperature

The next day, Ida wakes up and watched some footage about Ivan and Mattie's heists before shutting it down.

Althea is working on the Ananke when Ida Stays approaches her and orders her to work on the Annwn. Althea works on the Ananke before working on the Annwn.

Ida interrogates Ivan about Ganymede "Two years ago ... March." Ivan says that he and Mattie steal luxury items, but not necessities.

Althea is done fixing Ananke when the ship tells her the pressure, temperature, volume, and particle number again. The ship goes nuts again, playing footage about Mattie and Ivan when Althea shuts the computers off. Gagnon and Domitian comm Althea and tells her something's in the kitchen pantry.

Ida questions Ivan about the heist on Ceres two times.

The problem in the pantry is the robotic arm used to grab food. It tries to kill Althea, Gagnon, and Domitian before Althea switches the arm off.

Ivan is sent back to his cell and Ida makes a list of names connected to the Mallt-y-Nos. Domitian and Ida assess Ivan before going back to work.

Gagnon tells Althea to sleep, but Althea needs some time to talk to Ivan. She talks to him about the Annwn and Ivan asks her about the Ananke.

Chapter 4: Volume

The next day, Ida askes Ivan about names related to the Mallt-y-Nos, starting with Milla Ivanov and Constance Harper.

Althea wakes up and realizes that Gagnon didn't wake her. She changes into her work clothes.

Althea meets Gagnon in the control and Annwn's computer isn't working.

Ivan tells Ida about Constance, and how she follows the System.

The Annwn goes hysterical and Althea tries to talk to it and gets some access into it. She finds files on data bombs (how to erase a computer's existence), how to screw System software, and software to trigger bombs.

Ida questions Ivan on how Ivan met Mattie. Also Mattie's allies are "Adina ... River. Charles. Nora. Ling. Farrah. ... Anji, Christoph, Abby." Ida, angered, finds Gagnon and tells him to guard him without speaking a word.

Ida walks to the control room and orders Althea to give her information on files on the Annwn. She gives her info on the bomb codes that there could be bombs on the Ananke. Althea then demands that Ivan stay on board for the safety of the ship.

Ida returns to the interrogation room and asks Ivan about Abigail Hunter.

Althea tells Domitian that Ivan could influence the Ananke's computer and begins working on the ship. Gagnon texts Althea that he disturbed his sleep and Althea texts Gagnon to go sleep.

Domitian leads Ivan back to his cell and Althea guards Ivan's cell that night. A few hours later, she gets a message that the Mallt-y-Nos led a revolt on Titania.

Ida is waken up by Domitian, who tells her about the Titania rebellion. Ida watches footage of the rebellion and decides to keep Ivan on board for safety reasons.

Chapter 5: Particle Number

Ida tells Ivan about the Titania revolt the next morning.

Althea finds out that Constance and Milla are coming to the Ananke. She goes to guard Ivan's cell and finds out that he went to the North American branch of Terran University, while Althea went to the Australian branch. Their graduation classes overlapped, Ivan graduated ten years ago, while Althea graduated twelve years ago. Also, Althea is from Luna/the moon. They talk about their home planets.

Ida tells Domitian that Milla arrives first and Constance second.

Gagnon has figured out that Althea despises Ida and has been talking to Ivan.

The Ananke's alarm goes off as Milla's ship board. Milla is led to the interrogation room as Ida questions about Ivan's troubled past.

Althea watches Domitian guard Ivan in the interrogation before turning the camera off.

Milla talks to Ivan about how they're doing before Milla leaves.

As Constance's ship board the Ananke, Milla warns Althea that the System doesn't care about broken ships or the ship's crew.

Ida leads Constance out of her ship, the Janus, and Milla leaves the Ananke.

Ida leads Constance to the interrogation room.

Althea tries to warn Gagnon and Domitian, but can't put the words together herself. She heads to the control room and tells the men about the revolts on Titania and Galatea.

In the interrogation room, Constance breaks up with Ivan and leaves in fury. As Constance leaves, the Ananke's alarms go off again and Ivan is bitter with Ida. Ida leaves the room.

Alone, Ivan calls out to Mattie, but gets no response.

Part Three: The Second Law of Thermodynamics

Chapter 6: An Isolated System (or Maxwell's Demon)

Ananke watches everything that happens through her cameras.

Ida questions Ivan about the events on Ganymede again. The lights go on and off during the investigation and Ida threatens to have Althea imprisoned if the problem continues.

As Ananke spirals out of the control, Althea asks Ivan to help her in the investigation room. Ivan tries to take Ananke from Althea, but is interrupted by Domitian who tells her to get to the control room. He needs a time frame when Ananke will be fixed and Althea needs time.

Ananke watches Althea gets weapons from the armory and head to the interrogation room.

Althea tells Ivan that Ananke is used for experiments dealing with solar system elements, also with the law of entropy. She looses Ivan's chians as he tells her that the Annwn was programmed to react to different stimuli and that Mattie's virus can turn ships into breathing, intelligent life forms.

Ananke watches Althea try to communicate with her and Ananke responds through the computers.

Chapter 7: Black Hole Entropy

After an hour-and-a-half, Gagnon and Domitian decide to turn off Ananke. Althea uses the robotic arc from the pantry to defend herself from Ananke's black hole heart.

Gagnon and Domitian catch up with Althea at the black hole and Althea tries to defend her ship, saying the Ivan's virus makes computers alive.

Ida tries to figure out the connection between Ivan and the other people.

Althea tries to prove that Ananke is alive, but barely proves it.

Ananke watches Gagnon get into the ventilation system to turn off the switch.

Domitian thinks Althea is crazy.

Gagnon makes it to the vent entrance to the switch.

Domitian tries to reason with Althea, but she refuses.

Ida watches footage to find who's the Mallt-y-Nos.

Ananke tries to warn Althea about Gagnon.

Ida tells Ivan that she figured out that Constance Harper is the Mallt-y-Nos/Abigail Hunter. In retaliation for everything she's done, Ivan uses Althea's box cutter knife to kill Ida. He then devises a fake escape route for Ananke's crew to follow and escapes for real out of the interrogation room.

Gagnon gets sucked into Ananke's black hole heart. Domitian says that Ananke is too dangerous.

Part Four: The Third Law of Thermodynamics

Chapter 8: Constants

Ananke tells Althea that Ida is in interrogation and when Domitian and Althea get there, Ida is dead. Domitian goes after Ivan in the maintenece shafts while Ananke tells Althea that Ivan is on the docking level.

Ananke watches Domitian figure out Ivan's trap.

Althea finds Ivan in the docking bay, arrests him, and shoots him in the thigh.

Ananke watches Ivan wake up in the interrogation room again, but with Domitian playing the role of Ida.

Althea realizes that Ananke can see everything in the ship.

Domitian begins to interrogate Ivan.

Ananke and Althea fight about self-defense and attacking.

Ivan tells Domitian that he killed Ida because "Ida Stays was a sociopath" and that "Scheherazde" was a code for Ivan to stay until Matte found him. Althea then bursts into the room to alert Domitian of breaking news.

Althea drags Domitian to the control room and Constance Harper is broadcasting herself. Her message is: "People of the System ... slaves of the System, I am the Mallt-y-Nos. A few minutes ago, I and my people liberated us all from the System by destroying its source. For so long the System destroyed your planets and destroyed your people. Earth was a symbol of oppression and control. It will be no longer. The System is dead. Let freedom reign."

Chapter 9: Degeneracy

Domitian bursts back into the interrogation room and Ivan realizes that Constance has bombed Earth. Ivan says that Constance blew up Earth because the System bombed Uranus' moons, "Saturn, Haumea, Oberon." Domitian leaves in fury and Althea guards Ivan.

Ananke watches Domitian put Ida Stays' corpse in her room on the ship.

Ivan wants Althea to listen to him, but they end talking about Constance.

Domitian finds the truth-telling substance, "Alethia", on Ida's ship.

Ivan tells Althea that he tried to stop Constance and that Ananke is sentient, but Domitian rages into the room and stabs Ivan with Alethia. Domitian orders Althea to leave.

Ananke makes a holographic version of herself from the appearance of Althea, Ivan, Mattie, and Ida (body of Ida, face like Althea and Mattie, Ivan's blue eyes) and a voice by mixing all the voices of the people on the ship.

Domitian forcefully interrogates Ivan.

Ananke finds that the side effects of Alethia are "Hallucinations, nausea, fever, disorientation, prior mood problems worsened."

Domitian forces Ivan to tell him about everything on the Ananke, including Mattie's escape. Mattie escaped by sneaking into the Janus, Constance's ship, on the docking bay.

Ananke watches the interrogation and informs Althea there is scientific degeneracy. Scientific degeneracy is two stories have the same date, but one story is true and the other is false.

Althea watches the footage of the interrogation before shutting it off.

As Althea pulls Domitian out of interrogation, Ivan hallucinates that Ananke is a god.

"Ten minutes later, Ananke watched Domitian return to the white room. Soon Ivan was wrapped up again in the stuttering recitation of his life, unspooling it along with his sanity. Twenty-three minutes after that, Ananke received a response to the message she had sent earlier. I'M COMING, it said. KEEP HIM ALIVE. It was from Matthew Gale."

Chapter 10: Deus Ex Machina

Ivan is interrogated by Domitian on Constance's whereabouts.

Ananke refuses to cooperate with Althea, who wants the ship at Pluto. Ananke tells Althea she is sentient, but not human.

Ivan tells Domitian that the bombing of Earth was a challenge at first and that Julian Keyes, a man who works for Constance, planted the bombs.

Ananke is taking the side of Ivan and Althea takes Domitian's side as Althea fixes Ananke.

As Domitian pumps more Alethia into Ivan, Ivan refuses to tell the whereabouts of Anji and Christoph, but has to talk about Europa.

Mattie and his ship approach the Ananke.

Ivan tells Domitian that on Europa, Mattie was caught, but then Ivan rescued him by shutting off the life support of the Jason (except Mattie's cell).

Ananke alerts Althea that Mattie is boarding the ship my saying "MY FATHER IS HERE." As Althea refuses to do Ananke's will, Ananke shows Althea that she knows more than human knowledge (statistics, camera footage, etc.) and that her name originates from Ananke, the second created Roman god, and the "Math is the language of God." Althea makes level with Ananke and the ship finally  obeys her.

As the investigation wraps up, Ivan tells Domitian that he will do anything to protect Mattie. As Domitian is about to attack Ivan, Mattie suddenly shoots Domitian from behind and both men have to escape.

Althea finds Mattie and Ivan at the docking bay and stops them. Althea demands a reason not to shoot Mattie and Ivan, and Ivan tells her the System is dead and that Althea has to stay with Ananke. Althea lets Mattie and Ivan go and Ananke and Althea venture on into the universe.
