It's been a day since Kaz Brekker told Tiana the full truth, she tried to act like everything was normal when Nina was around but it was hard. She caught herself about to say Nina in public and when they were at the house around Vera. Tiana felt an overwhelming sense of rage every time she looks at Nina but most of all Tiana feels like she deserves this. Tiana gave into her desire for women and the first one she's with and who makes her feel whole, betrays her. So did Tiana deserve this? Maybe...
Tiana scrubs her hands over her face as she looks at herself in the mirror of her vanity, she is supposed to be getting ready to announce to Leif that she's officially buying his portion of the business with the money Kaz gave her at the start of their contract. Once she buys Leif out, she'll have access to it all, all the money that Leif has been hiding from her. Not only can she do what Kaz is asking of her by financing the jobs that he wants to do. Tiana knows that it's better if she doesn't ask questions because as long as Kaz helps her she'll keep quiet and if she doesn't then she knows that Kaz has people to take care of her.
"Oh! You aren't ready yet, do you need help?" Nina's voice makes Tiana jump as she stares at the girl in the reflection of the mirror, while Tiana was stuck in her head it seems that Nina and entered without knocking and shutting the door behind her. "You're supposed to knock." Tiana snaps glaring at Nina. "I did, you didn't respond. I know you hate me but we're supposed to act normal." Nina licked her lips as she walked towards Tiana and stood beside her. "We're alone if you didn't notice." Tiana looked into the mirror and started to apply her lipstick, she knew that she could ask Nina to help her but she wasn't going to accept.
"I don't know how many times I have to say this but it wasn't all a job for me. Our night together was special." Nina walked over to the small couch in front of Tiana's bed and sat on it crossing her legs together. Tiana closed her eyes quickly knowing that she would be shouting if she didn't. "You were my first Nina, I've never felt like that before ever, and look what happened. You hurt me, you broke me, you climbed into my life, and for what? A job? I know Kaz told me you tried to back out but maybe you should've tried harder when you realized you loved me. Instead, you went through with it. You know I saw you, the next morning."
Nina squinted her eyes at Tiana trying to figure out what she meant when suddenly it dawned on her, she paled slightly and squeezed the armrest until her knuckles went white. "That's right, I saw you coming out of my office when you were supposed to be getting us tea. That's when I knew something was off, I didn't want to be right. I trusted you, I gave everything to you. You couldn't even wait." Tiana could feel herself getting choked up so she licked her lips and turned back towards the mirror so she could focus on getting ready.
"Tiana, I am so sorry. I truly didn't mean for this to happen." Nina pleaded, Tiana, shook her head as she grabbed her clips and started to pin her hair in a certain way. "You aren't sorry, you're sorry that you got caught. But it's okay because we don't have to work together forever. As soon as the time is right, I'll let you go and we never have to speak again." Tiana licked her lips as she stood up and started to walk toward where her jewelry was.
The contract between her and Kaz was always supposed to be temporary, she didn't know how she was going to prove to Kaz that she would keep her silence but she would throw all the money at him. She didn't want to be under any man's thumb anymore. After Leif is bought out, she's taking over and Tiana isn't taking shit from no man.
"Can you get me a drink? I have a feeling I'm going to need some before I leave." Tiana instructed quickly, Nina who looked surprised nodded and stood up quickly before rushing out of Tiana's room and now she was alone. She grabbed a sparkling necklace and walked over to the giant floor-length mirror and started to clasp it around her neck. Tiana flattened the necklace down and clasped the bracelet that she had left on her vanity around her wrist, she clasped the back of her vanity chair with her hands and looked at herself in the mirror. She rolled her shoulders and held her head high, she couldn't waiver, she was strong, she was a Malinowski.
