*Blue's POV*

The Davenports drove us to the school and Bree, Leo, Chase, and I waved bye as Mr. Davenport, Tasha, and Adam left to go find seats in the audience. I clutched onto the big plastic dress-sized bag which held my dress in it so tightly that my knuckles turned white. Bree told me she was going to go find some makeup from her purse and would be right back, turning towards the bathroom.

Leo said he needed to fix his tux, because his pants were on backwards. I fought against making another sarcastic comment and watched as he limped away leaving Chase and me.

Chase seemed to notice the petrified look on my face because he touched my arm gently and looked into my eyes. "Are you okay?"

I swiftly nodded my head, trying not to look exactly into his melted hazel eyes, but around them. Didn't work. "I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be? I'm only about to sing a song that everyone knows in front of a whole bunch of people and if I mess up they'll know I did because they know the lyrics and I've never sung in front of a cloud before and I just-"

But I was interrupted when Chase kissed me. Not on the lips, on my cheek. Still, it shocked me so much that my heart stopped beating for a second and I choked on air. Chase looked at me and smiled and I smiled shyly back, brushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

"You'll do great, BlueBelle," oh my dog. He just called me BlueBelle... He said that name so softly... "just... If you get nervous, look at me. It's always easier to spot someone you know in the crowd, then just pretend like your singing to them and only them. That's what I do when I have to give speeches. And if that doesn't help, just act like you're alone."

I looked up at him (he's still taller than me) and one of the corners of my lip pulled up into a smile. And for once... It wasn't a fake one... Chase made me smile. "T-thanks Chase. You'll do great, too. I can't wait to see what Leo has in store for you." I laughed and he smirked and smiled down at me.

"Well aren't you two just the little lovebirds." Chase and I both flipped around  to face Leo and Bree standing across the room, smirks on their faces. I sighed at the same time Chase did.

             "I'm coming, Bree."

"I'm coming, Leo." We both said it at the same time in unison and after both faced each other and blushed until going our separate ways.

             "Good luck, Chasey!" I called.

"Same goes, BlueBelle!" Chase called over his shoulder and I smiled to myself as Bree led me into the girls room, still smirking.

Time skip - 5 minutes until Blue's on

I was standing behind the curtain that led to the auditorium where everyone sat. And I mean everyone. I swear, all the seats were full of people I thought I'd saw once in a lifetime.

I had on my dress, makeup, shoes, bracelets, everything that I needed, but I was so scared. My heart was thumping against my chest as I listened to the audience members chatting.

Squinting my eyes closed, I tried to calm myself down. Everything was going to be okay. They weren't going to burst out laughing at your lame attempt to perfect the vocals of 'Confident'... But what if they did?

What would everyone think of me? Would they be disappointed? Would I become the laughing stock like that one girl named Tag who got pushed around and teased because of her name and when she showed them how much she sucked at playing tag she got thrown into the dumpsters behind the gym and instead got labeled, 'Dumpster Tagger'?

I took deep breaths and rested my head against the wall next to the curtain. It was cool against my warm forehead.

"Hey, Blue, you're on in two minutes." A girl wearing a headset who sat in my math class named Gemma told me, smiling kindly while clutching a clipboard to her chest. I turned slightly and smiled sincerely.

"Right, thanks. Umm, do you know where Bree is?" I asked. Gemma's eyes lit up in excitement and confusion.

"Oh, she's getting ready with the rest of your backup dancers."

"Backup dancers?"

Gemma nodded her head vigorously her excitement bubbling. "Yeah! Everyone is so excited to hear you sing, Blue! Everyone has secretly been worried that you wouldn't pull through, seeing how you small and depressed you are, but now you're finally showing everyone what you've got! And look," Gemma leaned with me and opened up the curtain so we could both see, pointing to a camera crew in the back of the auditorium, up on the balcony, "this is going to be on TV! The entire talent show! We're going to be aired on Kare 11 and everything!"

I was in shock. Wasn't this supposed to be a small talent show? Not something where people were counting on me to make a good performance... Gemma grabbed my hands and jumped up and down giddily.

"Looking forward to it, BlueBell!" Gemma giggled and pranced away.
I just stood there, staring at Mr. Davenport, Tasha, and Adam in the audience. They were going to see me fail. And they were all counting on me. So much pressure. I had never sung in front of anyone! NOT EVER!

What. Just. Happened?

Time skip - 10 seconds until Blue's on

I was standing on the elevator built into the stage and was closing  my eyes, readjusting the earpiece into my ear so that it was aligned with my mouth. The first cords strung through the air and I took a deep breath as the elevator lifted me up and onto the stage. My eyes slowly opened against the glittery blue eyeshadow and I saw everyone looking at me. The camera crew, Chase and Leo and the other Davenports. I felt someone come up behind me and whisper in my ear, "you've got this, Blue."

It sounded like Bree, but I didn't turn around.

I swallowed hard, trying to release all the nerves and broke out into the first verse, stepping slowly across the blue-lighted, foggy flooring. (Play the video now)

"It's time for me to take it
I'm a boss right now," I broke out into the choreographed dance moves that I had received and smiled to myself as Bree and the other backup dancers did something similar behind me. The lights changed from blue to red to green to purple and back again, strobe lights flashing on.

"Not gonna fake it
Not when you go down," I pointed down and leaned a little, smirking up at the awestruck audience. Maybe I wasn't half that bad after all...

"'Cause this is my game
And you better come to play
I used to hold my freak back," To my shock, Bree and another one of the backup dancers grabbed my arms and held me back while I lunged forward, going with it.

"Now I'm letting go
I make my own choice
Cause I run this show (I excluded the bad word, I know, not a typo)
So leave the lights on," the lights switched off and back on.

"No you can't make me behave," I smiled mercilessly.
"Oh oh oh
So you say I'm complicated?" I put a hand on my hip as wind blew my hair back.

"That I must be outta my mind
But you've had me underrated
Rated
Rated!" I cried the last one a little louder and the backup dancers and I snapped our fingers to the beat.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" The tempo sped up.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" The lights switched off and when they turned back on I was closer to the edge of the stage.

"It's time to get the chains out
Is your tongue tied up?" I rolled my tongue a little for effect which made some of the front row laugh.

"Cause this is my ground," I pointed to the stage. "And I'm dangerous," I grinned wickedly and twirled around, stepping back a little.

"And you can get off
But it's all about me tonight," I pointed to myself and the backup dancers and Bree formed a quick circle and twirled off.

"So you say I'm complicated?" I stared off into the crowd with an evil eye and many widened their eyes. "That I must be outta my mind."

"But you've and me underrated
Rated
Rated!" The backup dancers and Bree lined up in a row behind me and snapped their fingers.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?
Oh oh oh
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" I lowered my head quick like a robot shutting off and pushed my arms out, making Bree and the backup dancers run back. I turned back on.
They started calling out calls to make the background voice.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?
Oh oh oh
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" I looked up and smiled wickedly again. I pushed out and spun around to face the backup dancers and Bree who were doing break dance moves all around. I walked forward and turned around, walking slowly forward like a sergeant.

"Uh huh
Hey!" The lights switched off and everyone got back into formation, the wind blowing my hair back.

"Yeah!
So you say I'm complicated?" I grinned and slowly stepped forward, making many people lean forward in their seats.

"But you've had me underrated..." I twirled my finger around and everyone started dancing uncontrollably as planned and I walked forward, sweeping one side of my hair over my shoulder and grinning badly at the crowd.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?
Oh oh oh," the backup dancers cried along with me.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" The crowd started cheering and I grinned, raising my arm and voice.

"What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?
Oh oh oh
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?
Oh oh oh," finally, I ended in a pose and everyone else behind me did as well as the lights switched back to normal and I smiled up at the audience.

Everyone stood up and started screaming and cheering for me, I smiled and laughed, tears welling up and breathing heavily.

"Thank you! Thank you!" I cried out as people in the front row reached for my hand and I gave it to them. They pulled me down and lifted me up over the crowd, pulling me up across the aisles. I laughed as their hands brushed against my back.

"BlueBell! BlueBell!" Everyone started chanting my name and I smiled, laughing.

I looked across the auditorium and saw Bree smiling at me excitedly and Chase and the other Davenports cheering along.

This was the best day of my life...

*Bree's POV*

After Blue's song got finished and she finished signing autographs, we sat back down to watch Leo and Chase perform their part.

The curtains opened and it showed Leo in an adorable red magicians suit with Chase in a blue with white stars leotard. I leaned over and giggled with Blue as we linked arms and grinned at them.

Leo looked proud and Chase looked annoyed as Leo cleared his throat. "Hello, ladies and gentlemen," he paused. "I would like to introduce you to I, the great Leo Dooley, Master of Illusion. And my assistant, Chase the Madness." I giggled at the names.

"For my first trick, I will make a dove fly into the air," Leo reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue sheet, handing it to Chase to hold as he put his hands underneath, pulling the sheets back to reveal a dove.

"Be free!" Leo called and tossed the bird into the air, which flew and hit an air vent, falling to the floor. Everyone gaped, "uh, that was part of the trick! Moving on," Blue laughed along with me again.

"Oh, Chase, you're looking a little cold. Maybe he needs a scarf..." I watched in amazement as Leo pulled a very long scarf out of his mouth, picked it up, and tried to put it on Chase's shoulders who shoved it off.

"Eww, don't put those on me! They're still wet!" Blue burst out laughing loud enough that Chase turned and grinned as the crowd noticed her laughing and laughed along.

"For my finale, we will do the Saw the Lady in Half trick. Chase, climb into the box," Leo helped Chase to lie down into a body shaped box and pulled out a saw. "Now, I will saw Chase in half."

We all laughed as Chase struggled to get out and Leo fought against him and it ended with the box collapsing, Blue bursting out laughing, everyone laughing with her, and Chase and Leo bowing with a pair of lady legs in between them.

Oh my gosh, they can be such dorks.
