LIAM & ISAAC

Isaac tapped his fingers against the table huffing in annoyance. He was glad that Jonah and Daniel finally got their shit together after what felt like years of secret crushes and lost puppy eyes.

"You're such an idiot," he heard Daniel whisper. Isaac rolled his eyes, already expecting Jonah's response.

"I'm your idiot," Jonah murmured while Isaac mouthed his words.

I'm the third wheel, he thought and began to hit his forehead against the table. This was supposed to be his quality time where he could eat and talk to his friends and not think about school. But it doesn't help when both of his friends are dating each other.

"This feels kinda awkward doesn't it?" a deep voice said beside him. Isaac sat up, his eyes falling his fellow acquaintance.

"Don't you have places to be?" he muttered under his breath, "Like picking up girls at local bars?"

Liam rolled his eyes and took his place at the dining table, ignoring the two lovebirds who were to busy eating each other's faces.

"That's way too cliché bro," the blonde said with a grin before putting a greasy fry into his mouth, "Besides, there aren't any good bars here. They're way too filthy and tight."

"I thought that's how you like 'em," he muttered under his breath, bracing himself for another round of boasting about his nights with his girlfriend.

"Nah, I've started realizing I have different tastes," Liam grinned. Isaac rolled his eyes but he noticed from the corner of his eye that Daniel and Jonah had stopped talking, their eyes trained on them. He raised his eyebrows, "What? You guys done kissing? We could be spending some quality time here like watching movies or having a food fight."

Blush coated Daniel's cheeks, not mixing well with his purple hair, "I'm sorry Isaac. I didn't mean to waste your time after you made the effort to visit us from the university."

Guilt floated about him before settling in his stomach, "It's alright. If I hadn't insisted in coming I wouldn't be here. Besides I really wasn't going to do much anyways."

A sudden vibration of his cell grabbed his attention, his hand swiftly answering the call with a swipe of his thumb, "Hello?"

"Hey honey, can you do me a favor?" his mother's sweet voice seeping through his ear, a sudden
urge to run back to the dorm till kingdom come itching in his lean legs.

"You want me to babysit Leah and Holly?" he groaned out, the image of the double trouble filling his mind with frilly pink tutus.

"Please?" his mother begged through the phone, "Your father and I haven't been on a date in years, just this one night? We're already gone so you can't really say no. Just get a ride from Daniel's so you can be here on time before the snow comes."

"Alright mom, I'll be there in a bit," he spoke before hanging up.

"Something wrong?" Daniel questioned, his green eyes holding a hint of worry. Isaac rolled his eyes as he spoke to his friends and the acquaintance, "Sorry guys. I got to baby sit my sisters, you think one of you guys could give me a lift?"

"I will!" Liam said, raising his car keys into the air, "You can be the first to try out my sweet ride that my parents gave me for my birthday!"

Isaac couldn't help but smile at Liam's enthusiasm, "Alright."

***
He looks so adorable, Liam thought, watching Isaac zip up his overly large sweater over his small and slender frame. Dirty, blonde hair peeked from the gray ear muffs.

Jesus Christ Liam, pull yourself together. Just give him a ride and come back for the movie.

He wasn't kidding when he told Isaac that his tastes had change. During his time in the university, he discovered feelings that weren't normal for a young, male adult, but as time went on, he couldn't help but think about pair of soft brown eyes that he saw during his years in high school.

"Shite, looks like a blizzard is coming," he heard Isaac say, "We better hurry."

Liam grinned and opened the car, the sweet smell of brand new leather hitting his nose.

"So where do you live?" he asked the blonde haired boy who was fiddling with the cuff of his sleeve.

"About five blocks down, three blocks to the right. It's a red brick house," Isaac spoke quietly, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear.

Liam couldn't get Isaac out of his head. Nearly two years had passed without seeing a trace of him and now, this young man looked nearly the same in high school. The few odd differences were just his slightly longer hair and even paler skin.

"So uh, what are you studying?" Liam quipped, chasing away the awkward silence that had filled his new car.

Large brown eyes fell on him, sending warm shivers down his skin, "I'm earning a degree in software engineering," the young man murmured.

"Computer stuff right?" Liam asked.

Isaac nodded, his eyes shifting back on the scenery outside the window. From one moment to another, snow began to fall the cold wind guiding the shards of ice at an even faster pace, the sides of the road suddenly piling with snow.

"Looks like the blizzard came sooner that I thought," Liam mused as he tried to make out the road before him.

"Here," Isaac suddenly said.

Liam slowed the car down, his eyes falling on Isaac's house, "So uh, see you later?"

The blonde boy nodded, opening the door, letting a cold gust of wind filling his warm car.

"Bye," he said as the door slammed behind Isaac.

*****

What the hell are you doing? Isaac thought to himself as he trudged up the snow covered sidewalk. He wanted to go inside pronto but his consciousness dictated something else.

"You little fucker," he muttered to himself as he turned, marching back to the car, tapping on the glass with his knuckles that were already turning purple.

The dark window slid down, revealing Liam's surprised face, "Yeah?"

"Do you want to come in?" he muttered under his breath while avoiding eye contact.

"Why?" the idiot asked.

"Because you'll crash into a bloody post in this storm. You can't see shit from more the ten feet of you," he argued while blowing into his hands for warmth.

Liam blinked, taking his sweet time to realize the truth in his act of kindness, "Oh. Well then. Thanks. I'll head inside."

"Hot chocolate, coffee or tea?" Isaac listed once they took shelter in his home.

"Er-" Liam said before being interrupted by a pair of twins whose blonde pigtails bounced as they came down the steps.

"Isaac!" the young girls cried, grins on their child faces, "You're back. Mummy said you were going to babysit us tonight!"

Damn. I missed them, he thought, a smile gracing his usually serious face, "Holly! Leah!" he exclaimed, pulling the twins girls into a hug, breathing their familiar scent of their favorite fruit, strawberries.

They giggled, placing a kiss on each side of his cheek, "I've missed you guys," he chuckled, setting the twins back on their feet.

Holly glanced behind him, her eyes wide, "Is that your boyfriend?"

Isaac nearly choked on air, "What?"

Leah pointed, "That guy, is he your boyfriend?"

He turned, Liam's amused expression gracing his rather handsome features, "No. He's just a friend. He'll be staying here until the storm is over."

The twins expressions grew wide with wonder, "Oh!"

Isaac glanced, "Liam, why don't you take shower? Just go up the stairs, first door to your right."

Liam smirked, "Sure thing boss," he prompted as he made his way towards the second floor. Isaac sighed and turned to his sisters, "You guys want anything?"

Holly grinned, "Do you think you could make us our favorite lasagna?"

****

Damn that shit smells good, Liam thought as he took a big whiff once he went down the steps, his nose guiding him towards the delicious smell.

"Damn Isaac, I don't know what you- woah," Liam froze, his eyes taking in what was a rather homey but sexy sight.

The blonde haired boy had changed out of his winter clothes and into an elbow length shirt and black jeans that hugged his lean legs, and a white apron protecting his clothing. Golden light from the kitchen accentuated his rather breath taking features. From the freckles that sprinkled over his high cheek bones and button nose to the soft brown eyes that watched the oven with a scrutinizing stare.

"Whatcha makin' Isaac?" Liam asked, combing back his wet hair with deft fingers.

"Lasagna," Isaac murmured, slipping on a pair of thick gloves and pulling out a delicious looking lasagna from the oven, "It's my sisters' favorite."

"I think it might be mine too," he groaned while his stomach growled, sending the corner's of Isaac's lips turn up in a smile. A smile that sent Liam's heart fluttering inside his chest, making a smile appear on his lips. He approached the slender boy, leaning in to take a big whiff of the lasagna but it was just an excuse to get nearer to the rather quiet Isaac.

A soft chuckle came from Isaac, his small shoulders shaking in mirth, "Breath anymore and the lasagna will go up your nose."

Liam winked, "Well I need to breathe and eat. Two basic necessities in life don't you think?"

"ISAAC!" a girl cried out, bursting their bubble of tranquility.

*****

His body reacted on instinct, legs taking him through the stairs to see his twins sisters huddled on the bed, clinging to one another while their eyes stared fearfully at small black creature that crawled over the wall.

Before he could do anything, Liam's quick hands had already removed the spider from the wall with a tissue and wrapped the creature tightly inside the tissue, "There! That scary monster is gone!" Liam said with a grin, "The princesses are safe for I have captured the beast!"

Isaac chuckled, a surge of happiness filling his sisters' room. For the tiniest moment, Isaac felt a sense of belonging. Something he hadn't felt ever since he went off to the university.

"Come on guys," Isaac said, "Let's go have some pasta."

*****

Liam need to stretch his legs, but Leah fallen asleep in his chest and he couldn't bear waking up the little angel. The movie still ran on the television, the image of the Ice Queen struggling her way out of a pair of chairs that held her imprisoned beneath the castle.

"I should take them to bed," Isaac whispered, gently holding Holly to his chest, the girl's drool visible on his shoulder.

"I'll help," he whispered back, glancing at the twin in his arms, "Well she wake up if I move?"

The corner of Isaac's beautiful lips tilted upwards in a rather teasing smile, "No. They both sleep like logs."

Liam let out a sigh of relief and stood up, clutching Leah to keep her steady.

Just for the tiniest moment as Isaac and Liam took the twins upstairs, Liam felt like a father taking his child to her bedroom to tuck her goodnight. A sense of nostalgia filled his chest, a memory of when he was small going through the samething like he did with his father.

****

Isaac watched Liam tuck his younger sister in her pink bed and pulling the sheets towards her chin. he couldn't help but feel a pang of tenderness towards the young man.

Muscles moving beneath his tan skin, his eyes glittering with tenderness as he pressed his lips against Leah's forehead. He had been so entranced with Liam's act that he didn't notice the pair of eyes that stared at him from beneath.

"You should kiss him," Holly whispered, a smile on her tiny face, "An act of true love will thaw a frozen heart."

Isaac smiled softly and kissed her cheek, "I don't have a frozen heart Leah."

Wise but sleepy eyes blinked at him, her tiny mouth opening in a quiet yawn, "Your heart has been closed off from the world but even Big Brother needs his Prince Charming," the shrewd child murmured before slipping in dreamland. He chuckled to himself and pulled the sheets over her before leaving the room.

"They're cute," Liam murmured, his back leaning against the wall.

Isaac smiled and nodded, "Yeah. Thanks for helping me babysit them."

"No problem, it's the least I could do since you're letting me stay over until the storm ends," the young man murmured.

He felt blood rush to his cheeks, "It's nothing. I'll take you to the guest room," he spoke as he walked past him and guided him to the guest room, white walls matching the white sheets.

"So much white," Liam muttered as he entered the room.

"Sorry but at least the - Er Liam? What are you doing?" Isaac stuttered, his eyes taking in the shirtless figure of what looked like to be the modern Adonis.

Liam shifted close to Isaac, his voice suddenly dropping into a husky whisper, "Taking off my shirt. Is there something wrong with that?"

His eyes raked over chest, a few freckles standing out against his skin, "I er, uh, no I guess not."

A single finger tilted his head upwards, "My eyes are up here Isaac."

Liam's eyes filled with lust as he gazed into his own. Since when did things get suddenly heated? Why was this happening with Liam? Wasn't he straight?

"Aren't you straight?" Isaac suddenly blurted, his entire body paralyzed under Liam's smoldering gaze.

The space between the two grew small, their lips nearly touching one another, "Not anymore," he murmured, pressing his lips against his, nearly making Isaac buckle to his knees if it weren't for a pair of strong arms pulling him to his chest.

*****
"Are they kissing?" Leah whispered behind her as they peeked through the crack in their door.

"Yeah," Holly confirmed, pulling away from the crack, "Our plan worked!" she whispered, giving her sister a high five before slipping into their beds.

****

Isaac pulled away breathless, his eyes darting over Liam.

"I've been wanting to do that for awhile," Liam said, his voice rumbling into his chest.

Isaac tried to speak but his mouth refused to obey after the earth shattering kiss.

Liam cupped his cheek, "I'm not going to apologize for kissing you," he whispered, "Because I love you. I haven't stopped thinking about you."

Isaac definitely couldn't form any words, but a warm feeling exploded inside him, sending his arms around the larger boy and his lips once again moving against Liam's.

There lips moved in sync, a low groan rising from either of them before Isaac finally pulled away, finally being able to speak, "I can't say the same as you."

Liam's eyes showed hurt and pain but Isaac quickly spoke, "But I'm willing to give us a chance to be together."

Liam grinned, "I'll do anything for you," he spoke their lips once again meeting each other's.
*****
5 YEARS LATER

"What are you thinking about?" a deep voice said beside him, soft kisses peppering his bare shoulder.

Liam chuckled softly, his head turning to the slender man that laid beside him, his dark blonde hair in disarray after their night of gentle lovemaking, "I was thinking about our first kiss."

"The night it all began," Isaac murmured, pressing Liam's knuckles to his soft lips, their wedding rings glinting in the morning sunlight.

Liam leaned in and kissed his lips, "I love you Isaac."

A slow smile spread across his lips, "I love you Liam."
